Hi lapis_lazuli, that cage supports the OE HU and will have to come out. Unless it has screw holes in the right place which will accept the fasteners that keep the after market HU secure. The aftermarket HU will come with its own cage and once you see the two together you can decide whether to keep the original cage or use the new one. The anchoring screws (cage to car panel) will be common in size & location so they will definitely be reused.

Guys, finally got delivery of tjet today. Unfortunately it got delayed by few weeks due to sudden concretisation of road in our lane.

Took the delivery from Pandit Auto - Pune. Hassle free experience overall.

Posting few snaps that I had taken few days prior to delivery while carrying out detailed PDI check.

Great stuff! Glad to hear Pandit Auto did a friction-free handover.

This photograph is a sight for a sore Fiat fan's eyes: a Punto, and an older Tuscan wine Linea too! Far likelier in Pune or Bangalore than here up north, sadly.

You know: singular though the earlier exteriors were, the new one has just as much presence, especially from the rear, what with the big fat tyres and that chrome band + black 'diffuser' on the rear bumper. Also, the judicious use of chrome, and those alloys.

Do post your initial experiences and observations.

Cheers man, and enjoy this great ride!

Goof-up!: that photograph is at Pandit Auto's, right? I seem to have jumped to the conclusion that it was in the stilt parking of your apartment building.

Thanks desdemona. The photos were taken in the basement parking of pandit auto showroom where I wanted to do a detailed PDI, 3 / 4 days prior to delivery.

You rightly mentioned about "big fat tyres". The top end has those. My friend who accompanied me for PDI was impressed with them. Rather his first remark was "wow look at those tyres".

He was totally sold out on linea and I played every part in ensuring he does! It definitely is a gem of a car.

The tuscan wine is a lovely color , that was my first choice when i made the initial booking of the jet but then opted for the blue . wife has a role to play in these things even if i pretend otherwise...

Many congratulations and wishing you a great ownership experience and hoping for a detailed review up and about soon! All this talk of tyres makes me want to go and clean the alloys , have not been able to do it for a while but they are stunning , especially when all cleaned up and with a hint of shine to them!

Thanks puchoo. Yours and other tjet threads went a long way in my decision.

Just took a close-up of the brand new alloy after parking.

While I have read the car cleaning and polishing thread, there are many good products and techniques mentioned. Need to narrow down on some simple ones to keep linea clean. Can anyone recommend pls?.

I do not want the watchman to just start wiping with his cloth as I know that it would create swirl marks.

This is what I do:
1. Jopasu Car duster - for daily use, just dust the car using this duster, very effective.
2. Weekly or Bi-weekly - wash the car using Sonax or Formula 1 car shampoo.
3. Every six months - Wax & polish the car, I use the Collinite 845

Thanks a lot finneyp!
That's as simple and precise piece of info as one would expect to get. Few quick questions,
1. Jopasu car duster - do we directly use it to dust the car. Would it not make any minor scratches on the car body?
2. Sonax / Formula 1 car shampoo - any recommended ratio for mixing with water as such, or it need not be diluted?
I have never used any car cleaning, polishing products until now, hence these questions.

This duster is wax coated duster & meant to be directly used on the car surface.

Yes, it needs to be diluted, the ratio & instructions are written on the can.

Sonax (or any car shampoo for that matter) needs to be diluted with water - simple rule is, one cap of Sonax for 1 bucket of water. You might be deceived by the minor quantity of Sonax in a cap, but the way it creates foam is beyond imagination.

@swiftnfurious - thanks for the advice.
Got jopasu duster and ArmorAll wash and wax for cleaning. Also a micro fibre towel that can be used for wiping. Will check them out and post results in couple of days.

Re: The 2014 Fiat Linea Facelift - Test Drive & Review

Fiat planning to introduce a base variant of Linea.

Quote:
The test mule sports black bumpers which gives us a hint of it being a base variant which could become a hit with the taxi fleet operators. On the outside, the car retains the fog lamps and body colored outer rear view mirrors.
