After valuable inputs from Pearljam & drive2eternity who own & drive the Verna, you won't go wrong in your decision to buy this vehicle.
Secondly, with all the talk of a new launch here & there, is all part of the market dynamics & will keep happening in the current competitive context.

Verna has been offering good discounts for the whole of last year that i also availed & the story also wouldn't be any different now.

You go & visit the showroom & bargain hard on the Verna, Hyundai should be able to offer you decent discount. Do not worry about the pre/post budget price.

Correct !! I was honestly expecting the Vento would win but was pleasantly surprised. For all the talk about the Turbo TSi, the great handling, superb steering, marvelous chassis, brilliant DSG auto-box, nothing translated to real world on a track.

But the shock for me was the Ciaz putting its nose ahead and taking the 2nd position. With the world famous i-Vtec and VW TSi left smoking behind, I can only assume that Maruti have got the gearing and light weight combo absolutely right, which allows even the smallest engine of the lot, and the least powerful one too, to come 2nd.

In the end, Verna triumphed !

Hyundai is developing a new app, called MyHyundai. The app has a bunch of ancillary functions like access to Hyundai's roadside assistance and service appointment scheduling, a monthly vehicle report to call out any service issues, and the setting of Valet Alert, which notifies you on your phone if a valet takes your car outside a predefined boundary. But at least for now, the app doesn't control key aspects of the car like heating and cooling.

It should be available later this year.

I disappeared for a while and yes there is a reason for that!!

First of all let me thank you all for your valuable inputs/suggestions. I reached out to this thread seeking suggestions for one of my friend who was interested in buying a Verna and I myself had almost finalized on XUV. Last min things turned and reason best know to me I ended up buying a VERNA MY SELF :). Its a SX(O) variant.

Here is the glimpse:

Somehow even after my attempts online, I could not get any good reviews or even photographs of the company fitted AVN system offered by Hyundai. Can someone please update this thread with one?

Also as brought out earlier, the MapMyIndia's and Caska's AVN disable the steering mounted phone controls. What is the scene with the manufacturer fitted one?

I am planning to upgrade my Fluidic Verna with AVN. :)

It is 12 months from date of purchase (11 months after the 1st service).
This is because engine oil should be changed in 12 months and the 1st service does not involve changing of the engine oil.

Having said that, I am not sure if you can just walk into a Hyundai showroom and buy the AVN. In all probability, it is not being sold as an accessory. I visited the Hyundai dealer, and they say Caska is "the" choice for AVN. They said that the very fact that they are providing this unit, means that Hyundai has "approved it". They also said Hyundai doesn't provide the original AVN system in the 2016 models. Forget that, they don't even provide the older 2015 non-AVN system. My emails to Hyundai on this has gone unanswered too.

He says that there is zero wire cutting, and "everything" will work perfectly. The overhead mike will be wasted since the Caska AVN apparently has a mike on the unit itself. Other than that, they say everything else is stock. However, looking at different feedback, including the one from drive2eternity, it's a little difficult to invest 43000/- (yes, that's the cost) for a system that you cannot evaluate before you buy.

Two things -

1) If you are an Audioholic Caska is not a good choice. I have seen lot of Caskas giving trouble in Hondas, again manufacturer recommended. The sound quality is average, maynot be any better than the OEM player that you have.

2) Rs 43000/- is way too expensive. If you are looking at spending that , then have a look at

My point was exactly the same as you brought out. Whether the AVN system provided by Hyundai is available off the shelf as accessory.

Surely, I would have killed all the three birds in one go if I would have been living in some good city. I have only one small dealer here in my city. I'll surely check once I go to nearby city Guwahati. :)

I think PearlJam has already tried sourcing the factory fitted AVN of Verna as an accessory and it was not available.

Regarding my Verna, I recently started experiencing the car pulling slightly to the left. Seems like the Bangalore potholes messed it up. Car has run 9540 kms so far. Got the wheel alignment done yesterday and its sorted out now. Car is due for its 2nd service next month, when the tires will also be rotated. Will get the alignment done again post the rotation.

Dear Verana Owners,
I have been facing a rather peculiar issue on my brand new Verna. While I am usually very cautious driver and don't drive over pot holes, it was pouring cats and dogs last night. I did not notice one of the pot holes on the road untill i was close and ended up going over it. As a reflex action I ended up pressing the clutch and breaks and I could hear a pretty loud ding noise coming from the front suspension. Though it was for a split of a second the noise was audible and the vibrations was felt in the car. Ding noise was exactly same as one would hear when you try compressing a rusted spring and releasing it.

Later that night I tried replicating the same and it happened everytime I slowed over the pot hole with the breaks pressed. The ding noise was not felt if we move over the pot holes rather slowly.

Has anyone experienced this ?

Hello KK28,

I have not faced such an issue. But as you know how to replicate it, the best approach would be to drive to the Hyundai Service Center and show the issue to a Service Adviser.

And don't forget to post the investigation findings here for the benefit of others.
