Re: The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2

Service Update: 35,000 km (August 2019)

The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2-img20190816wa0010.jpg

Though this was a minor service (5k interval one) but had planned to change the brake pads this time around as they needed a change (front set).

Total Bill was INR 9226/- (Incl. Taxes)

However next day i wasn't satisfied with the performance as the new brake pads were giving too much vibrations (felt in steering during braking)
This persisted after two long trips too (hence was not the case of breaking in the pads). So obviously the front discs needed skimming.
Hence on 20th August resent the car to Millenium Toyota for this work & it took almost half a day to get the skimming done.
Once both the surfaces (slight scrubbing of pads with sand paper & discs cutting/skimming) were smooth it was indeed a job well done

Total cost of skimming & labour was aprox INR 2200/- (Incl. Taxes)

Now the brakes feel fantastic & no vibrations observed till date

Paintless Dent Repair

A few weeks back, part of a tree came resting down on to my Fortuner;

The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2-1576047690142.jpg

The Fortuner took the weight of the tree (not shown in picture as it was cleared once i arrived) & impact pretty well as nothing else was damaged.

The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2-1576047698503.jpg

Got it repaired through the ' Paintless Dent Repair ' procedure. This is how it looks NOW;

The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2-1576047706724.jpg

95% looks like back to normal, however a small line is visible from some angles. Can live with that as this helped preserve the original paint

Total Cost: INR 2200/-

Re: The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2

Service Update; 40,000 kms

It was time for a major service for the Fortuner as the odo hit 40k kms.
The work done was Engine Oil Change, New Oil Filter, New Rear Brake Pads, Rear Disc Skimming, Brake Fluid Change, Element Air Filter Change, Differential Oil Change (1st time), Propeller Shaft Greasing, 4 tyre rotation, interior vacuuming & car wash/service etc.

There was a bit of an issue with the A/C blower (front) which had stopped throwing air from the middle 2 vents, it got diagnosed to the blower motor which started working again after the service guys re-flashed it.

The service was done @ Lakozy Toyota Goregaon & they did a great job

Total Cost was INR 16,051/- (Incl. GST)

Hi Karan,

Could you point me in the right direction for paintless dent repair in Mumbai? I have a fairly large but inconspicuous dent on my Vento's fender, would love to get it fixed without involving insurance and VW After sales.
How long did it take for them to work on your Fort and repair that dent?

You can contact Mr Sudhir Gaikwad (+91 9552629516) for the same.

Though he is based in Pune but he does come down to Mumbai often to service such repairs.

Re: The Brute-Fort: My 2016 Toyota Fortuner 4x4 M/T, Now upgraded with BF Goodrich T/A KO2

The Fortuner finally had the opportunity to stretch it legs on the highway & it was one of the most rainy days.
Here are some pictures from an interstate run on NH48;

During a recent filming of a video for my YouTube channel KKC On A-Motive my Fortuner was the support/camera car, here's a pic with the RR Evoque for size comparison sake;

Yet another run on the NH8. Looks like the pic got Clicked at that Lift Off Oversteer correction moment or may be not or may be yes . Note the New gen Fortuner even in the 4x4 form is not a fulltime 4wd (like the previous gen) but a RWD in normal mode.

How tangible is the difference at high speeds on wet roads, Karan? Especially with that tread pattern of yours.

Have done quite a few road trips in Monsoons & wet roads, i am very comfortable maintaining healthy speeds on highways during rain & the overall aquaplaning resistance is good. No complaints at all

Hi Karan,

Couple of questions pertaining to the M/T flavor of the Fortuner:

How is the clutch holding up after as many kms/years as well as off-road/city drives? Has it become too hard compared to when it was new?

I believe the dead pedal is as good as non-existent in the Fortuner. Is that a point of inconvenience for you?

Cheers...

Hi,
The clutch is holding up well for sure and no complaints at all in the city or on the highway. To compliment the clutch the iMT Rev Matching IMO is exceptionally great & under talked feature of the Fortuner. Also sorry for the delayed response as i skipped seeing your post.
Regards !

Thanks, Karan. Any concerns with the dead-pedal (or the lack of it)?
