hey ST - congrats on the new beauty - she really looks much better in red than in the silver versions i have seen on the roads.
and treat her with care during the run-in - i know its realllly tough to resist the temptation to hear the vtec growl, but you'll have plenty of time to rip her later.
Congrats St..... Can you post some pics of its dashboard?
Thanks Rtech, Iraghav, Sandeep, Satish, GTO, 2L8, Ajay, Normally crazy, Cool Dude, Goldie, carholic, Angel Eyes, ... phew :)
I heard that Honda engines (and in fact most high end car engines) are pre-run now days, and they can be revved from Day 1. Is this true?
Also it will be good if some one can help me on the dryness issue (created when A/C is switched on).
will post the rear and dashboard views soon ...
ST - Despite what some people claim, no mainstream companies have the resources or the time to pre-run in the engines. Some specialist companies producing small-quantity, niche vehicles might run-in their engine prior to delivering the car but no mass-market companies do it.
As for the throat issue I don't know that's the first time I have heard of such a problem.
Read your manual, best place to check. I remember swift manual saying to be gentle on brakes for about 300/500 km and engine (no harsh/cold revving) for first 1k km.
Secondly, since you have MT, it is very important (as much as not high revving) not to 'lug' the engine, i.e. drive in a higher gear than required. As much as we try to be gentle, then we shift to higher gear, which may not be appropriate. Remain in the lower gear till 2.5-3k rpm. Ideally, 2-3k rpm range seems ideal. No point putting it in 5th at 50-60km/h at say approx. 1.2k rpm.
Nice car man. Go easy on her for the first 1000kms and then let her rip!
Hey ST, congrats on your new purchase, have fun with the Vtec power!!!
Hi ST
I know what the dry mouth syndrome is...sheer excitement! I should know, just got a Galaxy grey AT this morning.
Congrats and enjoy you beauty.
Congratulations Jeeves!
How about some pictures :)
ST
I am technically challenged but let me get a friend involved and then maybe will post a few.
Congrats ST and jeeves!! And a very well written review :)
Read through the manual and it suggests to go east till 1000km.
Keeping the rev below 3-4K and avoid rapid acceleration.
Hard braking to be avoided till 300km.
Congrats on the new car, man.

If you go 1000kms east from B'lore, in all probability, you would end up in the Bay of Bengal. :)
Just kidding, and take it
easy for the 1st 1000kms as the manual says.
ST,
Congrats on the new car & gr8 review.
Drive safe and enjoy the ride...
