I did use a H7 HID kit from FeRetrofit. There are a lot of options in the market for H7 HID kits. You have to remove the bumper and fit in the KIT. It is a plug and play harness and no wires are cut. Just remember to get a Skoda/Audi LED headlight clamps, to avoid making any changes to stock clamps.

Status update ODO at 28000KMS

I did a 8 days tour to the Himalayas. The route taken was Delhi-Nainital- Rudraprayag-Joshimath-Mana village(halfway)- Auli- Rishikesh- Delhi.

The car performed flawlessly and I enjoyed thoroughly on the curves. A detailed blog about the last service and travelogue in on the way. Please enjoy a brief sneek a peek into the tour via this video.

ODO at 37000 KMS

My apologies for updating the thread.

My Rapid has done around 37K clicks on Odometer and has gone through the 3rd servicing. I did some mods on Audio and will update it in a separate post.

Right now, a steering noise issue is eating my head. Have updated the issue and course of action in the below thread.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post5460794 (Steering Noise in Skoda Rapid | Skoda ASC says its normal)

I recently did a 4300 kms road trip across Gujrat and will be writing the travelogue soon.

Thank you.

40000 KMS with a Czech Beauty | My Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI

The car clocked 40000 kms.

There were some hits and misses from Skoda. I am still getting the clunky noises from steering column after the rack replacement. The ordeal is documented in the below thread:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post5539934 (Steering Noise in Skoda Rapid | Skoda ASC says its normal)

1) Now, after the change to Sachs suspension, the tyres appeared very hard, as they were manufactured during 2015. The rubber was brittle and had a cut in the sidewall which was loosing pressure. This warranted a tyre change.

Due to the warranty debacle, was thinking on sticking to 185/60 R15. However, the grip was not like 195 section and this car, with oogles of Torque warrants atleast 195 section. At the end, you live only once to enjoy and think about warranty. Heard and read a lot in this forum about MRF Perfinzas. Was getting a tyre for INR 5400. Went to Rinku Tyres, Viksapuri Delhi and changed all fours to MRF Perfinzas. The Batch was 13/23 week manufactured and appeared soft hinting towards grip. Will update the forum on how it fares. Haven't driven much to comment on the characteristic. Got a calipers spray painted to orange. A funky look maybe

BTW, did try a few aftermarket alloys, didnot opt for them. The pocket size was thin. Leaving you all with a few pics.

2) Now the EGR valve was replaced when the car was at 17K KMS. Dont know its my vehicle or the part is weak, got the same part failure. Whenever I used to shut down the engine after 5-10 mins of drive, there was a air leakage sound for good 2-3 secs as documented in the previous thread.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...ml#post5056382

[/b] Since, I was somehow not feeling/ getting good customer service from Arya Skoda, Moti Ngar., this time thought of trying Ring Road Skoda, Jahangirpuri. The service manager there, Mr. Shankar was phenomenal in getting the error rectified. He picked up my car, got the part replaced and sent the car back, even before the warranty replacement was authorized by Skoda to save on time. Thumps up to Mr Shankar and Ring Road Skoda for their help on this one and for thinking on the lines of customer.

ODO at 45000

Hello Everyone,

The car is performing as usual and munching highway miles like it is nobody's business. On a personal front, moved to Bangalore. I drove the car from Delhi to Bangalore with halts at Bhopal and Hyderabad. The drive was uneventful.

Tyres: MRF Perfinzas were absolutely amazing. Loved the grip on offer and the braking was on point. Tyre noise, since it was pretty new, was pretty pretty low.

Brakes: Along with changes to the tyres, I did get myself a set of new EBC yellow stuff pads and ATE slotted rotors. The OE, like everyone knows are pathetic and incurs vibrations within just 6-7k kms. Installation was done at GT tuners and they did a fantastic job as usual. Flat in 1 hour time.

Airfilter: The airfilter was clogged due to the beautiful air quality index in NCR. Got that replaced too.

Weekend Drive to Coorg

After a couple of months, got time to visit Coorg. The drive was great with Bangalore Mysore highway in excellent condition. We were 3 families- all car guys. One Isuzu D- Max and Skoda Slavia in red. The Isuzu was the vehicle of choice to visit places not possible by Rapid or Slavia and we enjoyed some tea and Pakodas up there at view points chasing the clouds.

re: 45000 km with a Czech Beauty | My Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI | Now Remapped to Stage 1

Ah, life was cruising along but you live only once. So, there I was, stuck again with alloy boredom. The ride was to hit her 4th-year milestone, and I thought, "If not now, then when? Let's jazz this baby up!"

Now, you see, I had these shiny new 15-inch tires I had just put on a two months back. Talk about bad timing!

So, I started contacting every tire and alloy shop in Bangalore. Pahiya 4X4 from Gurgaon had the best prices including shipping. They offered a better price, including shipping, compared to others in Bangalore, and I knew they had a good reputation, so I placed an order.

Ironically, I had intended to order Pro Race wheels in 16 inches, which were designed to resemble Lenso Dyna Jager. However, Saurabh from Pahiya sent me bronze-colored alloys, which I initially doubted would match my car. My wife liked them, though, and her judgment was final – no arguing with that!

For the tyres, I thought of going for Continental UC6, which was pricier by 700 a tyre than Perzinzas. Gave them a pass, since, the perzinzas had great initial feedback and I thought of sticking with the same brand.

P.S. The old alloys and tyres (only ran 3000 kms) were sold for 25K. The new set of Perzinzas were 7650 a tyre.

Well, what can I say? Life's full of surprises, and sometimes, the unexpected turns out to be the best ride of all. So, here's to my quirky bronze wheel.

Re: 52000 km with a Czech Beauty | My Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI

Alright,

First thing first, apologies for the lack of updates, as I was busy moving across India as part of professional journey and the car held my tantrums too well.

Quick update: The car did hit 52000 KMs and like all status updates, it is running as smoothly as day 1. I got the 60000 service from Bangalore and it was a normal service, nothing major to mention. The running did go down last year and I have finished all the 4 services that I was entitled to with the SMP service pack.

Saving the interesting part for the last :

The car is now Code 6 stage 1 tuned. I did put a BMC air filter on top of this. The tuning was done at Code 6 Hyderabad. Did I mention, I moved from Delhi to Bangalore and then to Hyderabad in the last one year : driving across India, boot full of luggage and the car has never let me down and has been an absolute beast. I enjoyed every km I was behind the wheel.

Sorry to digress from the remap update. How does it feel:

Pros:

1) The car has genuinely become a rocket from 2000 RPM to 4500 RPM.
2) The revs climb much faster now from say like 1000 RMP. The lag (ever so slightly it was) is now gone.
3) City drive has become smoother. You just have to feather the throttle.
4) Feels like the input of throttle has improved with BMC air filter.
5) Saving the best for the last. The big meat of torque comes in after 2000 RPM and stays there. So from like 80 KMPH to double of it, it pulls and pulls. Overtakes : a piece of cake now.

Cons:

1) Cant think of anything, other than how to kill my urge to push the throttle to the metal to enjoy the diesel pull

Update 2:

Some more updates:

1) Like mentioned in my last post, I did get a BMC airfilter in stock location. Also, the air channel has been cut to let in the cold air from outside- just like the euro spec air channel. Saved some money there.

2) The stock rotors were abysmally bad. Somehow worked till 46K kms. Then decided to go for the ATE slotted rotors and second set of yellow stuff pads. The first set of yellow stuff pads with stock rotors lasted for around 35000 kms. Still had some 4-5K kms life left.

3) Suspension update:

I was running a set of TRWs are rear and Sachs at front. GERMAN CART, (they are on instagram) told me sometime back that they would have the actual part for Rapid rear shock soon in stock. I thought, why not go for full Sachs. Got the rear ones sent to me and installed them. The story now has to be divided into three parts hereon:

The Good Part:

1) The full set of Sachs were even better than Front Sachs and rear TRWs. The car felt it was driving on rails. Absolute beast on highways and lane changes were as smooth as butter. Braking improved significantly.

2) The city drive were not was smooth as TRWs and the car was STIFFFFF.

The bad part:

1) Although the car was amazing on Sachs rear, they were as loud as a plane crash. When you are slow and you tackle speed breakers or uneven roads, they were silent. No problems.

2) The moment you pick up speeds, specially on flyover joints and small rumble strips, there were loud thuds. An abnormal kind of loud thuds as if something is going to break. Maybe the shocks were not getting the rebound as they should have, then fast rebounds were necessary.

3) They were kind of frustrating and kind of killing the joy of having an amazing setup.

The Best Part

Before I start, mind you, this is not a SPONSORED POST. I have to admit I have never seen someone from India having so much customer centric behavior and after sales service. The guy from GERMAN CART, I still dont know his name, was in constant touch with me to seek the feedback as I was the first one to have a full Sachs set up bought from him.

1) I told him about the noise, to which he asked me to drive for 1000-2000 kms. I had to move cities and relocate to Hyd. I drove 5000 KMS with full load, no load, slow speed and high speeds. Gave the shocks enough time to settle in. Got the rear buffers changed as well.

2) Sachin_CS from our own team bhp forum also got the shocks and I asked him about this experience. He shared that he is also getting the same noise.

3) German Cart himself was constantly checking with me how the shocks were behaving. He told me that no one else if getting the noise that I am complaining about out of all shocks he has sold.

4) One fine day, he suddenly called me and asked me to share my HYD address as he was getting a new lot and asked me if I am ready to check the new Sachs rear. I got that shipped to me in 2 days, got them installed in next 30 mins and went for a drive for 100 kms straight.

The new ones were silent as they should be. There was slightly a little loader thuds from front and rear, compared to stock. BUT that is what you expect them to have when you are getting a stiffer set.

5) Called him up and updated him the status. He asked me to send the old ones to him, so that he can send them to company for detailed diagnosis and check why the old ones were making those loud noise.

In the end, I am as happy and content as a German car owner should be, when he is behind wheels of a stage 1 remapped diesel monster pushing the RPMS and getting pushed to his seat.

Until next time CIAO. Posting some pics.

The car does feel a lot more responsive and the surge definitely pushes you in the seat. One question is, are you getting any smoke when you are on wide open throttle ? What are your power and torque figures as claimed by the tuner?

Not so far, as far as I have noticed.

Great to see your ride getting to experience diverse parts of India. And great to hear that you are having better experience with the new rear sachs. As per our conversation, I have also informed the GermanCart guy that I would want to go ahead with the replacements. Let's see how much time it takes now, I am eagerly waiting to install the new shockers because current ones are still giving me slight thud noises.

P.S. Those bronze alloys go really well with the carbon steel shade.

His name is Ubaib if I'm not mistaken, and yes, his customer care is second to non. Bought a full set of Sachs from him as well for my Polo GT a few years ago.

Awesome! Very nice to see you hanging onto the car and tuning it rather than just selling it and buying another one! I truly feel with the right service, accessories and tunes the Polos/Ventos/Rapids should be amazing driver’s vehicles for at least 5-8 more years.

Could you please share some leads on where you sourced your brake pads and brake discs from? Also your views on both the parts in comparison to their stock components would also be much appreciated!

Cheers!
