Which makes sense I suppose. If I am burning fuel by idling, it should get counted.

My average speed is a pathetic 16 kmph!

Wow, that's a great differential! I got the PPF done for our Creta at 3M. Really expensive, though I managed to get some discount. Our present cars and the previous one have been maintained regularly by 3M ( the one in UB City as I work there) and that helped in the bargain. But, no where close to what you indicated.

I dont know if it helps but I put the vehicle in Neutral during long signals and waits. I think the fuel consumption is a little lesser than in the Drive mode.

OT: I did get a chance to drive a rental Nissan Rogue (Not sure whether its AWD) around the Colorado Rocky Mountains. With 4 people that CVT droned all along. Everyone hated travelling in it But yeah this car along with the Jeep and Cruze seem to be a rental favorite.

May be the Ford Escape might be comparable to your Creta

Hi BNM,
Thanks for all the information you have shared. It was very useful.
I got delivery of my RED SX CRDI this week.

Sorry to read that you travel daily from hebbal to ITPL.
Good decision that you chose AT variant.
Well, I drive daily in opposite direction (Prestige shantiniketan to Manyata Tech park)

Please let me know from which 3M car care did you get the roof wrap done?
I am also planning to get it done.
There is a new 3M car care opened near Hopefarm signal.

Also , the number plates that you have looks good.
Were they purchased from Outside? If yes, how much did you spend on it?

I got my number plate today from Trident and they were looking cheap.
I plan to buy a new one .

Got my second fill up done and the FE in city for my commute is steady at 10.3 kmpl. I am taking it out for a highway drive next week after first servicing and will check the difference.

I got the wrap done on New BEL Road by Xpert Car Care (34/9 next to Axis bank). This guy used to work in 3M and started his own outfit with 3M and other products too. Roof wrap is 3M brand. I also got the PPF done for my bumpers but not the 3M brand at 250 Rs /sqft whereas it is Rs 550 at 3M. Be sure to bargain. Wrap should be around 6K.

Number plates were done in Shivajinagar. It is difficult to give directions there. But there are so many shops in Bangalore where you can get it done. Will cost you around 500 Rs.

I had HID installed in my Swift. I was advised to avoid quick switchbacks between high beam & low beam citing a lower life to the bulbs. Same with flash function. Not sure of the validity of these claims, please do have a check.

Any idea how much would the bulbs cost you & whether you have to buy it only in pairs? I tried a Philips dealer & he told me that he sells only in pairs & cost 2300/- a piece. This was in 2010 I believe.

Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report

Hey stock tyres are 205/65/16. Any reason why you didn't go for 225/55/17.? You wouldn't have lost any mm on ground clearance. I'm thinking of goin for it. What do you think

Anyways i went ahead a did it!!
Managed to get her Oem diamond cut 17 inch alloys and michelin p3st 225/55/17 tyres. Set me back half a lakh after exchanging the original ones.

Wow ! looks great. Sorry I couldn't answer your question since I was out of the country.
Personally
1. I didn't want to move away from 215 since it was the max. OEM size.
2. Cost of course. 225 cost a lot more than 215
3. Mileage. Every mm extra will bring down the mileage
4. Lastly, I have kept the 16 inch OEM spare intact. As per my calculations the 215/55 were nearest to the 205 OEM. Didn't want to invest in another alloy and tire ! Worst case I could use the Spare as is for short distances.

Hey BNM, Hope you are enjoying crunching miles on your new acquisition

Would be a lot of help to get your response on a couple of questions:

1) Which features do you find sorely missing in the car (example - Speed sensing auto door locks) post your usage now?

2) What is the current mileage and what was the first (free) service cost?

1. Feature wise I miss the following

a. Steering reach adjustment
b. Electronic Stability control
c. Rain sensing/auto speed wipers
d. Slidable arm rest
e. Speed sensing auto door lock.
f. MID from the top end version
g. Electrochromatic rear view mirror
h. Lighting for the switch controls (window and mirror)
i. Lack of Smart key sensor on passenger side

Actually this a lot of nitpicking. Some of the rental cars I drove in the US (including Sonata) missed so many features that the Creta comes with as standard. But if Hyundai includes all these along with a Sun roof and electrically adjustable seats, they will have be left with very little competition.

2. I could do just 1500 kms and was away for a month. From the 2 full tanks, I got 12.5 and 13 Kms respectively. This is completely within the Bangalore city with moderate to heavy traffic (average speed was 20 to 22km).

Got the first service done at 1550 kms. They did all the routine checks and did an engine oil top up. Free wash and some small scratch removals.
Total cost = 0

I am planning a 500km trip this weekend. Will update the mileage when I get back.

Yup! I realised for the 6.5j 17 inch creta alloys 215s were the max size. So swapped back the to the sx(o) spec tyres . Bridgestone 215/60/17. By the way there was an alignment issue after getting the tyres and alloys swapped. Had to go to the Hyundai service centre to get this sorted. They confirmed that for this vehicle alignment cannot be done outside because of some particular software that only they have. You had the same issue?
