You're actually not alone who've said this to me. After taking a drive around, and post the initial price shock (30L for a Hyundai, Fortuner/GLA/Q3 etc. kyun nahi le lii yaar?!!), quite a few friends have actually said that they feel the car is more than worth it.

Nah, I hardly ever use the key to (un)lock the vehicle. The beep comes on no matter how or when you unlock the car. However, the lock beep is silent when the tail gate is open. Needless to say, I try to lock the car mostly when the tail gate is open to avoid this extremely irritating and senseless beep, which quite frankly, if they absolutely had to put it in, should've been an option.

The new 5 series will be the first car out to support wireless CarPlay. I don't know why Apple even launched CarPlay with wired only mode.

USB is CarPlay only. Anyway, I don't think there's any perceptible loss to audio quality over bluetooth. CarPlay (USB) is too incomplete an experience for now, as I've mentioned in the review.

I'm glad that you found it useful. I'm waiting for the official review too!

Actually, the test drive cars weren't provided, atleast close to launch. These were just demo cars. The dealership allowed me to take the car on a TD because I'd been in touch with the SA for a few months about the Tucson. The demo car we took out for the drive had no registration or insurance!

Powershine Exterior treatment. It's basically claying, washing, polishing and waxing. The car was full of swirl marks when I received it from the dealership. I could find none after 3M treatment. 3M guys told me that the protection from this treatment should last for about 6 months. It doesn't. Even though only microfibre and the Jopasu duster have been used for this car, I can see a lot of swirl marks making their way back. Surface hydrophobia, which to me was their biggest selling point, has disappeared too. I'll take the car back to 3M soon to see what's up.

Man that is some setting. Have you shared pictures of that anywhere? Would love to see.

This is quite an achievement for Hyundai design in my opinion. All the Germans I know (and I know quite a few of them) only like German or European cars.
He bought it in October and he is the only German I know who owns a non European car. |
Hahaha. That's praise Hyundai would probably love to hear. Funnily, quite a few people, after taking a glance at the new car have asked me if this was an Audi.
I don't know how, maybe it was in "suggested" or "trending" videos or something but I wound up watching live the worldwide launch of the Tucson in 2015 on YouTube. They mentioned something about this car carrying next decade of Hyundai design philosophy or something. I remember that moment when they first unveiled the car. I was floored even then. I wasn't even thinking of buying a new car at the time, and I never thought I'd actually get one someday.

Honestly, if you factor in volumes, economies of scale, our taxes etc., and considering Euro 38000 comes to INR 266000, that's not bad. That Hyundai ends up making more per sale on the Tucson in US and Europe than in India is not too far fetched a thought.
