Yes, I am aware of it. It flashes an "H" which means that no "reset" has been carried out.

I am also considering "Emotion" provided there is availability of color and yes "the price".

Now should I or should I not? because with no reset and 138 on odo, I see it okay, through I still seek inputs from the forum to move further.

Not really, here's how it works in my understanding -

- The H is present for the first 200 km. If you exceed 200 km, H will disappear from the odo.

- The odometer can be reset only once, that too only when the H is present, not after it goes away. After the single-allowed reset is done, H is present again from 0 km to 200 km, after which it will disappear. No more resets can be done during or after this.

- There is no way to find out if the reset has already been done once within the first 200 km window. So the current mileage displayed might very well be X kms (some reading below 200 km, then reset done) + new odo reading.

For your specific case, I find 138 km to be quite a high odo figure for a new car, unless your dealer has a stockyard located 50-60km out of town and drives the car to the showroom on registration day. It could very well be 199km + 138 km if it had been used for test drives and reset. I'd suggest you to ask the dealer to give you a car with a double digit figure and H present on delivery, preferably something around 50-60km. Mention to the SA that you will not accept demo cars or test drive cars and you have 'ways to find out'. They will usually be wary of such informed customers and won't try any nonsense with you.

Are you sure the H is present after the reset also? When I got my car back in 2010, it had 17km on the odo and no H. I always assumed the dealer must've reset it once.

You can reset once, when 'H' is present on the ODO. After the reset, the 'H' won't show up again.

If you do not reset, it naturally disappears when ODO touches 200km.
