Greetings 4X4addict
Thankyou so very much for the kind words. Have been badly caught up with my 2nd semester and then with work so didn't get too much time. Will post the picture in a day or two maximum. Yes the anniversary edition omits it but you can get it at a cost because the anniversary edition is just a kit that is added onto a standard vehicle by the dealer so I chose not to get the stickers put and asked to retain the MID. The dealer Premier Motor Garage in chandigarh helped me get the MID kit from Thailand. The owner of the workshop is one of the sweetest people I've met and listens to you and gets the work done. The personalized attention is what draws me back to the dealership. Yes its on the original wiring harness with no cuts made to the wiring whatsoever.

Nice to see a thread here in t-bhp too. Such cars are rare on the roads and that makes it even rarer to see ownership threads on a forum
Cheers! |
Thats so sweet of you IshaanIan. I remember sitting in the boot seeing my Grandfather or Father driving our earlier Pajero dreaming to drive one of them one day. It is a beautiful car and recommend it to most who ask me. Thanks a ton will try and keep it updated now.

Please post some pictures of the interiors also and yes the travelogue and the write-up on how the vehicles fared on some of the most challenging roads in the world
The old Pajero still holds its ground next to the new one. I think this is the first time that Mitsubishi have gone the Toyota way and based the Pajero on a pick-up platform, the Old Pajero and Montero were stand-alone models as far as I know |
Yes this has a very special place because since my sister saw it for the first time she told us that we had to get it. I'll post the pictures ASAP. Yes both have their advantages.

Thankyou so very much. I am sure you must've received your car by now. Hope it's doing great. Wish you many safe kilometers.

I know a few who swear by Mitsubishi, I do too. I drive a 99 Lancer which has clocked 198000km on the odo and still runs like new!
I took a test drive on the Pajero Sport 2 weeks ago soon after testing the Isuzu MU7, below are my thoughts -
What I liked about the Isuzu - very spacious, comfortable seats, above average ride quality
What I didn't like about the Isuzu - average interiors, very spongy gear shift, steering wheel lacked feedback, the engine seemed rough when revved high, engine noise levels in cabin didn't impress, ample body roll.
What I LOVED about the Pajero - very refined engine, splendid "feel", shifter felt far better than the Isuzu's, nice steering response, I liked the clutch too. What bowled me over was the ride quality - this vehicle makes you feel potholes / bad patches on the road just didn't exist. Control switches/knobs on the dashboard ooze quality.
What I wish was better about the Pajero - seating space and leg room in the back seat are decent for 2 large adults, 3 would find it slightly uncomfortable.
Overall the Pajero Sport put a smile on my face and I walked away thinking this is one vehicle that is well put together, built well and the engine has loads of "character"! |
Hi Prozac
I was at the dealership recently and I saw a 2006 Pajero that had run over 4.25 Lakh Km's. The engine had never had an overhaul and just normal services.
It is a good car and I am very very happy with it. The advantage is that you just dont seem to get tired. I am so glad you liked the car. Long journeys I've had 3 people sitting on the middle row without complaining but maybe 2 would be more comfortable. The car feels solid and you don't feel the bumps at all. I had a recent incident where an army truck took a sharp turn and I did the same just to realize they were a few cows infront and the way the car handled I was blown over. I could not stop smiling for the entire journey after that.

You said, you wanted to retain MID, please elaborate as to how this can be changed ?
thanks |
Greetings Wanderer,
I have had a fortuner and it was the first refreshed one in my city in January 2012. We have a lot of different vehicles in the family such as an E220 Cdi, Safari, Optra, Lancer, Innova, Bolero's, Ambassador, Marshal, Gypsy etc.
I retained my MID by asking my dealer to get a special '' Dash Kit '' from Thailand and hence with that I have the touchscreen system as well as the MID. Will put up pictures soon.

Greetings Slush_Traveller
Thankyou. Yes it feels plush with good quality material used. The seat is comfortable and gives you a good view. Although we don't use the last row very often but it's ok. Compared to the Montero I feel the Pajero Sport's seat is more comfortable. and the fact that it folds in totally is the icing to the cake.

Thankyou puchoo
That's great to hear. I remember feeling like a celebrity roaming around in a Pajero back then. The Japanese imports. The Pajero was way ahead of its times maybe thats why in markets like ours we kept buying them til 2012 ?

Thankyou deoelect
Yes the exclusivity factor was one of the things that got me hooked to Mitsubishi's also.

Heard that Mitsubishi's are costly to maintain. Whats the maintenance like on your earlier Pajero. Will be waiting for your travelogue thread.
Enjoy riding and taming the beast. |
Greetings ghodlur
Thankyou so very much. Hahaha yes I've seen cars changing their lanes seeing the car in their rear-view mirrors. Although I don't push anyone around but still manage to get space.
I beg to differ here. I've had very cheap services compared to other members on the forum. My First service was at 1,000 km which hardly costed anthing. My 10,000 km service was around 3500 Rs and 20,000 was around 4-5 K. Will check up on actuals and let you know.

Yes all of us have a special place for the classic Pajero but there were certain factors such a poor fuel economy, emmission norms, design etc with which the company could not take it forward. I think during the end the sfx was available in all white.

Thankyou so very much. For a moment you sounded like my Dad who still drools over the classic one. A lot of my family and friends say that but let's just say both have their Pro's ? Haha.

Thankyou for the wishes. I agree the Montero when we bougth it was around 34 and was the best then but now it's certainly the PS. The earth brown looks lovely too. Will wait for it.

How very true. But we can't call this blind faith rather the faith that the product has built in us over the years that makes us believe so. Thankyou

Incidentally I've done 3x 1000kms trips in the last 3 months with 3-6 people and the drive has been nothing short of amazing. the stability this has at speeds irrespective of road conditions/terrain and on the fly 4x4 is really commendable. in fact i never considered the 4x4 shift that important untill i drove in broken roads and Rains. |
Greetings sh@rpshooter
Yes you never seem to need it till the terrain is really tough. I recently did Chandigarh Srinagar around 700 + Km in a day which had a fair share of highway driving and mountain terrain but the car drove like a dream.

Since, the advent of Mitsubishi in Indian market. Ive always considered it to be one of those Japanese Auto maker distinct from the rest that have made thier way to Indian shores.
The previous generation Pajero owner's swear by its robust build, off-road capability and etc. I liked everything about the previous-gen Pajero except the dual-tone colours with which it was sold in India.
As far as Punjabi's are concerned, Ive a perception: Punjabi love thier cars more than anything else, and they love cars that have robust build, well balanced ride and handling. Its no wonder, they have a predilection for cars made by Ford and Mitsubishi.[But, then thats my perception, being a Punjabi as well!!] |
Greetings ritedhawan
Thankyou for your kind wishes. Yes they are beautiful vehicles and I recommend them to everyone who asks me.
I think the dual colour looked odd till we bought 2 of them. While the silver one blended with the white the black started looking like a combination of the two colours. For me the car looked a little younger for somereason.
Yes Punjabi's and their Gadi's go hand in hand always. Be it the safari, endeavour, fortuner, Pajero you see more of these on the roads then people.

Both cars have their positives and negatives but ride comfort and the over
all feel of the vehicle coupled with the offroad ability the PS has an advantage.
