Re: Silk Blue VW Jetta 1.4L TSI - My BlueJay joins duty

6 years and 6 months.
Two days ago, EPC light came up suddenly during drive and car started mildly shaking. Slowed down and returned home within 10.kms. 2 days later when I started the car and surprise! The EPC light vanished and car asked me 'What shaking. ?'

However, didn't want to take chances and today I took the car to VW S.S. in Tirunelveli.

Spark plugs were ok. One of the Ignitor coil got melted at the top and was replaced. No other fault was diagnosed. But, the technician opined that the EPC might repeat, as the wiring and pins look worn out. A full harness replacement would cost about Rs. 40k he added. Drove back home about 80 kms with no trouble. Hope the problem doesn't repeat.

Q: Should I go for full harness replacement?

No, unless issue is root caused, doesn't make sense to jump for harness replacement. 6+ years is too early for harness and pin wear out.

This may be early warning of the car Battery going down.

My battery is now 3 years + 9 months old, Ameron. You warned me right I suppose. I am going to check battery real soon and might even change if required.
Thanks a lot.

Yesterday I got the battery checked. Acid was ok and load test showed up some struggling, the technician said. Having passed 3 year warranty, I didn't want to take any chances. I ordered new battery Ameron Pro 66, which Ameron itself recommends for Jetta 1.4 TSI. Paid Rs.11k, + old battery.

Manufactured Jan 2023. Thanks again to @manjubp.
