I hate to break this news, but as per Volkswagen's Official Repair manual, the most appropriate Oil Spec is VW 508, which is a 0W20 oil, which I had earlier read about from Prithwi Ray, when he was servicing his VRS and the dealership had no stock of this new 0W20 viscosity oil.

On the flip side, the second page mentions that you are fine with using older VW Compliant Oils, but you'd not enjoy the same efficiency and emission compliance.

Thanks for breaking this news. I contacted my dealer and as usual, he had no idea about it. Today he confirmed to me that it is 0W 20 over the phone.
During 2nd service only 0.5-0.6 l of oil was filled. This time I got lucky

T Roc Owner Manual says"To avoid damaging the engine, a maximum quantity of 0.5 litres of the following engine oil may be used until next oil change"

Re: Taco Time! Review of my VW Vento Highline+ TSI MT

After a week of on and off reading, I have finally managed to finish the entire review. Must say it is comprehensive and I was thoroughly entertained. Also a good learning experience for a newbie like me on how to write reviews as I'm in the process of compiling one.
Congratulations on the acquisition! The brown color looks really classy on the Vento!
Do keep us posted about the further experience, specially the service experience. I am in process of tracking the upcoming Taigun SUV which has got me interested and could be our next vehicle. That's why I'm reading up on Volkswagen ownership threads to know how I would be treated as a customer.
Thanks for the post! Cheers!

Thank YOU for reading!

I plan to update this thread every six months or so to balance out effort vs quality of updates. Already clocked 5k on the odo, barring small niggles, so far so good! First beauty mark on the driver side too.

Cheers Aviator.

Re: Taco Time! Review of my VW Vento Highline+ TSI MT

Hello, Sen. Congratulations on the new Vento. The review was extremely detailed and I enjoyed every second of reading it. I myself am considering a Vento 1.0 tsi Highline Plus. However, the dealer quoted me an OTR price of 13.8 lakhs. There was no mention of the 1 lakh discount that you received. The dealer appeared to have no idea that such a thing existed. Interestingly enough, they quoted 12.6 lakhs for a showroom demo car that had done around 7000km. So I'm confused at this point. Was this discount from the manufacturer or a special dealer level discount that you got? I am in Kerala, if that makes any difference. It is my belief that taxes are higher in Bangalore, so the price should technically be lower here.

This was last year when Volkswagen had good discounts on both the Vento and the Polo (Skoda too was not far behind with discounts on the Rapid Onyx, Ambition etc). You could see a spurt in the number of people getting their hands on the Polo at least if not Vento.

Here, AutoCar article on this. I don't think Volkswagen has this offer anymore.

It's your personal decision at the end but i wouldn't really touch a demo car due to the potential for misuse that exists (especially with ones that have a high revving turbo petrol engine).

Re: Taco Time! Review of my VW Vento Highline+ TSI MT

Yikes! Missed it by a month lol. Oh well, these things happen. As for the demo car, I was worried about the whole abuse aspect as well, but they agreed to throw in a 5 year service package as well. Thats 5 free services, one every year. Warranty + service package should cover anything that may go wrong, no? That was my reasoning anyway. Incidentally, what kind of faults can you expect down the line, owning a demo car?

Thanks! I tried to be as detailed as possible. The car is an excellent package mechanically, good choice if you're considering it! I lucked out with that deal, it was a VW deal as stated by JithinR, a stonker!

I got that price here In Hyderabad actually.

The second hand deal, depending on the model year and the condition it is in, could be further haggled down.

But remember, this thread details everything that can go wrong in a demo car, one from recent memory:

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...-now-what.html (Bought a Honda Amaze CVT Diesel demo car | Innumerable problems | Now what?)

Service packages/warranty aside, can YOU trust the car when so many heavy foots pushed the car from day 1? I wouldn't, not for a long term addition to my garage anyway.

Re: Taco Time! Review of my VW Vento Highline+ TSI MT

Hello! I have been following your thread since the start, a great write up
.
Now, we are looking to get a Vento TSI manual. The Turbo edition meets our requirement and in Vizag, the on road price is 10.2L ( at least that is what Carwale website states). The price at which you acquired your Vento Highline plus is just crazy! It costs 14.8L now in Vizag. Should I be negotiating with the dealer for any discounts? I'm okay with getting the car from Hyderabad. Can you help me with the price? I have not visited any Volkswagen dealership till date.

Thank you for your feedback! With regards to your questions, I strongly suspect that the model which you quoted as costing 10.2l is likely the highline variant, and not the highline+ variant with LED headlights.

The best strategy for reduction in price is to first ask for discounts, and also, take quotes from multiple dealers in your specific color. Once you have competing quotes, you can pit them against each other and also ask for accessories and insurance discounts, checking sites like coverfox along the way to help with further reduction as well. Dealer insurance is preferred for no hassles, but discount is king and the dealers know it.

PS - make sure you are not being charged handling charges which is illegal but they charge you anyway if you're not careful.

Sorry for the delay with my reply, been a hectic few months.

Great review and a belated congratulations for getting Taco home!
To be honest, I used to be an MT adventurer like you, then I took a hard clutch plate in the knee.
Maybe I am the DSGborn and I just don't know it yet.

P.S. Do feed Taco some Sweetrolls
And nice sticker on the phone. Freeman would be proud.

Coincidentally, I ended up getting a Vento as well. But it's a 2018 1.5TDI DSG Highline Plus

What a machine! I named her Seraph.

The best variant. I'd have sincerely considered that one like I did a used Jetta 2.0 TDI Highline from one of the other Team BHP members that I'd seen on the classifieds, even across the state. Those things were just made different, NVH be damned.

Agreed. Was eyeing a couple of examples and would have been a more suitable replacement. I was even look at the Passat but parents kept advising against it because it's literally Superb with a different badge.

This makes me want to retrofit paddle shifters to my Seraph as soon as possible.

But nevermind. I'm happy with what I've got. The small size makes city driving a bit easy and the handling and suspension is perfect (parents don't like the ride because stiff).

I intend to start serious touring once this damned virus goes away. Besides, the next upgrade would be either go big or go home.

Re: Taco Time! Review of my VW Vento Highline+ TSI MT

Sen - Thanks for this comprehensive review of your beauty. I am in the process of booking a highline + AT version in Bangalore. Have been in touch with Volkswagen Whitefield for same. Your review positively reinforces my desire to get this beauty. I have a quick question - I am on the heavier side (read 100 +) and almost 6'1. While I am not concerned about leg room behind the driver side as it will rarely be occupied, do you think the driver seats and general cabin space in front will be a comfortable space for a giant like me ? I did not find the cabin space a great place to be in when test driving a polo gt tsi some time back for giants like me. Looking Forward.
