Great pictures Ajay. Glad to know that your Ertiga performed well enroute. I am also planning a long trip on my ZDi soon.

All,

Re-opening this thread a bit. I recently became a proud owner of a Serene Blue Zxi. I am probably the first coloured Ertiga around in Pune (rest I have seen on the road are all white). The initial ownership and buying experience have been excellent! Got it from Mahalaxmi Automobiles, Senapati Bapat road, Pune.

That said, I thought I will share some of my other observations.
  • The first point I wanted to make was about the vehicle colour. Please see the photos below. I see a marked difference between the Maruti advert and my vehicle (both serene blue). Of course the advert is definitely touched up (photoshop?) or may be my photos are a bit dull. I would have liked the colour of my car to be a bit deeper, its more like gray. Though I dont mind this, I wanted to point it out to other owners. It is hard to see a demo Ertiga in colours. So if you are picky about the colour dont go by the advert only.
  • My second point is about the seat covers on the middle row. I got an MGA approved set. However they conceal the middle row lever on the top that lets tilt the seats from the third row. Obviously I noticed this only after the seat covers were fitted and I got the car home. Does any one know if I can get at least one of the middle row seat covers cut and re-stitched so that the lever at the top of the seat can be operated?

Other than those points, my car (or LUV) is driving very well. All the points mentioned by GTO, Ajay and other writers have been on the spot. Ertiga is a great Value For Money car.

Just go back and ask them to fit the covers properly. Go to the showroom incharge if the supervisors don't attend to the issue. They simply have not fitted the covers properly (it requires removing the side panel and the lever before fitting). You may also call Maruti Toll free as a last resort.
Although mine were not MGA (Auto Form make), but I had to be firm and push them to fit the covers properly. Initially they had done the same as they did in your case.
See below. Side lever frame is fitted and lever can be operated.

Yes, Ajay I had noticed that in your photos earlier. I thought they were a different kind of seat covers with probably a slit for the lever. From your comment it looks like the seat covers need to cut through and the lever assembly fitted on top of the cut.

Is my understanding correct? In any case I am going back to the dealers to get this fixed. Otherwise its a pain to get out of the last row.

Although mine had slits, even then they fitted the covers without aligning the slit with lever and covered the lever making it inoperable. When I insisited, they enlarged the slit and fitted the covers after removing the side panel.

Well. I like to travel among the hills and it is risky to travel during rainy season. I have some plans for next month and onward. Till that time, not much to write about except that it is running like a charm :-).

So glad to know that Ajay. Hope your Ertiga gives you boundless joy and happiness. I have booked a ZDi too and the documented waiting list was 9 months officially in Kolkata. But this was before the Manesar incident.
Am still waiting for a NEWS from Maruti.

Do not forget to update this thread as I am an avid follower of your wonderful thread.

Re: I am in LUV literally - My Maruti Ertiga ZXI

Hello Ajay,
I have been following your posts regularly. So why none for sometime now?
I too had booked a ZXI in May and got its delivery on July 29. During the period I had been reading reviews about Ertiga all over the Net. That's how I landed at team-bhp and the user reviews here had convinced me I had made the right decision.

However the delay was a dampener, and finally when I got the call from the dealer I was offered a white car instead of silky silver and that too without alloys. Your photographs convinced me and the kids that white looked equally good. As for the alloys, I look enviously at your photographs but console myself thinking of the Rs. 25K I saved.

I am driving the car in terrain similar to yours and have already made two long trips on it, including one from Jammu to Chandigarh and back on the same day (700km with FE of 14.5)

As for my experience ... I am LUVING it!

  • Rainy season is the culprit (I love to drive among mountains and rainy season is not suitable for that).
  • Congrats on your LUV. Recently I drove XUV500 (W12). You may not believe it but it helped me rest whatever doubt about my decision to go for LUV :-). XUV's seats are quite hard, rear bench is strictly suited for kids upto 10 years of age only as the bench is laterally too short. The luggage space is non-existent. The engine response is uneven (but quite powerful). I love the smooth power delivery of LUV.
  • I am also getting similar average on long drives (full time AC on).

Re: I am in LUV literally - My Maruti Ertiga ZXI

Dear Ajay

Thank you very much for posting a detailed ownership feedback of your Ertiga ZXi. My cousin brother wanted to booked zxi, but with all the people around just buying diesel versions, it was really hard to find an honest feedback on the petrol version. (even on the internet).
As far as i know, your thread is the only Ertiga Petrol thread in the entire forum, and this has really helped us.
We were told by a SX4 owner that the mileage of Ertiga Petrol will not be more than 8 to 9kmpl. However, as far as i know, SX4 petrol engine was different from the one in Ertiga Petrol (k series).
Your thread and posts have been our deciding factor. We are going ahead with Ertiga Zxi.

Thanks

Although this is not a thread for bashing XUV 500 in any way,but I couldn't agree more with Ajay on these very points that he has noted. I felt very similar on these lines, and although I had already booked an Ertiga ZDi by the time I took a TD on a XUV, I did not change my mind or my booking !!

Thanks. I tried to provide an honest account of what I experienced. I am glad it helped.

LUV has been such a delight. We now travel together with friends to movies, shopping, sightseeing while having fun during the journey also. The vehicle is not unduly large for parking purposes and many a times pass of as a large hatch . It has fantastically optimized space to maximum. Its fuel consumption does not burn hole in the wallet and engine response is added bonus.
