I'll soon provide all details on the damping, before the end of this month for sure.

Hi Shashi, wouldn't the dashcam mount (or the suction/adhesive) get heated up and melt, damaging the windscreen due to the summer heat in our tropical weather?

I had a dashboard mobile holder in my old car and its suction cup melted and fused to the dash, so worried about this.

Best,
Chandra

Hello,
The dashcam mount uses a 3M adhesive, and the mount itself is pasted over a thin transparent sheet which 70mai calls as Electrostatic sheet. Link

There is absolutely no risk of the mounts getting damaged due to heat.

I am having “DampMat” since September 2013 and it has held well here in Northern India. No odour and no issues upon removal and repasting.

Bulk pack of 10 sheets (40 sq. m) costs around 10k now as far as I remember. The quality is at par with Dynamat in my personal opinion.

There are two more options that I have seen people opt for in a S-Cross group.
1. CTK
2. Vibromax

Yes. That's a new part number but same part. I've been told the old part number is now discontinued and the new part number is available with slightly different price.

Came across this case on FB: First let's learn more about the case. Screenshots of gentleman's post:

My take: It's clear that the oil pan is pierced at the point of impact, and to me it looks like a case of flying projectile from tyres since there is no impact mark on the front plastic trim covering the lower member, and the point of impact is also quite deep inside compared to surrounding areas which look clean.

In past I've also come across similar cases where critical engine components got damaged without owners actually running over anything. For example:

My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review-sss.jpg

This is precisely the reason why I got Engine guard installed in my XL6 which is an OE fit in DualJet equipped Dzires and Swifts. Link to the post

Maruti should acknowledge this and not indulge in such misery, and offer engine covers at least as an accessory to all existing and future owners.

Shashi

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Update: The Odo is rolling very slowly thanks to purely city drives in heavy traffic. In city efficiency is between 14-15kmpl. Except that, there's nothing much to update:

PS: I did spot that chap painting in open just behind my car, hence came back and removed my car from this spot.

Shashi, have you heard of Car Suspension Stabilizers? Here is the link: https://carstabilizerpro.com/
Watched a video on Facebook (it is not in English) and it looks interesting. Does it makes sense for XL6?

Best avoided. XL6/Ertiga's suspension is very mature and car-like and is no "boat" that you need to do such jugaads. These things mess with a lot of things in the longer run and are best avoided IMO.

Re: My first car: 2020 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Alpha MT Review

Good morning.
Completed close to 21K on my XL6. Thanks to. the jeypore(Odisha)-bengaluru-ooty-bengaluru- jeypore ride. Trip was approx 3600kms. Now since odo has crossed 20k, it's due for routine checks. Apart from changing engine oil (0W16)+ oil filter, topping up of brake oil, WA+WB, what other job should I expect and what should be my priority of getting it done. This is just for my reference and knowledge.

Thanks and regards
Sunny

Congratulations on the milestone. Coincidentally, my XL6 completed 15k km today.

20k service mandates Engine oil and oil filter change, brake oil(including clutch fluid) and coolant change. Refer your owners manual and get only needed jobs done. WB and WA are optional at MASS and best done outside at specialized places, unless your MASS is known to do an exceptional job. Also strongly advise Wheel rotation every 5k or 10k km. I follow 5k rule since I'm able to do it at home.

************************************************** ***********

Update: The XL6 crosses 15k on the odo. Plan to give it a nice wash at home, followed by some TLC and wheel rotation.

I wasn't planning any cabin damping for my xl6, but a few things I did has had a huge impact on cabin noise

Upgraded tyres to Yokohama Blue Earth. They are really quiet (but with softer sidewalls )

Did vinyl flooring - this reduces road noise too

But the maximum impact was by using noodle mats as floor mats. It's a DIY job, and the noodle mats have been cut out to cover almost the entire floor area. The noodle mat is more than a centimetre thick, and I think it's excellent at noise damping.

All this was done on the very day of delivery. So I am not sure how bad the NVH is, without these changes. But I found it difficult to understand why everyone in the forum complains about cabin noise in Ertiga and xl6, because I am used to getting compliments from fellow passengers on a silent cabin.

It took me a long while to realise that these changes I did to my xl6 must be largely responsible for the quieter cabin.

Road noise is very controlled in my case too, thanks to Michelins. Hence I didn't go for floor damping as a priority. But yes I can assure you that on stock tyres, road noise is pretty high.

My issue was the amount of traffic noise which got into the car, like you could hear someone's conversation if he/she is standing next to your car or the sound of bike's engine or an auto's clatter which is parked next to your car. That was a true pain in XL6 and one of the worst I had experienced in recent times. Or, the tabla like sound the roof makes during heavy showers. Yes I've dealt with even the roof and it has made a huge impact.

The sound insulation immensely helped with that and I've procured some more sheets to complete the floor and left over panels during the coming weekends. I guess a single post with every detail will be better than making 2 separate posts about damping/insulation. Hence waiting for a couple of more weeks.

Regards,
Shashi

PS: In some other news, the XL6 is due for some TLC. Have removed the wheels for Rotation and brakes cleaning. Also intend to wash and detail it thoroughly along with a possible oil change(haven't really inspected the condition of oil yet). Earlier I was determined to follow 5k oil change intervals, but will check condition of oil before taking a call. It looked fine around the 14k km mark, but since then the car has done only heavy traffic runs within the city. So oil may have deteriorated.

Look forward to your posts on sound damping.

I haven't really faced the problem of traffic noise percolating into the car. Since I have done only floor damping, and no damping on the doors - Makes me wonder if the traffic noise is actually percolating through the floor, while it's commonly assumed that it is percolating through the doors.

Another remote possibility is that Maruti has quietly done some sound insulation updates. Mine is a Dec 2020 manufactured car. Those who have xl6 manufactured in 2021 can perhaps share their experience with sound insulation in their xl6.
