Re: Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report

Congratulations!

As I was going through your thread today morning and during the lunch time, saw the car, Do you work in ITPL?

Alloys look good and gel very well with the colour of your car.

Happy miles crunching.....

Cheers!

You are right. It is Unlimited Kms.
Also I checked with my SA regarding the 4th and 5th year warranty - Right now they are accepting the 4th year warranty for the MT at 16K. According to him this can be renewed for the AT also and can be done towards the end of the 3rd year. It may be 1K more at that time.

Would like to know how the AT fares in terms of fuel efficiency in bumper to bumper traffic over a period of 6 months. Please keep this thread alive.

.
Thank You. I have done about 500 Kms and the gauge looks a 1/3rd full. I don't trust it a lot from my previous experience. Will post the first tank mileage in a day or two.

Some time ago, I vaguely remember someone on the forum being told this for a Ford (I think) car. But this policy was discontinued by the time he reached the two year mark so he could not purchase the extended warranty.

Plus please check if they will still offer you extended warranty if, god forbid, there is an accident and there is a significant amount of repair involved.

I suggest you buy it asap, if you intend to. Else at least get everything in writing.

Thanks for the update. Can you share the performance of the osram hids? Also, it would be great if you post some pictures of the low, high beam and cut off. Also, how was the installation? There seems to be some a small drilling that's required on the dust cover to run the wires. Can you share some pictures of that as well and how was the entire installation (the drilling part is what am concerned of). Sorry for too many questions. I need to install this next month.

Sure. I will post the pictures. Need to take them tonight.
Installation took about 60 minutes. Have to remove the front bumper which is held together with 2 buttons and 4 screws and 4 bolts after which it is all lock mechanism which has to be released. The headlamps are also easy to dismantle which are held together by 2 bolts each.

Each ballast roughly measures 3"x3"x1". There are 2 nice empty flat areas next to the battery on the left and the the wiper liquid sump on the right (as if it was custom made for this). There are 4 pre drilled holes in that place already (don't know why). My electrician stuck the ballasts to the surface with 3M stickers and then secured with Zip ties using the pre-existing holes. Very Ingenious guy. (the ones they use for locking our luggages in the airport). I will take some pictures and post it. No drilling done absolutely !

Are you sure on this? Because I had checked the headlights and all wires run inside the headlight assembly and a main power chord supplies power (similar to ecosport).

Something like this:

Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report-velowbeaminstall03.jpg

The dust cover is just like a can lid which is screwed in place

Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report-31llfy8pel._sy300_.jpg

Open this to access the bulbs. You can notice the wiring inside the assembly. But since HIDs have wires running from the bulb to the ballast, you will need to drill a small hole on this dust cover (I did this for the ecosport)

The end result will be something like this.

Can you check this and let me know if it's something similar or am I missing something? Would be great if you could share the pictures. Anyways, you got it done and looks . Waiting for more pictures.

Naveen, You are right I mistook your question for the Ballast installation. There is a small hole drilled in the dust cover to let the wires go through. It has been sealed though with Sealing sticker. Sorry about the confusion.

Re: Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report

First Mileage Report

Measured using Top up to Top up method.
Trip meter @534 kms.
It took 43 Litres to top up.
Mileage 12.41 kms/Ltr.

Not bad considering

1. My first stint as an AT driver.

2. Wasted a lot of fuel on the day of mods. Kept running in idle for a long time atleast 2 to 3 lts must have gone in that.

3. 75% was in peak Bangalore traffic.

I expect 13.5 to 14 Kms to be realistic from now on.

Was the airbag disconnected for installation?

Can you also share some pictures of the low beam cut off lines?

Re: Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report

What about Flash.
Are you able to use flash with the HID's like normal bulbs, When I had inquired about HID for my Polo, the electrician had said that we will connect fog lamps in parallel to the high beam, and only fogs will light up when flash is used instead of high beam.

Re: Hyundai Creta SX+ Automatic - Initial Ownership Report

HID
I chose a street without any street lighting and took pictures. I am not an expert at this! Please let me know if these are okay or I need to do something else.
The parked car seen in the picture was around 20 to 25 metres away for reference.

Regarding Flash: Flash works normally like the normal halogen lamps but it is not as bright considering that it take a few seconds for the HID bulbs to warm up !

Overall the difference between this OSRAM HID and the OSRAM Halogen lamps I was using in my Verna is too much. This is like a flood lit stadium !

Cut off:

Only Fog Lamps and LED's:

Low Beam (No Fog lights):
