Well, I feel Jeep Compass and XUV5OO is not an apples to apples comparison. Both the cars are of a different category & class.

I agree with sunikkat here, that except for the Space, Compass is superior in almost everything else - Driving Dynamics, Build Quality, premiumness of the cabin, much sorted tech in comparison to the teething tech of the new XUV7OO (based on v1 version of most Mahindras). A Compass will definitely feel like an upgrade, but yes, you will surely struggle to find space, coming from an XUV. But Compass's compact size makes it an amazing urban SUV for both city + highway use; it is ideally suitable for 4 adults + 1 child. People call it a minor facelift; however, I personally feel the 2021 model looks way more sexier and meaner from the front, when you compare the new and old versions, next to each other.

Though, the new XUV7OO surely looks exciting with all the bells & whistles, I would suggest even if you decide on the XUX, do wait it out a bit, until the first batch comes out in the market. In Mahindra's (or even Tata), the v1 batch of any new model comes has had some glitches & niggles, which were then corrected by the company in their v2 versions, which usually takes 8-12 months.

In this bracket and looking at your requirement, I guess there are couple of cars coming in from Volkswagen, not sure (not a big follower of VW). However, Jeep Meridian is expected in mid-2022; followed by Next-generation Hyundai Tuscon towards the end of 2022 or early 2023.

Completely agree with you. XUV is fully loaded with tech but that will come with its own set of niggles. Ideally I have to wait for 12 months before buying it so that Mahindra sort out the issues in initial batch.
I feel Jeep Meridian will again be long and for my family of 4 members (3 adults, 1 child), will not be an ideal choice. I am waiting for Tucson but again the roadmap is not clear and I am not sure by when Hyundai will introduce it in Indian market.

I believe Jeep Compass is the best option at this point of time and basis reviews of fellow BHPians, its a premium SUV car with lots of bells and whistles. I will further explore this and will take extended test drive to makeup my mind.

Absolutely.....when you're at it, do notice the interior premiumness vis-a-vis XUV and also how the car is so effortless to drive. Electronic components like sunroof, Powered-lift boot, etc. work 'silently' providing that luxury feel which you would get in cars from a segment above.

I just booked mine yesterday Model S; MT; Diesel in Galaxy Blue

Many-2 congratulations.. I believe you have booked the car from Landmark Jeep Gurgaon. Few queries:
1. What's the waiting period?
2. For Model S Diesel AT, they have quoted me the best insurance price of 87K which I feel is still on higher side.

The standard waiting period across Jeep dealerships in NCR, Dehradun, Sonipat, Karnal is 4 to 6 weeks; this is the maximum time they say, but this seems to be a standard statement from them. I believe it actually depends on the package that you choose - Color, MT or AT and finally the variant (Model S, Limited (O), etc.)

The SA told me that mine is next in line and the next production for my configuration will be assigned to me

Try checking on policy bazaar to get a sense from providers like Tata AIG, Digit, etc. For my MT-Diesel, I've got a quote from Landmark, which is very close to what I was getting on Policy bazaar / Insurance Dekho, etc., so I went ahead with them.

Re: My Facelifted Jeep Compass S Diesel Automatic 4x4 (Galaxy Blue)

You should surely check on Insurance in the market. And its real easy. I was quoted 1.35 Lac for 2.0D MT S. To which I refused and finalized(almost) for same cover outside at 73k (Probably, if tried more can get even better). Later, Dealer themselves agreed to match that price ! Also I think You can try on Mopar extended insurance .
I found these had rooms for bargain which could result in Your favor.

Re: My Facelifted Jeep Compass S Diesel Automatic 4x4 (Galaxy Blue)

Also there is an updated Model S now - Which seems to be getting an automatic ventilation in front seats, a integrated maps, some enhanced voice commands and increased infotainment RAM for enhanced performance.
Anyone booked or looking to buy Model S should get these checked too !

Rest registration and TCS at actuals.

I have asked them to deliver at ex-showroom. The sales person was a bit hesitant and could not give confirmation.

Will give a call again in a week.
Hello @gargville!

Can you mention which dealer you are talking to? I mean which city.

Yes, a new Model S (O2) has come out officially yesterday and the prices are also now updated on Jeep India website.

I am in talks with my dealer to upgrade my existing booking to O2 version and I am ready to pay the price difference of Rs. 15,000.

Landmark Gurgaon is playing smart. They are now saying they will not be able to waive off Rs. 23,600 handling & logistics charges for the new O2 variant.
This is their tactic to sell off existing inventory of the O1 variant, by denying me the so called "benefits" they had agreed on earlier. They can very well sell that to a customer who is looking for a heavily discounted Model S; since I am willing to pay the difference in ex-showroom, I cannot accept it.

I personally find this totally absurd. The only cost component related to the upgraded model should be the ex-showroom price, which I am willing to pay (+ marginal increase in TCS and registration charges). Logistics & Handling charges does not have anything to do with the upgrade, as logically, these will be incurred anyways (if I go by dealer's logic of "this is the cost of transporting vehicle from plant to the showroom" ). I don't even want to get into that debate with the dealer, if they can charge any such charges from customer or not, that is another level of discussion and I have discussed this with them, earlier once already.

If they do not agree to continue the same 'benefits', I will withdraw my booking for sure. I cannot settle with an inferior tech when I know an upgraded one is around. Neither am I okay to give in by paying any unjustified logistics & handling charges.

This is beyond absurd!! It is time to remind them their logistics & handling charges are illegal in the first place per a high court ruling no less! Other option you have is to write directly to Jeep customer support & explain the situation, I’m sure Jeep will step in to bring the dealer back into his senses.

With so many such stories on dealer apathy, I feel it is time manufacturers start to think about setting up alternative means to deliver directly to customers eliminating the dealers altogether. Unfortunately dealers have too much liberty & tend to take customers for a ride at the cost of manufacturers reputation. They need to be made accountable for their deeds at some point!!

Hopefully sense prevails & your issue gets resolved! Good luck

Re: My Facelifted Jeep Compass S Diesel Automatic 4x4 (Galaxy Blue)

I booked a Model S (O2) 4x4 AT - Techno Green. Have an estimated waiting period of 3-4 weeks.

Any recommendations on floor mats? I am not too keen on having plain rubber mats, though the mopar mats provided seem to have a solid fit and quality.

Congratulations buddy, hope you hear the good news from the SA, sooner.

I have checked almost all good floor mats available in the market (online as well) and trust me Mopar Rubber mats are truly amazing, both in terms of quality as well as aesthetically. They are semi 3D mats with raised up corners. I am opting for these Rubber mats and the Mopar mudflaps as well.

Having said that, almost all of Mopar accessories seem overpriced, but I guess Jeep realizes what they're providing, isn't available anywhere in the market.
You can go for it as these are expected to last long.

Yes, spoke to their GM today and he agreed to upgrade my booking to Model S (O2), waiving off the entire component of Handling & Logistics. Also, managed to get a very competitive and cheaper quote on the Mopar insurance, from Edelweiss insurance.
I really urge everyone (if not doing already) to closely look and question all such unjustified cost components, so that the dealers stop taking innocent customers for a ride.

Anyways, desperately waiting now for my Galaxy Blue-2.0 Diesel Beast
