Yes, the reviews indicate that rear of SX4 has decent legroom but poor elbowroom!

If this is true, it will be a big turn off for guys hungry for performance!
And it will be Advantage NHC Vtec, Fiesta 1.6 etc!

No, its kind of a small joystick, more of a toy or a gadget to play around with.

The NHC is around 150kgs lighter then the SX4

Isn't it similar to the orvm control in Octys ?

Actually it has great elbow room. But the problem is that the middle seat is elevated for the armrest making it virtually impossible for the mid row passenger in the rear seat.

Had a test drive of SX4-ZXi.

Pros:
1) Very good ground clearance & enough for Pune's pot holed roads.
2) Nice feeling of driving at high level.
3) All other goodies mentioned in other TDs.

Cons:
1) I would also call it a 4 seater because of eleveted rest arm middle person can't sit comfortably for a long time. I hope Maruti will try to fix this in the second lot, don't know how difficult to fix it though.
2) Does'nt really feels the power of 102 bhp, not very responsive.

That is exactly what i felt too.But apart from the lack of grunt i did not see any other major flaw. The vehicle is spacious vertically not horizontally. But i think most vehicles in this class are more of 4 seators cos that's what they r meant for normally, although u can stuff one more person if u really want to.I found swift diesel more fun to drive although it doesnt feel as reassuring as sx4 aat higher speeds.I dont think this vehcile should be bought for the adrenaline rush, cos u r not gonna get it.I think this lack of responsiveness could be attributed to the heavy weight of the car and makes it feel sluggish.I had read a lot of reviews on tata safari dicor on team ,took a test drive of the vehicle and found it quite impressive.Considering a lot of shortcomings of the vehicle, still i found it real value for money. My mind had changed when i started reading about sx4.But after the drive i could go for safari dicor blind folded. For me going for a sedan car should mean atleast decent performance and fun factor. The goodies packed make sense for me only if the performance is good.If it was for comfort i would anyday go for tata safari dicor.I feel really disappointed that no vehicle in the price range of sub 8 lakhs is offering.I wouldnt like to spend all my hard earned money on filling petrol and not getting substantial performance. But i would recommend this vehicle to people who r not so much obsessed with power but like creature comforts and the suv'ish stance and still do not want to buy an suv.

They may be refering to it in terms of width. Since the middle part of the rear seat is a little protuding it may not be very practical for 3 adults. However in terms of legroom - man you have to see it. Definitely good if not the best.

Had an opportunity to sit and check out the car. Still awaiting TD.

- Another thing I noted about the rear seat. My head touched the roof easily. (I'm approx 6'2") It was quite uncomfortable.
- Leg room seemed quite adequate all around.
- I liked the aircon controls
- AC did not seem to be very efficient. But I'll check it again during the TD later.
- Did not like the front quarter glass sitting inside. That place looks too complicated.
- Size of the steering is good. Pretty sporty.
- Very big & tall car. 16"ers don't really look that big. 16"ers on Skoda's look a lot bigger.

hmmm..... there seems to be a widesread view that the SX4 is not very peppy- surprising, since engine performance was one of the fortes of the OMB!

will be taking a test drive this week and will compare it with my Baleno- maybe, will get my wife to race me - sx4 vs OMB- watch out for that report!

Eagerly waiting for ur test drive report.Would like to test drive a different vehicle to see if there was some problem with the vehicle offered for test drive.Another thing i forgot to mention was the gear shift quality. It seems just adequate.Nothing impressive..

OMB will be faster , the SX4 is 1.2 tonnes V/S the 975kgs of the baleno .. Even though its 11bhp more still the PTWR is lesser than the OMB's ..

Guys,

AC seems to be a big let down on SX4, drove another vehicle at a different showroom, yesterday and It was HOT in the rear seat, the sales rep was sitting besides me and agreed to get the vehicle checked, he was sweating too.

Above 80kmph, the engine noise was considerably more, not sure if it was the poor NVH levels or the engine making more noise ? The pickup seemed ok, rear seat as most guys have noticed, has raised bottom & back (Additional padding I think), makes one wonder if a 5th person is to be accommodated occasionaly ? It sure is going to be hell of a ride for him.

The quality if seat fabric leaves a lot to be desired but I am sure this can be taken care of by putting good quality seat covers. I haven't seen the leather variant but for 35k extra, one can always get the best leather seat covers & steering wheel cover.

The biggest cause of concern is the poor AC & poor rear seat....in my opinion.
