re: Tata Safari Storme : Test Drive and Review. More pics: pg 47

The competition for Storme is very strong(including the old ones like Scorpio to newer entrants like XUV and Duster) and ticks on many points. Against this Storme if it has to make a mark needs to be priced extremly agressively to start with. Give it 6 mnths to prove itself and then slowly increase the price. Don't do Aria with high first and then offer heavy discount. When Aria was launched there was no competition as such and no benchmark to judge the pricing. But for Storme there is enough of both.

re: Tata Safari Storme : Test Drive and Review. More pics: pg 47

Out in the market to buy a new UV, I am faced by the typical Indian dilemma of comparing the Innova with likes of Safari and Scoprio. In the past 3 months, I've test-driven the Scorpio, Safari, Force One (and of course the Innova and the Xylo).

Having read the various reviews here, and not too many sources at that - I've been thoroughly confused on whether to go for the Safari GX or hold my horses till the storme is launched.

Since I'll be driving mostly in the traffic-infested city of Mumbai, the shorter turning radius of the Storme will be an undebatable advantage.

This is a race ... a race of Storme launching VS. my patience running out.

An outrage, considering the state of our roads.
Another glitch is that between two variants of the same car, tax increases by over 50k as one ascends the 10 lac line.

I would suggest you wait for the Storme, it is definitely better than the GX ( I own a GX), so "hold your horses"

Are you guys surprised by the lack of any teaser ads for the Storme ? Last few days even M&M, Renault,VW and Honda are coming out with lot of ads but nothing for the Storme yet. Maybe they think pricing will be too good and obviates need for ads !

So I guess we will get more clarity on pricing and final specs by tomorrow as per my sources as well. So let us wait at bit and see.

TATA has the advantage this time of clearly knowing the market and all the other manufacturers have already fired their products first. This is different from how it was for TATA with the first Safari as well as with the ARIA.

Feel the marketing guys will go a bit aggressive this time round.

I am now desperately waiting for the Storme to hit the market. Just hope the pricing is not too high and they have something in a budget of 10 lacs for mango people like me

Would love to own a Safari - age old dream of having the beast with me - did not materialize last time and I bought the Punto now that I am out to buy a new car - Safari it has to be..

Well even if "storme" is out of your budget, you still can easily own the current gen-Safari, it is a worth buy for sure.

Even I have the same feeling. We might buy the current Safari but if they discontinue it few years, it will be a dud.

Also of late Tata has a habit of launching their products at high price and when it does not sell - give a huge discounts - eg Aria. Hope they don't do the same with the Safari Storme.

When there is a platform shift between the Safari and the Storme, is it really wise to go for the older Safari? Remember, unlike other facelifts, where the newer one is often old platform with tarted looks, this one is actually a new platform with similar looks. Don't be fooled!

Safari Storme pre launch Media drive Today at Lavasa:

Quote:
However, there is a pre-launch media drive event at Lavasa which is scheduled for today.

..... The interesting bit about all of them was that each car carried normal MH-14 registration and none of them had temporary or test registration red number plates. One of them even had crash guard installed! Majority of them were white and brown and VX trim.
The event is scheduled at Lavasa Convention Center looking at the arrangements that were being done to decorate it. ......

But this is something that is inevitable. Old Safari is already a 10 year old platform. It will ultimately be phased out 2yrs, 5 yrs or may be 6 mnths down the line. Tata will continue to support it for some more years post its phased out.

Guys, looks like this is the STORME version 2 already !
In the very first commercial TML launched, it had their traditional naming convention of Safari in big letters and Storme below in a small sized letters. Whereas the truck label has Safari in small size letters, but Storme in big !

Counting mins and hours to get to see the vehicle in flesh and have a drive !

Prem.
