Oh yeah! Folks in India should blindly get that upgraded if available as an option.

As mentioned several times in my review and ownership thread on forum. 50% of fun of driving the X3 M40i is because of exhaust sound. The other 50% is for that glorious B58 engine.

That is a sad thing. But, I think BMW will release that soon in India market as it's one of the largest selling product globally as you know the whole world (including India) is moving towards SUV.

My angst was with BMW North America, they released the BMW LCI model here 6 months after I bought mine. But, I am glad mechanically they didn't change anything and cosmetic changes aren't so important to me personally, otherwise I would have been heartbroken.

Re: Review: 2022 BMW X3 (LCi)

Need some inputs from fellow BHPians, especially BMW owners.

My situation:
After a long consideration, trying out almost all other SUVs in the segment, I booked the new 2022 X3 around 5th Feb, after a couple of weeks from the launch. I was in touch with the dealer since the launch, and all the while was told I would get the delivery within a month max, so finally I booked the petrol top end M Sport variant. Even on the day of booking, I was told delivery would happen anywhere between 2 to 4 weeks, so I expected the car to to delivered by end of Feb max.

In about a week after the booking, I got a call from the sales person, and I was shocked to hear that BMW India has sold out all the X3s, and due to overwhelming response, had no stock left! This means I have to wait until the new batch to be manufactured in April, which means a delay of more than a month and a half from the originally promised delivery time. The bigger issue for me is that I need the delivery latest by 31st March to get depreciation benefit.

I was given a few alternatives as below:
- Diesel X3 - BMW India launched this last week, I think it's called luxury line, just one variant. The cost is about 40K less than the Petrol M Sport I booked, but it comes with a reduced feature of Park assist & 360 camera. They are saying this will be delivered in March. But I was not keen on a diesel as I my average yearly running is relatively low (around 8K / year)

- I was told to consider an X4, again because this would be available in March, but I'm not sure how different it is compared to X3.

Any inputs/suggestions please?

I'm really concerned as I did not expect this kind of goof up from BMW, considering it's a luxury brand. I paid the token amount while booking the car, but till date I did not get any communication from BMW India about my booking status etc. and have to follow up with the dealer to check the status.
I had booked Merc GLC last month and cancelled the booking, but the entire process with Mercedes India was very smooth and transparent. Compared to that my experience of booking a BMW has been quite disappointing.
Any ideas/suggestions from fellow BMW owners ? Has anyone else also faced similar problem?

Hi I wanted to check with existing BMW owners, especially X3 owners, on the maintenance package offered by BMW? Is it worth the additional cost? Thank you.

Same here. And now they have increased prices. I am not clear why they needed to introduce the X4 when they have a backlog of the X3. And BMW does not communicate directly once you book a car. You have to believe the dealer's words on timelines.

Great review Karan. The difference in torque output with the 330i is perplexing indeed. But what a car! Those rims look really desirable.

What does LCI stand for?

Edit - figured out. It sounded to me like an abbreviation which I simply wasn't familiar with (akin to the use of ANHC and NHC in this forum for the Honda City). This LCI (or Life Cycle impulse) seems to be a suffix used for mid-cycle refreshes of BMW models.

Do you get instant power irrespective of whichever gear and speed are you in? If yes, then these torque numbers are moot.

I feel that in daily driving the extra bit does help and I'll give an example.

I have a B6 VW Passat 1.8 TSI. It's manual and had 160 bhp and 250 NM of torque stock. I recently got an Etuner stage 2 map on it and it is now around 210-220 bhp and a healthy 350 NM if not more. I still have to put it on the dyno at speedsport. This is my first mapped car and can say the difference is incredible. You can feel the car eager at 1100-1200 rpm and really and I mean really goes at 2k rpm. Wheels spinning all the way to the 2nd shift I.e 3rd gear.

The car behaves very differently with the extra 100nm. Part throttle is much cleaner. Low revs are more confident, no hesitation or jerking. Easier to dart in gaps and yes the flat out pull is insane.

I feel it's not only the output but the torque curve also. It makes part throttle inputs more responsive and interesting. I'm sure 50 NM dosent make much of a difference but the extra on the curve can help.

Cheers

Re: Review: 2022 BMW X3 (LCi)

Well, after a long wait of around 2 months after paying token for booking X3, I somehow managed to get the delivery on Saturday (Gudhi Padwa) and drove home the new X3 300i MSport - finally! It all happened just in the nick of the time - the SA from dealership calling up in the last week of March, managing payments, insurance, registrations etc. till the very last minute...
It was like a roller coaster ride, not knowing when the delivery would happen, till the last min, with the added pressure of the fact that prices would be going up starting from April (car & insurance both). I did not get the color of my first choice, which was white, but managed to get phytonic blue, which is ok. It did not make sense to wait for white, in the current circumstances.

As far as I know, the dealer does a corresponding booking with BMW against your order. So you should have got your white. Unless he gave it to someone else.

Re: Review: 2022 BMW X3 (LCi)

The SportX comes with Bridgestone Allenza 245/50R19 105W tyres.

The tyre settings have two options: 1) summer 2) winter/all season. The car comes with the winter/all season set as default , but the above tyre size is not listed in the size options given there, and “other” has been pre selected. If we select ‘summer tyres’ , the above size comes as an option for selecting. What are owners selecting?

I'm away from my garage, but, as far as I remember, mine is set to summer tyre. Will update back if it isn't so after reconfirming.

Re: Review: 2022 BMW X3 (LCi)

My tyres are set to Summer Tyres. I selected the correct tyre from the drop down list. After filling air, there is no option to "Reset" the tyre pressure, there is an option to only "Save" the setting. If the tyres are set to "Winter/All Season" , there is no option to select the tyre, but the "Reset" option comes on. What is being done by others?

On mine there is an option to reset the pressure with summer tyres.

I am away from the car for the next one month so can’t share a picture.
