What all accessories did you buy for your X3 M40i. The velour mats are included but I think the rubber ones are better, which one did you get?
What about mudflaps?
How much did ppf or paint protection, if any cost you for your car?

My car is loaded to the gills meaning I had selected all the options when building my car (except stuff like Tow hook and Roof Racks).

Honestly, speaking I didn't buy anything for my car in the 40-months of ownership except the mats they gave were rubbish so I got a rubber one.

Please search my thread and there is a post dedicated to rubber mats in the beginning of this ownership report.

Again, sorry to disappoint you. I have never spent a single $ on any kind of PPF/Ceramic Coat etc. Initially, I use to hand wash the car at home once in a couple of months but, now I go to a car wash and do the same-wash it once in 2-months.

The paint and shine is still like when I got it new. Here is an example of how it looks even after owning it for 40-months and not doing any special pampering (PPF/Ceramic Coat) to it.

These pictures are from last week after just a nice wash.





I feel ashamed that I didn't spend anything on it yet. ....Have some plans to spruce up the Blau Rakete. Will share when it happens.

Perhaps I was too abrupt asking you. I have booked X3 M40i in NCR and delivery is planned on coming monday. The car arrived yesterday in stockyard and questions were put in after PDI. The car is MY23 model imported from USA as CBU prompting me to seek your input which I would be needing more going forward.

Your car looks stunning and not more than a year old may be. Unfortunately we do not have this color option in India, only black and white. Initially there was brooklyn grey option as well.
Even I am not a ceramic or PPF man (believe in clean wash & wax- Collinite 845) but things have changed since I last bought an expensive car and thought of checking what people do aboard.

Woah. Congratulations yet again. You are darn lucky to get a car made in North Carolina, US which is the primary production plant here in the US. So, I assume you got the features that are not there in Indian variant like the adaptive dampers and other goodies (Heated Steering, Wireless Charging etc.) that is not available for India?

I can only tell you one thing, that you will fall utterly, Butterly in love with your X3M40i because it's such an amazing all rounder that there is no car within a long mile that can even be compared with it.

Even after owning it for 40-months and driving it for 55,000 kms, it brings a silly grin and such happiness to me when I am behind the wheel that I cannot express with words.

Thank you. I may have polished it at home around 3-4 times in my entire ownership report and just regular washes. It's always garage parked so nothing really special done to take care of her.

As you can see, it still looks stunning and makes me take pictures every time I drive it.

Blau Rakete finally hits the 35,000 miles (56,000 kms) mark last Saturday during a day-trip to Mt. Rainier.

Touchwood! Zero issues and nothing to complain. It still does what it's supposed to- Thrill you to the bones.

Last Sunday, we decided to get our first HIKE of the year under our belt.

We normally start with a simple one so we headed to one of our favorite hike spots called Deception Pass which is about an hour’s drive from home. It offers a simple hike of about 4-miles (6.5 kms) roundtrip with basic elevation of 500-600 feet and goes via beach and up the hill for some glorious views of the Deception Pass Bridge from the hillside.

Post hike, mandatory drive on the Deception Bridge. Once that was completed, en route we stopped in a quaint town which had a music festival going on. After listening to some beautiful live music and folks dancing, we stepped into a restaurant that was on the water and sat on the outside deck to enjoy a delicious lunch and then some gourmet ice-cream before heading back home.

It was a fab Sunday HIKE and one of the many that we plan to do this summer.

It's been a while I logged on to the forum. Have been super busy with work and vacation.

We just returned from a 8-day vacation driving the BMW to an exotic location and clocking 2500 miles/4000 kms in this trip.

I plan to share a travelogue in next few weeks as it's most beautiful place on earth.

Post that 4,000 kms trip, the bimmer got dirty so decided to get her a professional wash and once that was done, came home and did some interior cleaning with "Armor All" products.

Now it back in its full glory.

Post this 2500 miles/4,000kms Blau Rakete has now crossed 38,000 miles



Almost reaching home (July 7th) and look how dirty she got?



Shining like a crazy diamond after the wash.





Interiors all cleaned up- We had quite a few meals in the car. lol!

Thank you. And, the point to note is I have never done anything till date like :

1. Ceramic Coating
2. PPF
3. Professional Car Cleaning and Waxing

I just wash it at home or drive through car-wash. Even after 3.5 years, I'm so impressed with its build and paint quality. Looks brand new even now.

With regards to color- As a kid, I always dreamt that whenever I get a BMW, it has to be Blue as that color is synonymous with BMW. Next BMW, can be a different one. But, the first one has to be a "Blue". Love this shade of blue.

Great pictures, the car looks brand new. Did you get the extended service pack? I'm guessing after 3 years service cost should be much more than an average car. Also did you have any issues with the car in these years?

Thank you. Yup, it looks brand new whenever I get a nice drive thru car wash.

Let me break down the points :

1. Warranty

BMW has a 50,000 miles/4 Years warranty on the car which is valid until January 2025.

When I was buying the car earlier this year, I did contemplate extending the warranty and was quoted $3200 for 3 years. But, I postponed this purchase as I will buy it just before it will expire in Jan'25.

I'm given to understand this warranty will pay for itself as Brake Pad change will cost a bomb and is covered under warranty.

2. Service

I'm due for a 40,000 miles service in about 2-months and I have already identified an external garage who does only BMW. I will be getting my 40K service at that garage.

3. Issues

You will find it hard to believe. There has been ZERO issues with the car till date. Not a single rattle, No Mechanical or Electrical issues, No Tire Puncture to OEM tires. Absolutely nothing. Been "Rock Solid" all these 3.5 years. Touchwood !

Exciting thread for an exciting car! X3 M40i is quite a looker especially in this shade of blue. The car looks pretty new and I can only imagine how well it has been maintained. It definitely is the best car in its price bracket with the handling of a sedan and the practicality of an SUV topped with a missile of an engine.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Unlike most BMW owners on the forum, my maintenance on the car has been minimalistic and never spent a single dime on PPF, Ceramic Coating or any such fancy exterior or interior stuff.

Even then the BMW looks so refreshing even after owning it for 3.5 years says a lot about it's build quality.
