Re: Review: Hyundai Creta (1st-gen)

I own a 2015 Creta SX(O) Diesel (first lot) and my Entertainment unit conked off 2 yrs ago, the screen just went kaput. Replaced it with a Blaupunkt Key Largo 970 unit with 2 yrs warranty and it fits very snugly into the same slot with a support bracket. Doesn't look out of place either and has loads of functionality. Happy with the purchase/upgrade and the user experience. lemme know if you need any additional info.

The 'curve ahead' option can be turned off too. Click the 'Nav' button and on the screen you will find an icon named 'settings' - click on it. On the next screen, under tab 'route guidance' you will find an option titled, 'notify about curves ahead.' Remove the tick mark from this option.

If you couldn't follow this instruction, let me know, I can explain with some screenshots.
Bumping up the old post.
I am facing issue of not able to disable the 'curve ahead' sound notification. I tried it multiple time to disable but everytime I stop car and start again it is again reset back to enabled.

This is really annoying especially if you are driving on twisty roads.

Appreciate if anyone can help here.

My car is Creta 2017 Diesel SX(O) AUTO

You can go to settings in navigation and reduce the volume. I think if you mute it, it will turn back on when you restart the car. Try both.

Re: Review: Hyundai Creta (1st-gen)

Anyone here has a remedy for paint peeling off from my hood? My Creta is 6 years young Diesel Auto SX+ and is a good car to me all these years since I got it pre worshipped in 2020. I use it in mumbai and it was a coin sized peel a month ago and the open parking in Mumbai rains seems to be the main issue here. Any solutions will be much appreciated.

Re: Review: Hyundai Creta (1st-gen)

Hi All,

My 2017 Creta's head unit (HU) has just stopped working and today I took it to a Hyundai service centre and they are saying the HU has died and needs to be replaced. I have been suggested to get a Blaupunkt HU with a cost of approx 35k as the authorised option.

Anyone here who has faced this issue and changed the HU? I saw an old post from 2019 about a Sony HU upgrade, but nothing post that.

My initial shortlist for the replacement looked like this........... Now after all this, and a lot of deliberation, Creta was a compelling option............. Given that I was going to have some of those installed on SX+, the cost was coming to a point where I thought SX(O) was worth it. So the final choice was the SX(O).

Someday, I'll get a Mahindra. May be a Thar, but I don't know. For now, I'll enjoy the Creta, fits my needs well.

Thanks everyone for the inputs on the forum and off it.

A little (non-technical) ownership review of my Creta SX(O) Diesel MT 1.6. Manufacturing date of Dec 2015, delivered to me in Feb 2016. The car completed 1 lakh kilometers in Feb 2024, after exactly 8 years. While 1 lakh doesn't sound an enormous number for 8 years, we had our second child during the course of the ownership of the creta and also the 2.5 year covid period where the car rarely left the parking and finally in the last year and half, the creta has had to share it's space in our lives with the Mahindra thar, which has done 21000 kms itself over the 1.5 years. Given all this, I would say that it did a good 20-22000 kms each "normal" year.
  • No accidents, but two minor incidents where it had to visit the body shop and a third where a minor ding on the boot door ( which still remains uncorrected ).
  • Servicewise, Trident Hyundai Mahadevapura has been excellent. The inputs over the years have been very specific and accurate. Other than the clutch assy replacement at 90k ( also due to my own proactive effort as opposed to a problem ) and a recent brake disc replacement, no major replacements. About 30% of it's total odo is my office commute. In the notorious Whitefield-ORR traffic, never have I regretted having a manual transmission car.
  • FE has been consistently in the 15-17 range on highways, 12-13 on pure nasty ORR traffic and 14-15 in mixed mode. Doing a Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore on a single tank, with enough left for a week's commute to work after the trip is pretty normal.
  • Power/pickup continues to be as good as when it was new. After all these years, it still packs a punch, just like it did as a new car in 2016. Nobody tries to mess up cutting across etc as the car is able to close gaps in start-stop traffic without any inertia. It's the old 1582 cc (1.6), which no longer is available on a Creta. Drives on the highway are a bliss. While not sedan-like in it's fetish for corners, it still does way better than, say, my Mahindra thar (obviously!)
  • The gear shifts still happen with a delicious click though slotting reverse, sometimes, is not as pleasant an experience. This has been there since start and every advisor has said that it's normal for all Cretas.
  • The interiors are impeccable and durable. No coming off of the faux leather covers etc. After a car wash, it's not uncommon for family/friends/aquaintances that don't see the car often to ask if it's a new car/congratulating me on a great car
  • The good GC keeps the vehicle in good stead. I have thrown everything at it - city roads, bad rural roads, highways and it's taken everything well. I don't remember scraping the bottom even once, even when fully loaded and on the worst of roads.

The comfort levels for passengers, the fatigue-less driving experience even on really long drives ( we do a lot of blr-chennai-blr same day return trip that mixes highways and city traffic ), the no-nonsense setup ( never have I had to call an RSA ), excellent service network, good peppy performant innards, lower NVH all have made it an excellent workhorse in the last 8 years. It's time to perhaps replace it, mostly because I want to experience newer cars, the itch to buy a new car ( more on that on a different post in a few days ). But the creta itself is showing no signs of ageing, still going very strong. It's been a stellar choice and I would take a moment to thank @condor and @ampere for the sensible inputs in 2016. The sales numbers of the Creta speaks for itself over the years. For those familiar with the book "The wisdom of crowds", the Creta's sales should be no surprise. And finally, the interesting thing is that in the 2016 post, I said that I fancy a thar and that post has aged well, I have a Thar too in the garage today . Signing off with some pictures of the car from over the years

Re: Review: Hyundai Creta (1st-gen)

I own Creta 2018 SX petrol AT (facelift) which was the only petrol automatic available in the then lineup.

I have a question- does it come with ESP /ESC?

My understanding is it does not- as I had seen the brochure back then but recently read is some forums that it does.

Thanks for the clarity.

Re: Review: Hyundai Creta (1st-gen)

I have a 2017 model creta petrol 1.6L. Presently I am facing the following problems.
1. Back cam not working
2. White back light (reverse) not working
3. Right back ( driver) red light not working
4. Centre back red light not working
5. Rear wiper not working

In my opinion, it seems to be a interconnected one. What can be the probable issue?

I can confirm that the reverse camera and the electronic boot release button are linked. When I had given the AVN for repair, they disconnected the reverse camera which in turn automatically disabled the boot release. In short, the boot could not be opened. Once the reverse camera was reconnected, it was back to normal.

Don't ask me the reason because I just a reply from them saying - It's all linked .

But you seem to have a lot of issues which I doubt that all are connected. I had replaced the 3rd brake light set since 1 LED wasn't working. In that case, everything else worked fine.

Re: Review: Hyundai Creta (1st-gen)

As per previous posts, I own a 2015 Dec manufactured Creta (Diesel SXO MT). Still going very strong, feels like a new car. Removed the small dent that was there on the boot.

The windshield had a lot of circular scratches, thanks to my cleaner ( plus it's been 8.5 years of ownership ). Also, there was a little bit of some 'oily coating' on the windshield that made visibility very poor at night and especially when it rained. Given the heavy monsoons, I tried doing a DIY Ceric Oxide polish to restore the glass. Despite a couple of attempts, I saw no improvement. @SoumoBakshi advised to do it with a machine, which I didn't have and took it to a detailing shop near my home. Their attempt didn't improve the situation much and ended up changing the windshield at the ASC. Great, "HD" view now. I'm glad that I got it done.

Next, I need to change the headlamps. From when I bought it 8.5 years ago to now, it feels the lamp has dulled ( never been replaced ). I do not know if it's the lamp or the glass, but it's gotten to a point that I took my Thar for our recent family vacation as I was not confident with the throw and brightness of the Creta's lamps. I have checked with the ASC multiple times and they just say 'its all fine' - but the person driving, me, would know better. TBH, I'm not even sure if the brightness issue is more a perception having seen brighter headlights in the recent times.

All said and done, for my peace of mind and safety, I have decided to upgrade just the lamps ( not the entire projector setup ). What is a good upgrade from the stock lamps ? I need warm lights, around 3000 Kelvin temperature and preferably without additional relay etc ( though I'm ok worstcase to have the relay ).

1) How do I ascertain if it's the lamp or something else?
2) What are my options for the lamp upgrade?

If the headlights are discoloured, get the headlight restored from any reputed detailing shop.

As for the lamps, stick to 4300k and get branded HIDs.
