I hope the new steering wheel is in the works, waiting to see snaps once the job is done.

Does the newly launched X3 30D M-Sport come with this M-steering wheel ? I know it has got paddles but not sure if the wheels are same.
Thanks buddy, well I just think the car looks cleaner without all the badges.

The new X3 M sport doesn't have this steering, it has the older shape M sport one.

Guys the steering is fitted, and it fits perfectly and looks awesome. Just working on getting the paddles working now, and I shall update with some details and snaps.

So here is a picture of the steering. The paddles should be working tomorrow with one last bit of wiring sorted out.

Hi Akshay

Congrats, the M Sport steering looks great.

Do you know if this will work with a BMW F30 3 Series?

I have seen a few on sale on eBay.de. Where did you source your steering from?

Have you ever considered upgrading to the Adaptive LED headlights found on the new model?

Hi Bharat,

Thanks. The steering change makes the drive feel much more sporty. Just holding that steering wheel changes the way the drive feels

Sourced it from a vendor in the UK.

Hey, honestly I have considered it. But it will not be worth it. Cost will be a few lacs, and changes will include the bumper, hood, etc. BTW the facelift X3 in India comes with xenon and not LEDs.

I see. Yeah, i know it comes with xenons only. I'll be booking mine tomorrow. I so wish it came with LED headlights, though. Especially now that even the cars from a segment below this (B Class, Q3) already have this feature. I'm seriously considering getting it done down the line. Although i have no idea where i could source it.

The upcoming facelift for the F30 gets adaptive LED headlights as an option with Bi-Xenons as standard equipment. So this might be available on the X3 too very soon.

The F30 with the M-Sport trim gets this M-Steering wheel abroad. I hope this makes it to India as well.

30 mins expired before i could edit.

BMW in general is very slow to bring in features into its products compared to its competition. While VAG has already rolled out several products in the market based on MQB platform, BMW is only testing prototypes based on its upcoming CLAR platform that is supposed to shed weight significantly similar to MQB.

Oh if you are booking the facelift then it will be simpler for you to swap. But still a large job. Which X3 are you booking btw?

UPDATE

Did the last bit of wiring, and now the paddles are working. I'm just overjoyed that everything worked out. And the paddles are pretty much instant, and behave just as though they were factory fitted.

Hey akshay,

I'm picking up the X3 20d xLine. the 30d was exceeding my budget by a large margin, and i absolutely HAD to get the X3 and not the 5 series because my dad isn't comfortable with sedans due to his age factor.

WOW, dude! This wheel is a thing of dreams!

It's so sad that they don't have this on even the M Sport variants as standard or even as an option.

Not to boast but this wheel isn't an option on the X3 or X4 anywhere in the world. So I can safely say mine is one of the first.

akshay, do you know if the X3 30d comes with color HUD uint ? For sure it doesn't have 4G.

Looks like the upcoming facelifted 3 gets color HUD, 4G, Navigation !!!
Not sure about the validity of the source since 4G sim is unheard of in Indian versions.

Haha! Wow man! Seriously! Kudos! I'm drooling just looking at that wheel! How tough/expensive was it to rewire the whole thing?

The wheel itself was plug and play. The paddles required some wiring which was missing to activate them. No wires cut or altered, only additional wires added using BMW wires and pins to make them plug and play.
