I paid 4.8k. Earlier I thought of day light view issues because of the bluish tinge. But yesterday I drove Sugesh's GT TSI with the same ORVMS and it was not at all that bad as I thought it would be. There is obviously a colour change. But you will get used to it no time. It never interferes with driveability in broad day lights and does its job really well in the night!

No offence to you Sir but that pricing is pretty steep IMO.

Did you check Gannu_1's thread where he did the same ORVM transplant for $40 which is Rs 2.5K?

Anurag, I know about that. But I need some peace of mind for every purchases especially for my car. I'm not that good in online stores too. At least if something goes wrong I've someone in my home town to catch hold of. I've heard of one more thing. The products that we acquire from abroad through online stores are devoid of customs duty charges and tax. So later after few months or years, the govt will sent you a letter for the payment of the duty charges. I've a friend of mine who had a similar experience. The total amount that he paid for the product including the customs duty was almost equal to the price of the accessories that is sold by vagtune.

Congratulations on the 1 year mark. Mine is just about a year and 3 months old and done about 22000 + KM. Would have done much more had I not been out of station for about 4 months.
Largely Hassle Free ownership, if it weren't for just one engine sensor issue which was replaced. Otherwise, I fully agree and I have never regretted my decision.

Horrible experience with VW SERVICE CALICUT (PHOENIX)

Today i did my 30k service for my polo and it was really a bad one. As usual I called VW Calicut for a prior service appointment 2 weeks back and they gave a slot for 5th November. But due to my inconvenience, i asked for a later date and they gave an appointment for Nov.11. My only demand was that the vehicle should be ready by noon and they were willing for that and according to the less service bookings, they gave this date. Yesterday, they gave a confirmation call too for the service and everything went on fine.

As per their advise I brought the vehicle at 8:45AM. As per the service receptionist's advice I waited and by 9:15 a SA came. When I told about the service, he said its not possible today as ENGINE OIL is not available in the SC. I controlled my anger and told them at any cost the service must be done today itself. I was planned to reach for my work with an hour delay. But because of this I had to take leave. After some time the SA told that he will get it by evening from kannur VW service centre. Later he said its not available there too. Then he said he will accept the car and will arrange the oil. Then I told him to do the service without the oil change and give a written cause for not changing the oil along with the bill for which he was not willing. Then I called the Service manager who was a friend of mine and he promptly called the concerned spare parts guys and told me that the oil will be available by 2PM. I was a bit relieved on hearing this.

The vehicle was seen by the SA after all these dramas at around 10 AM that is after an hour wait. He noted the complaints and said it will be shifted to the floor soon. The vehicle was shifted at 10:45 AM and the service was started at 11:30 AM., after a good 2:45 minutes wait!!! The service guy was very good and he did a nice job. Air filter, fuel filter, AC filter and diagnostic scan was done in 20-30 mts. He even took me a for a test drive following it. By 12:15 PM all the works were done. For washing, there was a long que as usual. I told them not to do it. But even after repeated reminders he washed the vehicle.

Then the wait for engine oil started!!! I'd to wait for close to 5 hours for the engine oil!!! I was shocked to see the engine that they had added was a brand by name ADDINOL. Is this a known brand? I don't have any idea. They topped up close to 4.3 L. Since the can was only 4 L, they added some other brand too. Finally I got the vehicle at 6PM. I am totally fed up with the service!!! I'm here with attaching pics of the engine oil can and the final bill.

Sorry to read about the bad experience you had at vw service. They have used an alternative brand of engine oil. It's of same grade but the quality cannot match brands like castrol or mobil1. The next time you want to get your car serviced get your can of engine oil in advance a 4 ltr. pack and a 1 ltr pack you can use the remaining quantity in the coming services or for top ups. Wishing you happy diwali and prosperous motoring.

This is absolute injustice. You paid a premium price for not so premium product.

You should send this photo to VW as I am sure this in not a RECOMMENDED VW oil. You might get another free oil change to one of the major brands.

Mechanically, this should be fine and last at least 10k KMs if not 15K.

All the best

I'm not trying to justify their service (I'm sick of VAG too), but the oil meets VW specifications. You can see the VW505 approval on the box. As for the .3l of other oil which went in, do complain to VW and don't let them get of easy.

Re: My Glistening Night Blue VW Polo 1.5 TDi Highline

This is really unheard of in todays time, i have read about VW/Skoda workshops going out of stock with oil filters/diesel filters but they ran out of engine oil.

You need to report this to volkswagen, they proudly proclaim that they recommend Castrol oil so putting this Addinol instead of it is not done, it is VW 505 compliant but put in a word to VW so that they know it is their workshop that put this oil in, the dealer may put the blame on you in future. They would not do a free oil change, the service levels are below average to give you a free oil change back to Castrol.

Akshay, i know about the compatibility of the engine oil but VW india promotes only castrol magnatech synthetic oil. Then how can an A.S.S. sell another brand of engine oil?

Even i was shocked when i heard about the unavailability of engine oil. Its one of the basic thing that is needed in a SC. Then what is the need of a service centre. They can better shut it down. I had already sent an e mail to VW customer care. Hope they will promptly take up the matter
