Thank you for sharing. I do watch their videos on youtube for latest info on new accessories. Please share your feedback especially during rain at night.
Also the price mentioned is for both high beam and low beam?

Aozooms have good performance across a lot of reviewers, esp in the delhi / himalaya road trippers scene. COngratz on your upgrade and happy mile munching!

Overall happy with the throw. I kept an eye on battery voltage for 30 minutes, no drop noticed. Need to test on highways at nights. I would give final verdict after few highway drives. As of now apart from scratches, happy with overall performance.
I have see Azoom performance on a Thar and can say that they are good.
I had made all sorts of arrangements on my Jeep Compass for better visibility but could never get satisfactory results. I tried HIDs, LEDs and also projectors in fogs. A couple of things from my experience:
  • The Compass does not have a separate high beam. And hence, the HIDs are almost useless as Dippers during the day time. HIDs take time to warm up and as dippers, you want immediate performance - something that the LEDs provide.
  • I have found the sweet color temperature for good visibility with modern bulbs is 4300K. Anything more than that creates too much white light which is not so great in rains or fog. I have seen white light on a few expensive cars such as the Endeavour and in presence of light on the road or rains or fog, they just dont work as well as Halogens.

I have driven last night for about 5 kms in pitch black dark roads within city limits, the illumination was more than enough. Really satisfied with the performance. There is single bulb in Compass which works both as high and low beam. However, I would reserve final verdict till I do a long trip in night on highways.

Thank you. Good to know they have good reviews. I was not sure about the brand and only had Phillips or Osrams in mind. However, a quick google search then and there gave good feedback initially, but still my mind was not fully convinced. I went ahead anyway because of shortage in Hyderabad, no one was having Phillips in stock. I could find Osrams in Amazon for around 9k, but not sure if they would fit my Compass. Hence took the sade route.

Later I was told by a friend that AutoRounders in Hyderabad would fix Osrams as they have inside contacts.

The good thing with these HID's is that they boot up within 2 seconds to full glory. I tested dipper in daytime and they did lit up instantly, though not at full power. The incoming traffic can see the dipper and thankfully it will not blind them. The ones installed in mine are 5500k.

Visited Car Sonics shop located at Minister Road, Hyderabad. Watched a lot of their YouTube videos and decided to check them out. As it was Saturday, they had crazy amount of vehicles. The overall experience was underwhelming.

As soon as I reached the location, I was approached by a person and he asked about my requirements. He gave quotation of just 1 model i.e. Aozoom HID's. As it was unknown brand I asked for Phillips or Osrams. He said not in stock anywhere in Hyderabad, I also asked in few other shops and got same response few days back.

They were pretty busy as it was Saturday, almost 10 vehicles undergoing work. Went ahead with installation, zero bargaining. He claimed this is best price in Hyderabad. The installation was done in a shabby way. The headlights got scratches which really pissed me off, gave the installer a piece of my mind, so he was careful on other headlight.

Overall happy with the throw. I kept an eye on battery voltage for 30 minutes, no drop noticed. Need to test on highways at nights. I would give final verdict after few highway drives. As of now apart from scratches, happy with overall performance.
This Carsonics store on Minister’s road appears to be a monopoly as it gathers almost all the business in that area with most cars flocking to it and the rest of the stores having to make do with the crumbs so to say. When I was on the lookout for LEDs as upgrade for my Innova Crysta Gx I found myself in the same scenario.Carsonics didn’t stock either Philips or Osram and they were pushing Aozoom and some other obscure brands. After a painstaking search I could lay my hands on Osrams in an adjacent store.
Perhaps they push these other brands owing to the better commission they fetch.

Finally got a chance to drive during rain at night. It was not heavily raining, but it should give a good idea about it's performance. I am pretty much satisfied with the performance at rainy night. I drove for 170 kms in rain and never once felt the illumination was insufficient.

You can find the video from my dashcam below. Please don't mind the fastag in the video which is blocking the full view.

Re: Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review

Got my first speeding ticket, I was actually double challaned for crossing speed limit on NH back in August. I challenged the double challan online, had zero hopes, but to my surprise the second challan was cancelled. Good job TS traffic police management The irony, I was not the one driving it.

Today went to get my vehicle washed, I then noticed the car wash guys were also doing minor accessories works on other cars. I casually enquired on LED fog lamps for my Compass, they quoted 5k for Blaupunkt LEDs (2 years warranty). DRL's were some generic brand and quoted 4.5k. The DRLs were very hard to find, so went ahead with generic brand (1 year warranty). The old hallogen bulbs were H11 Osrams. The old DRL bulbs were half smokey? They were ready to give up soon.

The DRL's output

The fog lamps output

Tried to change the cabin lights too, but the juice was not worth the squeeze. They said they will have to remove the whole unit and were not 100% confident. So dropped the idea. Now the turn indicators are the only normal yellow bulbs on front.

Not driven in night, so cannot comment on night time visibility yet. Overall happy with the DRL's performance, they look more modern now.

Re: Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review

It has been many days since I properly used my car. The itch to travel somewhere continues. This time visited Ammapalli Temple near Shamshabad. About five kilometres from the RGIA airport is the ancient Ammapalli Sita Ramachandraswamy Devasthanam. A Rama temple without Hanuman. Yes, you read it right. The Gali Gopuram is a magnificent work of art that rises some 80 feet into the air. Though it is similar to other gali gopurams in South India like Hampi and Tirupati, the one at Ammapalli is leaner.

This is the 2nd time I visited this temple. However, this time the gopuram was under renovation, workers all the way from Tamilnadu are working on it and it is fully covered, below pics from google to give context.

Credits to the original uploader. Tollywood loves this temple, many movie shoots took place here, the famous being the movie Murari starring Mahesh Babu and Sonali Bendre.

Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review-20211001.jpg

There is a large temple pond opposite the temple. The pond is surrounded by porticos and once it provided shelter to the pilgrims. The surroundings of the pond are filled with coconut trees. There is a mandapa opposite the temple. Many couples come here for pre-wedding/post-wedding shoots. You may find a few couples in the pics I took below

Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review-20221127_161331.jpg

Even though it was a weekend, there was no weekend rush. The darshan was done within minutes, there is a small canteen outside for some quick tea and snacks. Just opposite the temple entrance, there is a huge Hanuman statue. As this temple doesn't have hanuman, there he is standing outside with all his might. My Phoenix posing in front of him

Re: Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review

Had a chance to meet few fellow Jeep owners today in a farm house near Chevella in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Started at around 9:45AM and reached the location by 12:00 PM. Almost 19 Jeep owners met along with their families. Including 1 Trailhawk and 2 Merdian owners. Had great time by participating in few fun activities, many shared their experiences and how they ended up buying a Jeep. Followed by lunch and then again few fun activities. Looking forward for many such events.

Re: Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review

Hailstroms hit my Jeep yesterday afternoon, I was scared to death with the amount of hailstroms hitting my vehicle. I was over a flyover when it started and asked my co-passenger to record it (just in case I need to claim insurance). Luckily no damage was made, not even a single dent. Well done Jeep, well done, my respects.

Sorry for the crap resolution, it was a screen grab from video.

No damage or dents at initial inspection, will clean the car thoroughly today to check for any minute dents.

On the other hand, my father's Grand i10 was not fortunate enough last month . Claimed insurance, will create a separate thread on the whole incident.

I counted almost 50 dents, then lost count. Dents formed on top portion, bonet, doors and boot.

30k reached on my baby. No issues till date. Just zooming past Finally my usage has increased within city. Getting exactly 11 kmpl in day to day city usage at a maximum of 3rd gear driving.

Thought of taking the pic at exactly 30,000 but the thought skipped my mind. Maybe I will be able to capture the next milestone.

Re: Red Phoenix - My Used Jeep Compass Limited (D) MT : An Ownership Review

It was time for another Hyderabad Jeep owners meet. This time it was a bit different, the main objective of this meet was to get deccan Jeep stickers (Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Jeep owners whatsapp group). Around 34 Jeepers came with their families, had a nice breakfast buffet at Mrugavani Resort. Then we had one quick round of introduction, then stickers were distributed (100 rupees for front and back sticker).

Odo stands at 32k, this means I have driven 20k till date. No issues apart from the front wiper, which needed replacement and got damaged.

The customary Jeep lineup shot
