re: Preview: Ford Endeavour

Excellent pricing for a car this capable! It is actually cheaper than it is in Australia. Kudos Ford!
Just need to confirm if they are offering the same equipment levels.

re: Preview: Ford Endeavour

Did a rough calculation for on-road prices here in Bangalore, this is what roughly it comes to:

Trend 4x2 MT-29lacs
Trend 4x4 MT- 31.5lacs
Trend 4x2 AT-30lacs
Trend 3.2- 32.6lacs
Titanium 2.2-32lacs
Titanium 3.2- 34.5lacs

Some Observations:
1. Fantastic pricing by undercutting current gen Fortuner.
2.2.2 4x4 MT is a little overpriced in my opinion. 2 lacs for just 4x4 system is a little too much.
2. Again 2.2 Titanium is slightly on the higher side compared to trend. 2lacs for additional 4 airbags, HID etc.
3.I feel Titanium 3.2 and Trend AT 2.2 are best VFM.

re: Preview: Ford Endeavour

Ford has stumped Toyota big time. Toyota would have to eat the humble pie when they launch the new Fortuner later this year. If this doesn't become the leader in the segment, I don't know what else would. I wish they succeed, or else Toyota will never climb down from their high pedestal.

Good pricing. One thing that this might do is to ensure that Toyota is unable to hike prices for the new Fortuner and the new Innova to the tune of what people are speculating. The war between the Endeavour 2.2 AT and the XUV500 AT has started in my head as the potential replacement for the Innova which will be sold in March this year.

Fantastic pricing! This will ensure that Toyota launch the new Fortuner at a good price and keep it loaded as well.

Will make an excellent field at the end of this year with these two behemoths fighting for the sales pie and offering festive and year end discounts. This year's festive season will indeed be good.

  1. 2.2 4X2 MT Trend to 2.2 4X2 AT Trend --> Addition of Automatic Transmission (Add around Rs. 1.5 Lakhs)
  2. 2.2 4X2 AT Trend to 2.2 4X4 MT Trend --> Deletion of automatic transmission but addition of significant amount of 4X4 gear (Add around Rs. 2 Lakhs)
  3. 2.2 4X4 MT Trend to 3.2 4X4 AT Trend -> Major upgrade to top of the line engine and transmission (Add Rs. 2 Lakhs)
  4. 3.2 4X4 AT Trend to 2.2 4X2 AT Titanium --> Smaller engine and removal of 4X4 but addition of various Titanium level features like parking assist etc. May not be a major pricing step, I expect the pricing to be on par)
  5. 2.2 4X2 AT Titanium to 3.2 4X4 AT Titanium --> Addition of larger engine and 4X4 features (Add at least Rs. 3 Lakhs here)

To make variant pricing meaningful for the customers and recoup costs of added equipment in each variant, Ford will need to have a Rs. 8.5 Lakh price difference between the lowest and highest variants. My prediction is, the base variant will start at Rs. 22 Lakhs ex-showroom and top variant will be Rs. 30.5 Lakhs ex-showroom.
I liked the way you worked out. But Ford India has surprised us with very narrow difference in pricing of variants.

Keeping the base price of 2.2 Trend 4x2 M/T at 24,75,094, they hiked price of 2.2 Trend 4x2 A/T by just 78,374 and further by 1,82,876 for 2.2 Titanium 4x2 A/T

Again comparing to base 2.2 Trend 4x2 M/T, they increased price of 2.2 Trend 4x4 M/T by just 1,93,324.

Finally, again comparing to base 2.2 Trend 4x2 M/T, they hiked the price by just 3,03,048 for 3.2 Trend 4x4 A/T (Small price for big jump in engine size, Auto transmission and 4x4 hardware) and further Rs. 1,68,246 for 3.2 Titanium 4x4 A/T.

Its really surprising to note this narrow difference in pricing especially, of 3.2 variants which suddenly feels like very good value for money.

Here, Ford is comparing the prices of new Endeavour to old Fortuner (with an eye to grab its major market share) whereas in other parts of the world 3.2 4x4 A/T is compared with Prado, Discovery, Discovery Sport and what not..! That makes it a steal for us.

Now its all up to Ford to meet the demand arisen by initial hype by ensuring optimum supply without long waiting periods.

Good pricing but I don't get why they announced with Ex-Showroom Mumbai with Octroi pricing instead of a basic without Octroi ex-showroom which is lower and a better marketing approach.

Ford Endeavour launched in India at Rs. 24.76 lakh

Ford has launched the new Endeavour in India at prices starting from Rs. 24.76 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The SUV measures 4,892 mm x 1,860 mm x 1,837 mm (length x width x height). It has a wheelbase of 2,850 mm and ground clearance of 225 mm. The Endeavour is available with a choice of 2 diesel engines - a 2.2-litre (158 BHP / 385 Nm) mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AT; and a 3.2-litre (197 BHP / 470 Nm) mated to a 6-speed AT only. Both are available in 2 variants - Trend and Titanium. 2.2-litre prospective buyers have the option to choose between a 4x2 or 4x4 + manual in Trend trim or a 4x2 + AT in Trend and Titanium trim, while the 3.2-litre is available with 4x4 + AT only in both variants.

The ARAI fuel efficiency ratings for the Endeavour are 14.12 km/l (2.2L 4x2 MT), 12.62 km/l (2.2L 4x2 AT), 13.50 km/l (2.2L 4x4 MT) and 10.91 km/l (3.2L 4x4 AT).

Some notable features in the Trend variant are ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators and electronic adjustment + fold function, leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering & gear knob, 8-way electrically adjustable driver's seat, rear parking sensors, rear view camera, dual-zone climate control, rear air-con + ceiling vents for rows 2 & 3, rear wiper + washer + defogger, power lift tailgate, rain sensing wipers and cruise control.

In addition to these, the 2.2-litre Titanium variant gets LED tail-lamps and LED DRLs, interior ambient lighting, auto headlamps with HIDs + jet wash, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitor and side puddle lamps. The 3.2-litre Titanium variant further gets an electric panoramic sunroof, power folding 3rd row and semi-automatic parallel park assist.

Terrain management system and hill descent control are standard with the 4x4 variants.

All variants are equipped with a TFT touchscreen infotainment system which supports CD, Aux-in, 2 USB ports and Bluetooth. The car is equipped with Ford's SYNC 2 technology and 10 speakers. It also gets Integrated Active Noise Cancellation.

There are 6 colours to choose from - Sunset Red, Golden Bronze, Moondust Silver, Panther Black, Diamond White and Smoke Grey. All variants come with 18-inch alloy wheels that are shod with 265/60 section tyres.

Safety features like disc brakes on all 4 wheels, dual airbags, ABS + EBD, ESP, TC, hill launch assist, emergency assistance and Ford MyKey are standard across all variants. The 2.2-litre Titanium also gets side + curtain airbags and a burglar alarm. The 3.2-litre Titanium is equipped with a driver knee airbag too.

Ex-showroom Mumbai prices for the Endeavour are:
2.2L
Trend 4x2 MT - Rs. 24,75,094

Titanium 4x2 AT - Rs. 27,36,344

3.2L
Trend 4x4 AT - Rs. 27,78,142
Titanium 4x4 AT - Rs. 29,46,388

Agree, and in this battle, customers are the winners as they get a good quality interior plus engine plus looks for a better price.

Well I guess they didn't want any hiding behind the bush tactics, and announced as and when it is. No-one can buy without octroi in munbai, i don't see any reason not mentioning that and announcing it.

I guess, the prime reason behind mentioning Ex-Mumbai prices is ban of sale of diesel cars above 2000cc in Delhi till March 2016. Most of the new cars are launched at prices Ex-Delhi but since new Endeavour won't be sold on Delhi, they mentioned prices of Ex-Mumbai which is the second biggest city of the country.

That's easy! Just close your eyes, and imagine a XUV5OO in your porch. Now repeat the same with the Endeavour ! I know what I would be choosing if I could afford both

Exactly, the squished prices make the 3.2 look much more tempting - something that Suzuki should have done with the S-Cross initially !

I am actually wondering why ex-Mumbai, against the usual standard of ex-Delhi in the first place.

Any idea about the ARAI figures of the Fortuner? that should throw some light on the actual efficiency of the Endeavour's engines.

Because Ford can't sell Endeavour in Delhi due to ongoing ban on diesel vehicles with engine capacity > 2,000 cc
