Hahaha! I can't explain what happened but I can offer a funny incident that happened to a friend.

Many years back, before iPhone was in India legally, my friend bought a jailbroken iPhone. Now clearly the guy who broke the code (wrote new code?) had a sense of humour. Because the iPhone no longer displayed the Apple logo. Instead it displayed a Pineapple in its place. And my friend, having switched from Jellybean Android, didn't think anything was amiss assuming Apple, like Android and their candy versions, changed the logo to some sort of fruit every time the IOS updated.

re: Super Hornet | Our 2020 Toyota Glanza V MT | EDIT: Sold!

That is very interesting.
I always thought that presence/absence of some piece of hardware would have decided the “ if Suzuki or Toyota” question and just not a purely software decision.
It would be interesting to see if there are any features unique to Glanza and not in Baleno? If so, do those feature(s) work, now that your car thinks it is a Suzuki?

PS: as with others, couldn’t resist quipping.

...why is the Suzuki logo being display on the touchscreen?

The FE data from trips is still there and audio settings are still the same, therefore I can safely rule out a factory reset. If the system had done a factory reset during the automatic reboot event couple of days ago.

The software version is still the same as before - 1920
Quite a possibility that Toyota just overwrite the splash screen (boot logo) with with their own and due to some glitch, the splash screen file got corrupt and hence the system revert to the stock splash screen file.

It was a fad amongst the android enthusiasts to change their phone splash screen with custom graphics once upon a time.

re: Super Hornet | Our 2020 Toyota Glanza V MT | EDIT: Sold!

Reminds me of an old story, apparently Huawei once posted a firmware upgrade link to its users, they didn't even care to host it, it pointed directly to Cisco domain

Cut some slack for the software folks, I can always imagine,

QA: "Bug!, sometimes we show Suzuki logo. What is the priority?"
Product Owner: "As if they don't know where Glanza is coming from. Ship it!"

Damn! Someone's having an identity crisis!

Well, this is what comes to my mind

"You can take Toyota out of Suzuki, but you just can't take Suzuki out of a Toyota" can you!

Cheers!

To quote bhpian Leoshashi - "The Ghost of Suzuki came out"
Indeed. In fact, 1920 is also the title of the horror movie series from Bollywood -

Whenever your friends said - "Oh! You took a Baleno?" and you replied "No! It's a Toyota! It's a Glanza!", there was a count marked inside the cars soul. The number of counts have exceeded and Tadaaa!!

No worries Sir, the event is truly comical and worth a laugh. Although surprised, I had a hearty laugh when I first saw it and shared so that others laugh too.

Yes, and the key FOB graphic is also that of the 2015 Baleno Key FOB(although on the MID, the key FOB graphic is correct - that of the 2019 facelift Baleno/Glanza).

Thanks for that. This is what probably might have happened.

I intend to to drop the car at the workshop in the next couple of days not only for this but for a minor bumper paint job. Shall update.

As confirmed by the SA, a software update would correct it. Although it is nothing major, let me see if I can get a confirmation from the workshop what might have happened or if such an issue has been reported earlier to them.

Alternatively if your car is out of warranty you might as well take it to the Suzuki workshop and have the remaining components of the car rebadged to a Suzuki.

Sounds like the Madras Sappers regiment. I love the way they have written it outside their gate.

Anyhow I think replacing the steering wheel with Suzuki should fix the problem.

The Average FE has most of the times been above 17 kmpl with A/C on all the time - a mix of 60% highway driving & 40% city driving and extremely light footed driving upto a max of 85-90 kmph. The FE increases dramatically on the highway. Coasting on Idle helps as well. Thanks to the light weight, the car at times is able to maintain speeds at idle RPM in higher gears.

What FE are you getting in pure City conditions? Mt 2022 Glanza is getting ~13.5 kmpl with 90% city driving. Trying to get and idea for how the added weight in the newer version is impacting FE

While driving to the workshop to get the issue resolved , I noticed one more anomaly on the Andriod Auto Screen- Maruti Suzuki App was also being displayed. Clicking on it was causing Android Auto to crash.
Super Hornet | Our 2020 Toyota Glanza V MT | EDIT: Sold!-ice_ms_app.jpg

Anyway, the issue the got resolved when they updated the software. The new software version is T2010(as compared to 1920 earlier).

Apart from the Suzuki logo issue, also asked them to:
1. Change both the Front Wiper blades
2. Check the Key FOB Battery low issue
3. Left side ORVM Motor sound (it was making a crackling sort of noise when the mirror was adjusted up or down).

Resolutions:
1. Both Wiper blades Changed - Rs 559.32
2. Key FOB battery was changed - Rs 160.48
3. Lubrication done. Crackling Sound no longer there.

Labour Charges - Rs 136.88

Total Bill - Rs 857.00

Repaint work:
The right side of front bumper was badly scratched by our dog when a cat went and hid inside the engine bay. It was an eye sore for me and wanted to get it repaired. The left side too had a deep scratch thanks to a thoughtless biker!!!

The left side quarter panel(under the fuel tank lid) had minor debris impact marks after a truck's tyre burst. The paint was gone and I was worried that the underlying metal would start to rust.

So got the front bumper and quarter panel repainted. Total Bill was Rs 9253.
Super Hornet | Our 2020 Toyota Glanza V MT | EDIT: Sold!-bdy_bill.jpg

While the front bumper repaint job was near perfect, the re-paint on the quarter panel had a noticeable color shade difference ( it was too dark).

I brought it to the notice of the SA- Mr Sujay who promptly expressed his intent to get it right by repainting the quarter panel. When I took the car to the workshop a week later for the corrective repaint job, he agreed to get it repainted without giving any excuses or looking at ways to wriggle out of the issue.

The job done and now there is no color difference between the repainted quarter panel and the rest of the car:

I understand that re-painting & matching light colors like grey, silver, beige can be tricky and it isn't easy to 100% match the color. But this repaint job is near factory finish( no haziness/ roughness/overspray etc), which is great!!

With around 40% highway driving and 60% city driving, these are the FE stats of my car...A lifetime average of 16.84 kmpl (max : 18.09 kmpl, Min- 15.09 kmpl)
