Also, I want spacers to improve the stance and too skint to afford wider rims. Thinking of 13 mm for the fronts and 15 mm for the rears. Somewhat like these:

Burger Tuning: https://burgertuning.com/collections...kit-w-10-bolts
OR
Kies Motorsports: https://www.kiesmotorsports.com/prod...2d9f5d4c&_ss=r

Waiting for the anti-spacer brigade to leap on me like Musk + chainsaw on USAID.

What’s the stock size in your car? If it’s the staggered set up, isnt it wide enough?

As long as it’s not extremely aggressive, it should be alright. 10-15 mm is ok!

Extended lug-nuts are an absolute must. I see Kies and Burger Motorsport offer the spacers with extended lug nuts which is a good thing.

Since the spacer kit is small enough to be hand carried, you should consider getting pally with a “friend” from the USA scheduling his India visit soon.

Unfortunately my variant is the long-extinct Sport (known as the Sportline abroad) with a square 225/50/17 setup on 775M 7.5J alloys (https://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/bm...bmw-775-wheels)
Would love to upsize to fatter tyres on the 775Ms, but the ideal upsize (245/45/17) will be too fat for the rim width. :sadface

That is what I also thought after reading up Bimmer forums. A zillion folks are fitting them freely on the G20 in the US at least: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1603325

I just saw the Burgertuning spacer installation video. These spacers being hub centric and model specific (G20) , sit perfectly mounted on to your car's hub on the inside and the outside projection is also the same size as the original hub. Meaning the wheel also sits perfectly on to the spacer. You also get extended lug nuts which is very important. If installed properly like shown in the video I don't see any problem.

The only downside that comes to my mind is that you are adding an extra level of complication to a very critical safety aspect of the car which is the wheel. Those lugs nuts especially! They are are what are holding on to the wheels. BMW supplied ones Vs. aftermarket. Burgertuning is a reputed brand and can be trusted I suppose!

Go for it :thumbs up. Just be a a little careful every time you go to any tyre shop for wheel balancing etc... Hub centric spacers should be idiot proof, but you never know.

Ran some errands in the beater BMW. Parked well away from an intersection and just after a bus-stop-cum-urinal.

For those who know Bangalore, this is Yelahanka. Once a chilled peaceful neighbourhood and now Armageddon with a zillion (new) restaurants, dark stores, saloons, colleges, rampant spread of unregulated PGs and borewell drilling.

RIP! :sadface

Hello Bhpians,

I own a 330Li M sport with staggered tyre setup (225/45 R18 & 255/40 R18). These are Michelin PS4 ZP tubeless. The car has done 30k kms and the tyres need replacement.

I enquired at few places in Bangalore and it seems like this staggered size setup is only manufactured by Michelin and I have no option currently except the PS5, as PS4 are not available anymore.

Can anyone throw some light on this topic and let me know if there are any other alternatives in the market?

For the Michelins PS5 I am being quoted 1.27 lakhs for 4 tyres, which seems quite steep to me. If no other option then please suggest me places where I may get a better deal.

TIA

I’m guessing these are the rates for PS5 RFTs? Ask for the tubeless prices; should be much more reasonable.

You can then take a call on which type to go for.

P.S. -

By the way, just noticed this, “Michelin PS4 ZP tubeless”, and realised a basic error on your part.

These are the stock tyres and they are not tubeless, they are Run Flat Tyres “RFT”. “ZP” or Zero Pressure is Michelin-speak for RFTs.

These rates are for the tubeless Michelin tyres only. Any preferred dealer or wholesaler that you would know of in Bangalore?

Thanks for the clarification on existing tyres being RFT. Many folks have confused me saying different things about this one being RFT or not. Attaching a pic below as well:

Definitely RFTs (https://www.michelin.in/auto/advice/.../runflat-tyres) but can appreciate the confusion as it also has ‘Radial Tubeless’ stamped on the sidewall.

I’d recommend Madhus at Wilson Garden foremost followed by Millivision at Lalbagh and then the Sai Iyengar or SLNS Pitstops.

That pricing is okay considering PS5. The staggered setup in same Tyres is difficult to source. You have more availability of performance tyres in 255/40 (PS4, PZero etc.) but lesser in 225/45. My suggestion is go with PS5 in that pricing as it should be better performance one than PS4. If you can manage to get PS5 in tubeless and staggered, even better as pricing might be slightly lesser.

Thanks a lot for the information. Also, what should be the max age of the tyre that can be considered? Meaning, should I only consider a tyre less than 6 months old?

Thank you for the guidance. I am getting PS5 tubeless in staggered setup and will most probably go ahead with the same.

Did you get them? Seems to be negligible price difference between PS 4 & 5 around 1K/tyre in my 225/50/17 stock size.

On another note, will no doubt miss (as and when) the simplicity of my Sport with the minimalistic dashboard design, plethora of high quality physical buttons and knobs, and that ‘tiny’ screen.

Can foresee any vehicle upgrade having the full fat 12.5” screens and whatnot. Sometimes, less is more! :D

Yes, got the PS5 installed last week. Had to change all 4 tyres as existing were RFTs. Now the ride feels slightly better with tubeless ones. Below snapshot is after the installation of new tyres.

I too prefer the presence of physical buttons and the minimalist design of pre-LCI models. The only thing I really miss is the keyless entry system, which was there in the 2021 models (mine is MY2022). Although, BMW also removed features like 360 degree cam, HUD and wireless charging as well, however these are easy to live without.

Was keyless entry (BMW Comfort Access) ever offered in pre-LCI G20s? I think not but could be mistaken.

On another note, a visitor parked their current-gen Honda City next to my 3, and I couldn't but help note the remarkable similarities from the back. The City looks like a smaller slightly disproportionate version.
