re: 2013 Flash Red VW Polo 1.6 GT TDI Ownership Report EDIT: Sold!

Been really really busy with work in the last 70 days due to hectic work. Sorry for not posting or replying Kanasu. Will search for it and let you know in the weekend for sure.

Update: my car is up for its 1 st year service . Have booked an appointment earlier today for tomorrow at VW Rajajinagar Bangalore.

Here is the list of things that will be omitted from the service list.(thanks to gannu_1)

1. washing and interior vacuuming ( will get a nice wash from 3M instead of that)

2. brake cleaning ( it is completely useless I heard)[have to check again with VW poeople as to what exactly is that]

Wheel balancing and alignment was always done in Madhu's (langford road ). Unfortunately, they only recommended me that next time the car goes for service please get it done at authorized service center so they can adjust the rear camber.

I will try to ask for mobil1 oil for engine oil if that option is given to me.
Apart from this,if there is anything else to add or to be aware of please PM me or post here before 8 am tomorrow so that I can add it to the list.

Will post updates in the weekend. Some small but important parts have also arrived. Decisions have been made about the path taken for upgrade.
Cheers.

Regards,
Suraj

re: 2013 Flash Red VW Polo 1.6 GT TDI Ownership Report EDIT: Sold!

Update: Car is back from service. All in all it came up to 11,467 rupees without wash of the vehicle.

Foam wash+wax was done at 3M after just seeing the cloth and how they wash cars in VW Rajajinagar.

I strongly suggest people not to waste money by washing the vehicle along with free swirl marks as a gift.

I had to get the Balancing done at VW since I was advised by madhus enterprises (langofrd road). Anyways this does not matter so much since every 5K kms or 6 months my cars will visit for madhus for alignment and balancing.

For all you guys ,the total charge for alignment and balancing was 1500 rupees which is exorbitant for a hatchback. Thats what I feel.

This time I was not lucky at VW Rajajinagar. Please avoidMr.Darshan at all costs. He was extremely arrogant with me. Apart from taking prior appointment and dad reminding him twice before handing over the car, he kept the car for 2 days for routine service. When he informed me it was 6 30 in the evening. When I said that I will inform his higher ups , the answer I got from him was do whatever you want I don't care, it does not matter to me at all.

NOTE: Please never ever make the mistake of giving the car for service on Friday,Saturday and Monday. All these days they are overloaded but do not tell out so.

Also some goodies I got from Ultimate Detailerz Bangalore.
1.PERL protector for interior trims.
2. Scholls W6 Crystal Wax.
3. Ultima Shampoo.

Previously I used to use Sonus shampoo and highly recommend it to everyone the results were amazing even though it was expensive.

Two bottles of Sonus shampoo lasted 3 months for 3 cars and two bikes which was washed once in 3 days.

So for one car it will last 5 months easily. This product gets 5 stars from me.
lets see how ultima shampoo lasts.

As for me I have used Amway shampoo,Sonax shampoo( normal and gloss version both),meguiar shampoo.
Sonus shampoo was way better than these products.

Will keep you updated. As for now no pictures.

Regards,
Suraj

re: 2013 Flash Red VW Polo 1.6 GT TDI Ownership Report EDIT: Sold!

By the way what did you do? Did you actually report against him?
Maybe it was just a bluff. A similar incident happened to a bhpian while he was booking a honda city. The sales guy was arrogant and said something along the same line. He was reported to his higher ups and to Honda itself. He was forced to apologize before the customer.
But then again this being VW and all, there might be no use pursuing this matter with the higher ups.
Even if it is a small matter such arrogant attitude is really disgusting. They should at least have the courtesy to be polite to the customer.

You should definitely report the matter to the higher ups.
I had a similar booking experience with VW and instead of reaching higher ups at the dealership for response, sent my grievance via e mail to the customer care.
That got the ball rolling, and one of the reasons that made me not cancel my booking.

I informed to the manager Mr.Ali who was extremely apologetic about that.
I have no qualms about the work done but they did not do it on time. They just need some lessons and interactive training sessions from people at Toyota and Maruti. Mr. Darshan actually came from Toyota after working for 2 years but still has not learnt a thing or two. Very sad!

I always used to choose my SA as Mr. Naresh( he now works for Audi Bengaluru) or Mr.JaiPrakash (JP) .Both are extremely knowledgeable and listen to you very patiently . They get the work done and are very realistic. If they cannot deliver in a day, they inform beforehand even before making the job card. Small things go a long way.

Fighting/Arguing with A.S.S is more troublesome for you than them in the long run and is uncalled for.
Will keep you guys posted.
Cheers.

re: 2013 Flash Red VW Polo 1.6 GT TDI Ownership Report EDIT: Sold!

Ok, Sorry for not Updating my report for quite sometime now.

I had been out of Bangalore for more than 6 months in 2014 and I could not use the GT TDi fully.

10000 kms came up on the ODO today so It just flashed to my mind that I should do some update.

Also, my car visited Ultimate Detailerz over the weekend.
I got a special deal from Mohsin( Big Thanks to him) and the work is beyond what I expected. I will do the pictures talking.
My car doing trips to Coimbatore, washed in hard water, parked 24 hours to the mercy of weather god and the finish had taken quite a beating.

I got the complete car nicely checked and then that huge 8 Step Procedure was done to the Car.

The Cquartz is the best in protecting and the shine is still there. I have not even washed the car from the past 3 days and have driven 400 kms and parked in the sun for more than 7 hours every day.
Just a wipe in Jopasu Duster everyday while I leave the engine to warm up first thing in the morning.

I think all the Team Bhp Bangalore members should have a visit to ultimate detailerz.

It is way way ahead from the leagues for 3M and I had been a fan of 3M work. But after this, for protecting exterior it is ultimate detailerz.

The car has been without any niggles and had also gone for a Wheel Balancing and Alignment at the end of last month at Madhu's( Langford road)
* touch wood* ALL IS WELL.
Pictures.
all are unedited except the simple removal of number
plates.

Some were taken in a point and shoot camera( with dates on the bottom right corner) and some on my one plus one( has a horrible camera BTW!)

Vagtune is coming up with a branch in Bangalore and I am so glad that they did.Good times Ahead!

re: 2013 Flash Red VW Polo 1.6 GT TDI Ownership Report EDIT: Sold!

It has been more than 9 months that I have updated the thread sorry for that.So i thought I will update it today. The car has completed 18000 kms last week. The car had gone to its yearly service last month and everything is fine. The car has periodically visited Madhu's for Road Force Wheel Balancing and Alignment every 5000 kms.
The car also visited Ultimate detailerz for the Cquartz Protection Treatment. Will post pictures with before and after the treatment as soon as find them.
Issue faced:
I faced the same issue as Vikram(Vik0278) last month. It was a Monday October 12th 2015. My instrument cluster popped up an error. .I am re-posting the pictures posted in vikram's thread for reference).I was very dissapointed seeing the error.Immediately informed my office people for a day off. Called up VW Palace Cross Sales Head(Mr.Kiran Kumar) and to Deputy Service Manager at Rajajinagar service center(Mr. Raghul). Both were very professional and promised me to sort out the issue. They instructed me to drive slowly and not drive the car like I usually do. After 45 minutes to travel 5 kms and a lot of angry honks from people behind me I reached the service center. Mr. Mahesh who was assigned to me immediately came to check the car out.He opened the bonnet to check the cable on the right hand side(attached picture). The connector and the wire were chewed thanks to a rat. In an hour, the connector and the wire was replaced with a total damage of Rs. 1500. Turned on the ignition no errors.Phew!. All sort of worries were gone and the car was back to normalcy providing bundles of torque.

My garage went through a lot of changes in the last 7 months. Two diesel cars went out(Xuv 500,Swift) and one petrol car came in.I am also due for a ownership report.I wanted to follow our DIY Guru Ganesh(gannu_1) since we took delivery of our cars in the same month but had to postpone due to the changes in my garage. Anyways, seeing so many enthusiasts(robimahanta,frankmehta,gannu_1,prithwi-81 to name a few) the mod bug has bit both my dad and me many times. Very soon, will start the modifications on both of my cars stage by stage.
Wish you all a lot of trouble-free,happy and safe miles ahead!
Take care all of you.
Cheers.

Woah Suraj you had the same symbols pop up and this was resolved by replacing a wire from the engine bay??

The ordeal lasted like 3 weeks for me and my GT was grounded all along

Nevertheless, really glad that issue on your GT was sorted out in a jiffy and back on road to unleash those German thoroughbreds !!

Yes Vikram a big sigh of relief when the car came back in an hour without telling me that there is a big replacement to be done. So all is well.
In touch with many BHPians and most of their threads. Time to empty the wallet and get the goodies. It is high time now. Knowing you , I don't believe how you are managing to hold your urge to start adding stuff to the car. Pre-facelifted cars are very low on equipment compared to newer ones but we have got slightly better door panels and a fantastic engine. Preparing a big list actually but will go stage by stage. Planning to pick up the most scarce ones among them and go slowly on things which are readily available.

That my friend, is the ONLY reason/justification I have for staying dormant on the modification front on my GT

But I am slowly and surely browsing some add-ons of late. It has been nearly 2 years of 'Stock GT' and I am drifting towards the beautification thought now

Looking forward to your thread Suraj on the stuffs coming up.

Nothing out of the box Vikram. I have already got ready guides/reviews/opinions of all the modifications which can be done on polo. Thanks to the recent rage of Polos in the Team-Bhp forum and their modifications.

Pictures as Promised.
Review is there in the Ultimate Detailerz Thread.

re: 2013 Flash Red VW Polo 1.6 GT TDI Ownership Report EDIT: Sold!

Please note: The updated map and other details are for 1.6 GT TDi only.
I had take an appointment for the car 3 days before to visit the Service center at VW Palace Cross Rajajinagar. The car visited the service center on Saturday for the latest revision map(Version:9972) since it was not updated in the last service as I wanted the car on time .Hopefully, this will be the last map for 1.6 GT-TDI before fully de-tuned map along with a flow restrictor comes to conform with BS4 Norms.
I also took it as an opportunity to do a full check along with a running smoothness control test.

A Test is there where the VAS checks for engine dependent parameters like injectors and everything else which are concerned to optimum running of the engine. If there are any errors then it mentions for the replacement of the said part. This will be the same test where Vikram's Car would have thrown up an EGR and its related errors.
The test took a good 30-45 minutes. It depends on the car and its map revision. Since mine was a old version, after all the checks, the new revision map was flashed. Was very relieved that everything had a green tick and everything finished smoothly
After the test, Running Smoothness control test was done on the car to check for any deviations in the spraying of injectors and the fine tune is done to the same. There is an improvement in the idling which is clearly noted in the cold start in my car at-least.

All these were done before the mods are started.

After a lot of time spent on researching parts, choosing want all is required along with addressing the weak points of the Polo, I have concluded to the list below.

Now have to make time and start finding stuff for the "OTHER" car, else my dad will be like . You are only doing up your car what about mine then?

As of now, the mods which are on the way now:

1. Highline BCM ( Same model as our DIY Guru Gannu_1).
2. A Rare and elusive MFD Cluster.(Special thanks to Sugesh Vagtune).
3. RCD 510 Bosch RVC Edition.
4. 3D Kagu Mats.
5. Clone VCDS cable 12.12 Version (A gamble which I thought is definitely worth)

Mods planned in the near future(will be completed in another 3 months) as per the flow of salary into my account.

a.9ZZ bluetooth or a premiuim bluetooth +MDI kit.
b.16" inch rims along with good 205 or195 Section tyres.
c.Tarox Rotors for the front along with VW Germany Brake Pads.(courtesy:shibin).
d.Shark Fin antenna.

Maybe sometime later after the planned ones are done.
1. Mk7 Steering wheel.
2. Cruise control For electronic city , airport flyover runs. If only the cops paid more attention to screwing up people at BBMP/GOK for the so called roads in Bangalore than checking which car is doing 81 kmph!!
3. Folding mirrors with heating and auto dimm function.
4. Headlight upgrade(stock headlights are useless above 50 kmph on highway especially low beam). Right now I avoid driving on highways at night with this car or if it is necessary take an alternate car.

Threads for reference:

Great lineup there Suraj and looking forward to all these going on your GT buddy

I just wanted to know what was the reason for VW A.S.S to flash the map? I mean, is this something that is done as a part of service or does it have things to do with the Emission scandal corrective measure?

Also, did VW service personal inform you that post the corrective maps, the performance will be hampered on the 1.6 TDI engine? I will never see a VW service centre again in my life if this is a "De-tuned" map

Thanks hope everything comes together nicely so that I can enjoy more behind the wheel.

This update actually came out in end of October and by no way the performance has reduced. They will not tell any things like these but I insisted them since they had not done it in the routine service.

As far as update is concerned, it is going to affect the nature of power delivery of engine which is the one thing the 1.6 Tdi engine worth for.
The flow transformer is going to restrict the air flow. Since the air flowing is restricted, lesser fuel is required to maintain the optimal mixture of air and fuel.Since the displacement of the engine is also same they will do changes in ECU to give more time for the mixture to burn completely thereby reducing the emissions. We didn't get interior lights, dual barrel headlamps, better Mid-line cluster, all black interiors but we got a fantastic build quality and a gem of a engine.

The VW people are posting that it wont affect handling and other things. They are talking as if they are honest people.I don't care if their R&D head or ECU Supplier Bosch or the super brilliant mind who came up with this idea is at fault .When you gave me a Production Test Drive Car, it means that it has been approved for road worthiness by all means and a car with the exact same specifications will be given to me albeit with aesthetic changes. Just because the company is screwed for cheating, It does not mean it is the turn of customers to be cheated or to suffer because of your(VW) mistake. A simple solution, since your diesel high line was priced around 8L in 2013 at that time, please refund 1.5L back to each owner since the customers are losing a tangible part of the car, making false promises, duping the end user. .

It does not matter to 90% of the people since as most of them are concerned about "kitna Deti hai". Although, for a very few people who see beyond that and who really drive the car like its meant to be driven, they are getting robbed of it by VW even after paying a million rupees which is completely unacceptable according to me no offense to anyone. This is just my opinion and I am not going to stop anyone from performing the update. I might as well recommend it to most of them since VW may play with the warranty of the car.

My service for this year is done. As far as I know,I don't have to visit them till next October. By that time, lot of people will have these things done in their cars and we will know the exact outcomes.

By the way, vikram how did you think that I would have let them de-tune the car. My car will never get that de-tuned update. Come what may. They cannot do a silent update in my car since there is a physical part change and I will come to know about that.

We can always do a dyno run for before and after update to compare cars of similar age so that we will know exactly how much we are going to lose.
I am guessing around 10%-15% loss will be there for sure.

I just got a thought in my mind while replying now. Why don't we keep a stock latest map as a backup so that even if they force us to do it. we can always go back to original glory.
I hope Petes or Tune-O-tronics or Race Dynamics come with an option to restore it back,.

I dont know how much 1.5 Tdi engines will lose. Already the new engine was stressed to match the power of 1.6 tdi. Let's see.
