D'betta-K'giri route was shown as an option by Maps when I stopped near Fingerpost for a coffee. My destination was actually bang in between in the Bandishola area though. Will try this route next time. I detest the Ooty-Coonoor stretch!

Drove Salem - BLR route through Krishnagiri yesterday. The diversions (not many and rather well organised) do not detract from the fun factor.

If you’re fascinated with the 36 hairpins, then guess thats your route. The several speedbreakers take a toll on the brakes and suspension not to mention the substantial increase in driving time.

Btw, if its Bandishola then its closer to Coonoor than Kotagiri and the Dodabetta route though far better would be circuitous.

But then, we live to drive, don’t we..?

EDIT: Cheapo of BMW to globally not activate those pre-LCI G20 inner beams. Would have made the look much better and improved the lighting throw and intensity. Do either the LCI I or II have them activated?

The LCI G28 have all 4 projectors functional in low as well has high beam. A lot of people I believe thinks I am on high beam seeing all 4 lit up even when am not.

This is what I have and they are the same on low and high. Really wonder why they cheapened out here. Could be because of the US vs EU lumen ceilings with the US being massively lower.

Maybe it is just me, but nothing in the automobile world looks more beautiful than a car that is dirty from a real and a proper road trip! Hope you will share more photos of that filthy car from that road trip soon. Looking forward to those.

Thank you for your kind words! Personally, I detest dirty vehicles and in particular sedans. Can accept my (earlier) Creta or Q3 in a muddy state, but not a pristine Cruze, Octavia or a 330i.

Unfortunately, this trip was not only impromptu but also work-oriented. Was on the verge of booking the newly launched VB to Madurai, but realised I could do it quicker and more conveniently in the 3. But no scope for any joyriding anywhere as I needed to be back in BLR for a PTM.

Incessant work travel means minimal usage of both the 3 and the XL6. Destined to be the same till early 2025.

Had a similar experience. Left BLR (Yelahanka) at ~0645, took ~1:15 hours to BME entry via GGPalya + ORR, 1:45 hours to MYS entry and then stopped multiple times peacefully including a suitably meaty momo brunch at Namdroling (Bylakuppe), and then finally Taj Madikeri.

The serenity of Namdroling Monastery was mindblowing notwithstanding the increasingly noisy (Sunday) crowd.

Return was equally peaceful with multiple stops. Google uncle kept trying to shunt us into shortcuts which we found were avoidable. BMW sedan 101 is to avoid all deviations from the main roads! Chose the MYS ORR and the beginning of the BME rather than chance the Sri'patna shortcut. At the BLR end, the BME was bilssfully chilled as was the NICE Road where had a blast upto 120.

BME was well-behaved as usual with only a few stray retards doing 130+. Had the satisfaction of seeing a couple of them caught at Ramanagra/Bidade cop checkpoints.
