We need writers like this more on this place man! :-)

Great writing and no photos and still entertaining.

The AC does cool enough, I was talking about the fan speed alone - it is very rare that I am able to manage with speed 1. I can sometimes manage with 2 on a cool morning, but any time after 10 a.m., it does need 3 or 4.
Steering cover's quality is good but I should have used a head gun to stretch it enough to cover around the thumb contours of the steering wheel. Also the steering cover should go under the sliver plastic trim at the 6' O clock position but I did not try to pry that trim out.
I did a DIY stitching of the steering cover on my Thar. A professional installer would do a lot better. But I didn't want a Installer to apply glue on the steering wheel and install a steering cover so I am satisfied as of now.

AC's blower makes a lot of noise but the actual air flow out from the vents feels like it is getting choked somewhere.

Hilarious yet very informative review, loved it!

One of the rare reviews where there is no mention of the better half having a say in the purchase decision. I envy you, on being master of your house!

Congratulations and wish you a million miles of happy and safe journeys!

Ah, OK. Well, I found out that Mahindra's own steering wheel cover accessory is indeed a good one - a fellow owner here has it installed. So, I shall go to Mahindra for this.

Thank you. The better half did make the decision. My wife, on the other hand, grudgingly accepted it and is actually not that unhappy.

Cheers

Was looking forward to your take on the Thar having been spoilt by the Jetta. Maybe age has mellowed you down because I didn't think you would be so forgiving of unusable cup holders or no arm rests. Glad to hear you are enjoying the car, though I'd really like to hear the Mrs take on the switch from the Jetta. Guess that will happen over a non automotive liquid session . Looking forward to that and a trip in your car. Loved your write up and if you are thinking about adding some pics let me know, you have Thar I have camera, if you know what I mean :wink

For all of you who asked for pictures, here are the only ones I have. Apologies for potato quality from potato phone, but DeepFeak15, your offer is gratefully accepted. I shall ensure Thar is prettified and made-up and lipsticked at your convenience. And then I can post some genuinely drool-worthy pics here.

And no, it is not age that has mellowed me, it is my brain's ability to justify things based on my wants

By the way, one of the pics here is the before-and-after of the wheel balancing and wheel alignment. See how badly it is before, and see the one wheel still not good enough.

"I got used pretty much immediately to turning the indicators on and off; but then I took the Jetta out and kept using the wipers to tell people I wanted to switch lanes. They were quite confused."

Had me in Splits.

A review that was Hilarious as it was informative.
Looking forward to your review when you buy your next car... or a house! Cheers!

Re: Useless cupholders | YATOR (Yet Another Thar Ownership Review)

I had similar issues with handling in my Petrol AT HT Thar while riding over potholes or uneven roads, I can feel the undulation in the steering and also the vehicle seems to move to one direction like during hydroplaning. I have my first service scheduled soon hence planning to get this addressed that time. If they can't fix it then I plan to get wheel balancing and alignment checked myself.

Boot space is an issue and I was hoping to get the Bimbra rear seat slider installed but since it needs the seat structure to be modified (cut and weld) I'll see if there is a better solution in future.

Steering leather cover is a nice to have feature as is pointed out here in the review as it feels rough and hard in stock condition.

In a recent ride of around 800 Kms over few days I found the fuel efficiency to be around 9.3 Kmpl average which is what is expected from the Petrol motor I guess, not great but we knew what we were getting in to

I din't get the remote fuel lid opener installed yet as it gives an opportunity to get out and tell the person to fill Petrol, and not Diesel by mistake. I see lot of times people at the fuel station gets confused when I say Petrol.

One question though, I'm using premium petrol in my Thar and was wondering what fellow members here use and if there are any practical benefits compared to low Octane petrol?

Use only the grade of fuel your engine is designed and rated for (check the user manual).

Using premium in a car rated for regular will not only not help, but could in fact be detrimental. Same with a car rated for premium and you fill regular.

Cheers

Hilarious thread and references, loved reading it!
Good luck with the vehicle! Continue updating the thread with the witty writing, reminds me a little of Sam Kapasi’s threads

Very well written I really enjoyed reading it. Congratulations and wish you a lot of happy miles !

Regarding your armrest issue, check this out, you can ignore Other stuff but I liked their custom armrest, location (placement) as well as usability -

This is one of the biggest reason I am here. Everyday I have to face this, today also one range rover or whatsoever big car bullyed me while returning to home. And I was thinking of your post...had I have a Thar or Gurkha (both are perfect for our Gurgaon broken roads)!

Hey Tilt, enjoyed reading this TOR. I'm looking to buy a car for the Mrs in BLR. If you're looking to get rid of your Jetta, let's go out for lunch sometime. I do not yet have DM rights on the forum. Cheers!
