So in chennai, the OTR price for Top end ASTA Diesel costs only 8.68L? Surprised to know because, when i checked the bangalore price when igen i20 was launched, it was close to 9.5L !!! Close to a lac less now between two cities. Did Hyundai reduce Diesel Asta prices, because of Amaze effect? Any idea?

Well noticed! Checked it on my car as well. Until 15kmph all the doors are unlocked but after 15kmph only the driver door is unlocked (all checked from driver side controls).

I'm not sure if it's because of the Honda Amaze, but the dealer did tell me their i20 sales had dropped not only in their showroom but across Chennai. This was the reason for their discounts.

Ok,faced first major problem with my Nov 2009 i20 petrol Magna,milage 15000KM

While returning back from dinner yesterday night,the clutch became stiff,I pumped it a couple of times since the car is not used very frequenltly.
For time being it became normal but taking a substantial time to return to original position,kind of getting 'sticky'.

Finally at a traffic signal it got completely stuck and refused to move.With the help of few guys I managed to pull it along the side of the road.Called the SA and they told it could be clutch failure which I refused to believe but since no other choice and wife with me, dint took any risk and got it towed to the SA.Sanjay Hyundai charged me 2100 for towing the car 35 Kms

The mechanic called me today to confirm the clutch is ok but the slave/master cylinder has gone kaput.They will replace the slave cylinder & see if it works else replace master cylinder as well, cost ~3K

I told them to put it on hold till I visit SA tomorrow.Searching on the forum led me to believe its a manufacturing defect in the earlier i20's (2009 & 2010) Sadly car is out of warranty so everything would be from my pocket.

Will update once I visit SA tomorrow.

Do ask them to do clutch bleeding as well. Even after replacing the muster cylinder in my 2009 i20 Asta(1.2), I faced the hard clutch issue.

I finally got it checked. The SA said the iTouch can be connected and music can be controlled only if we use the ipod usb-aux composite cable. This has the ipod connector at one end and an USB as well as 3.5 mm aux on the other end. This is supplied with Elantra but not with other models. He got one and showed it working when both USB and Aux were connected.
It also works with iPhone.

So the master & the slave cylinders have been replaced.It is due to normal wear & tear and also due to driving in bumper to bumper traffic.
I had extended warranty for only 3rd year hence paid 7K including labour for this work.

I would suggest everyone to buy 4th year extended warranty as well since these types of problems occur mostly after 3 years of usage.

Clutch plates can wear due to b2b traffic. Not the master or slave cylinders that too at 15k kms.

Can anyone confirm if installing spacers help lower the boat-like feeling at the rear? The i20 wallows a lot - the suspension being on the softer side, but if someone has successfully managed to install spacers (I've done this on our Civic), apart from increasing ground clearance a bit, does it help the i20 be more stable on potholed roads?

Has anyone done this on their i20's yet? BTW, does installing spacers affect the warranty?

I do not have a i20, but, a Santro Xing, with rubber spacers at the rear. IMO the suspension is harder from what it was earlier & thus helps me take corners faster. However, I am not sure how would it affect your warranty ('cause I remember your car as being new & still under warranty), & if its got ABS, do check with experts if the spacers affect ABS working (I have already read that you have got spacers on Civic as well, & so has GTO on his, but still want to be sure since this concerns electronics & rubber in shocker springs may interfere with the signals).

My good friend and fellow Team-BHPian libranof1987's parents took delivery of their new i20 Sportz earlier today. (He's in the US right now)

Maharajah Red color, 1.2 petrol. Just mud flaps and floor mats as freebies.

Final OTR was 5.01 L, including total discounts of 1.2L. They exchanged their 2005 Zen LXi at the dealership.

How much was given for the Zen in exchange ?. I checked out with V3 Hyundai for the i20 Sports/Asta and they offered 10K cash discount and free covers & mats. I'm not eligible for their corporate discounts. Their quoted On-road price was 686,992 without extended warranty, under chassis painting.

90K for the Zen, 20K Exchange Bonus and 10K Cash Discount.

The Zen could have fetched a bit more in the open market but too much hassle and haggle involved, plus the paperwork. This way the dealer takes care of all that. Goodwill and relationship takes priority here, and it's worth that 10-15K difference.

Still, we thought the dealer got the Zen for a steal.

Adding the discounts of 1.2 lakhs brings the on road price to 6.3. The dealer is quoting 6.86. Looks like I am missing something. Which dealer was it ?.

Gurgaon dealership. I am guessing you quoted Chennai prices?

Add to it, the hassle of out-of-state registration (the Zen is MH-reg.). Working with individual buyers can be a very time-consuming and frustrating process.

The car has been bought in Gurgaon.. low ex-showroom price and lower taxes.
