Thank you so much for the wishes, AkMar.

Also btw, very well written thread, which I am sure would have been the first thing to be appreciated in a normal case, but emotions in this thread over power it hands down.
And to your dad : Happy driving for many years to come, Sir!! |
Thank you so much, isandy. He's been really happy the past couple of months, and I am glad I have given him a reason to smile again.
Sometimes when he's going out in the evening and I want the Swift to run an errand, he simply waves me off. "Take your Empress! The Swift's mine!" comes the pat reply!

Simply brilliant.
This has to be one of best write-ups in team bhp. I missed it all this time, and that is a real pity.
The bond that you share with your dad is clearly evident and your dad is indeed lucky to have a son like you.
Wish your dad many happy years of motoring.
I too test drove the Xcent 1.2 sx(o) and I share your dad's view as well. I too have a Swift a Dzire diesel thou, and a Ritz diesel. The Swift Diesel still brings a smile on my face everytime I drive, even after 5 years. |
Thank you, ortho_surgeon.
Yes, the Grand i10/XCent appeal to the mind. But when it comes to the Marutis, you can always follow your heart. There is something about the engineering, all faults notwithstanding. As rightly said by Anurag earlier, India does come home in a Maruti-Suzuki!

I am to looking at installing the RPAS on my Swift. Will be hooked here for feedback and long-term reliability.
Thanks buddy for the update. |
The cooling effectiveness has definitely increased. The past 4-5 days have been really hot but the ACC has brought the cabin temperature down to 25ºC (our preferred temperature setting) in no time. We still don't have any sunfilm or sun shade for any of our cars, and I must admit that the Climate Control system is a real boon. Unlike normal AC systems, it doesn't chill the face, fingers and the bones and keeps the cabin cool enough.
And yes, the RPAS system is very helpful, specially for ageing drivers like Dad. He can reverse a bit more freely now, aided by the sensors and the camera. I am glad it's helping him.

However, as an aftermarket accessory, it is way better than the add-on display type reverse camera systems available in the market. Here's what happened to my uncle's Swift DZire with such a system fitted - the mount is barely able to hold on to the weight and might give up soon. |
The ZXI/ZDI might have the same system (will get clarification tomorrow).
Yikes! Thanks for posting that, my friend. I was thinking of getting a Xenos display similar to the one you posted and swap it with the MGA one (for a clearer screen, Bluetooth, etc.), but now I am having second thoughts.
---------------------------------------------------
Silver Queen crossed the 1,000-km mark earlier today. She came into our life on 6th August, so that makes it 2 months on the dot. Dad is supremely happy with his car, and I am glad I could make a difference, however small, in his life for him. Let it continue for as long as it can!
Got a set of body-colored door protectors for Silver Queen a few days back, to prevent the door edges from getting scratched. Cost me Rs. 300/-.
Only gripe I have whenever I am driving her - the OEM tyres, the MRF ZVTVs, have really wide grooves. Small pebbles get stuck inside them everytime we do a journey. It's getting annoying to pull them out after every completed trip. If I don't do it, the
tak-tak sound from the tyres and the slight, uneven rides (on slow speeds) irritates to no end.
Give something else, Maruti-Suzuki! Even the Apollos on our Ritz were much better in this respect!
