Congratulations on the 4 GC. The 4 GC is one of the beautiful and a functional car.

Why did you goto the Niederlassung? I would have already told you to stay away from them. Never go to them for service. Try Autohas Michael-schmidt, Germering (where I usually go and they a good bunch) or Automag, Hirschgarten (there is always a mixed experience, depends on your Service berater (advisor)).

Also, did you get any discounts on the purchase? Usually, one can broker some deals with "non-Niederlassung" authorized dealers when buying or even in leasing deals.

Where in Munich are you? Welcome to Munich. Should catch up.

Re: BMW 430i Gran Coupe - Ownership Review

Superb Review! The car is a looker and sets it apart from the sea of BMWs we see in Germany.
Can you please throw some light on Getting a license in Germany? I have moved 2 months back and plan to get it soon. Have been hearing/reading so many confusing things about the process.

Thanks Vid, yes it is indeed a Ford Thunderbird! A rare sight in Germany though. Sad that it is rusting in that corner.

Congratulations! She looks like a million bucks (in india at least, she is what she seems ). But I’m confused: Is there any significant difference over the 3 series and the 4? Would be great if you could throw some light on this.

Re: BMW 430i Gran Coupe - Ownership Review

Hearty Congratulations on new drive, and wishing you many many happy miles on it!

I had rented the 430i Gran Coupe for 1 day while I was in Netherlands last year. Since it was with me only for a day I never really got to explore all her features, but I am supremely happy with the 24 hours that I spent with her. From my limited experience of driving the 430i -
1. I used to feel a vibration in the steering wheel if the car is not 100% parallel with the lane (at a speed of >80 km/h). I mean a small tilt here and there and the steering used to vibrate. Not sure if it's a safety feature as that's something I couldn't really figure out at all.
2. Also, does the GPS navigation have English translation? I remember parking the car on the exit ramp of the highway for a good 30 min and trying to figure out how to get the GPS to start as the entire system was in Dutch. And with my mobile battery drained off, I had to rely on my very limited Dutch language skills

I had to go to Niederlassung since I was buying through my company lease. Will keep in mind for next time. Thanks.

I'm in Oberföhring. I will PM you and let's catch up. I know couple of other Tbhpers here.

I think it's a thunderbird, indeed a rare one in Germany, the owner has kept it for rework.

Yes the whole unit can changed to English setting.

Well, the exterior built is different and looks completely different to 3. But under the bonnet they are all the same. Due to the low stance of 430i, there is a difference on how they handle.
3 GT has lot more space inside obviously and gets a bigger boot as well.

Where in Germany are you? PM me your number and I can call and explain. It's easier that way.
