It is Galaxy Toyota that is located in Moti Nagar. I would choose the Fortuner in your case. And that is purely because of the Toyota badge and the lack of surety about Mitsubishi's future in India. My experience with Asian motors (Mitsubishi dealer in Delhi) wasn't good at all. Had sent my Lancer for service with them and at the time of delivery I found out that they hadn't replaced the air filter and fuel filter in my car even though the bill had charged me for the same. Also another example is my experience with Nissan. At the time I bought my car, there was a dealership in Moti Nagar. 1 year into my purchase they shut shop and since then it has been a headache getting the car serviced since every time it has to be sent to the other end of the city. Toyota's after sales in comparison always puts a smile on your face.

I know I was dead against the fortuner AT model but after going through various options I decided to go and book it on Monday at Grace Toyota in Moti Nagar Delhi. Now again a big dillema comes up as I was only looking at AT models and a budget of 25L, Rexton was meeting my criteria but felt Fortuner was a more value for money even though it was 2 L above budget. With Pajero sport AT being launched there are no reviews but a lot of people in this forum consider the Pajero sport a better vehicle. I am only worried about the ASS of the Pajero. Kindly help. |
I too am in the same boat as you. I have been looking for an SUV option to replace my trusted Laura and everything point towards the Fortuner. Rexton and Pajero may both be considered as an option for different reasons but the Toyota ownership experience and the sheer presence of the Fortuner (even though they are a million) on the road makes it my only choice. My only serious problem with this car is the ride quality. But I guess you can't get everything. Are you being offered any year end discount?

I started my search in Mid July and my search still continues, the reason I was not in a hurry and wanted to derive the most from the dealer but guess things have changed. Rexton has increased prices by 50k from 1st Nov, Toyota dealer looked at me almost as if I have committed a crime by asking for a discount as I would get a 2014 vehicle. He claims you are buying a premium vehicle in the range of 27L, in this range the year does not matter. How strange? I had been to the showroom again yesterday to derive the max but got nothing and came back empty handed. I am where I am since July stupid:

Haha! Ask him why do BMW, Merc, Audi offer discounts to the tune of 4-5 lakhs on the 30 Lakhs Rupee car? and 9-12 lakhs on the 45 Lakh rupee car and up 20 lakhs on the Q7 range of cars whenever the calender or financial year changes.
Heck I got a discount to the tune of 20% in all on a premium Motorbike I bought at the end of a financial year.
There is nothing premium, nothing regular. All these are numbers. Its a game of numbers and an issue of Targets. Whenever those targets are to be achieved, people are willing to do anything!
Right now those targets might be in sight for them. In March there will definitely be targets to be achieved and they will give discounts.
The thing is, Fortuner sells, Toyota and its dealers do not have to make an effort to sell the car, hence you may come across high handedness (I cannot & do not tolerate this) and lack of interest.
Being based @ Delhi, you can visit multiple dealers and bargain as well as also look at the Pajero Sport, a better overall vehicle in my opinion. The RX-6 is a worthy contender too.
Test Drive each & take a call, a penny here & there should not call the shots where heart is involved.
Must say, in presence, the Fortuner towers over Rexton and stands few inches above the Pajero Sport. Looks better as well. And also, you can't ignore its service & resale aspect.

It's an unconventional solution, but I don't understand why Fortuner owners won't
downsize their rim size. Going down to 15 inchers will greatly, significantly improve ride comfort. There are plenty of 15" rim & tyre options in the after-market (this is the most popular size with UVs) and good quality rubber will ensure there's no loss of grip.

Hello guys. I'm getting my Fortuner delivered in 3 days. I know it's totally inadvisable to buy a car in December but I got a 25k discount (I know ! I was surprised too. The SA was all secretive about it but I guess its kinda their ploy ), which I promptly used to get some accessories. And I heard news about a possible hike in taxes to 24% (My dad told me this I usually spot these things in papers but I don't recall reading it). What I wanted to know was I am doing a PDI tomorrow and I already have the Team BHP PDI checklist but is there anything I have to look for ? I mean in a Fortuner specifically. And since its being driven from Cochin to Kottayam I'm particularly nervous. Looking forward to your valuable advice and feedback.please:
2 years and 6 months, 35,500 KMS on our broken roads in a 320D, I realized our Roads are better suited for a SUV than a Beemer. Decided to go for a used Fortuner to recover part of the financial loses os selling BM. Took me close to 2 months to find a buyer who could match my ask for the BMW, I was lucky to find a used 2013 April – Black (was my preferred color) AT within 2 days after giving of my car. Here are some snaps of the Big Black Beast. It came with bumper guards in front and back, thought it’s taking off the macho look and got rid of it. Had a good round treatment done by Nirmal (Keystone Detailers) and it is gleaming now.
I am yet to find time to put a long term ownership report in my Vermillion Red 320D thread
Snaps before detailing with the Bumper Guards
and after the fantastic work from Nirmal.
With the man who did the magic tranformation
BHP stickers go in front and back

Congrats Kraken. You are very lucky that you got it in such a short time.
Enjoy
All,
Heard from a dealer that 4X4 AT is due in Q1 next year but would come with a smaller 2.5 engine (not the 3L engine)- not sure of the reason though! Please keep this in mind if you are considering a 4X4 AT Fortuner.
thanks.

That is good news. I would hazard a guess that AT mileage (kmpl) is less than Manual transmission 4x2 and 4x4 AT would be even lesser. In that scenario if smaller engine is more fuel efficient then it makes more sense.
Hi all
I have read and also heard from MGF Toyota Gurgaon that actually there are two models of Fortuner expected in 2015.
1. A 4X4 A/T with the same engine.
2. A 2.5 innova engine which would be priced slightly less.
Moreover the dealer even said that Toyota would increase the price of the present 3.0 by around 50k in January.
I AM EXTREMELY CONFUSED COZ
A. I wish to buy a fortuner n I planned to buy a 2015 as it's already December. But January might make it costlier by another 50k. I don't know that this 50k story is to push the otherwise sluggish sales year end month by the sales guy.
B. If a new model would come than I may even opt for 2.5 coz my driving is with almost zero offroading. More over with new model there would be certain cosmetic change in looks too.
C. I might sound stupid coz my confusion didn't ends here. A friend of mine suggested a used fortuner to me which is April 2014 Delhi regustered 4X2 Manual with 8000km odo. The guy is asking 22 lac. A new one costs 26 lac. I have never bought a second hand vehicle ever. What should be a fair price n what should I look for if I explore this option further.
See I'm extremely confused.
Please help.

Hi
A. You can buy the Car in Dec 2014, pay everything and ask him to Invoice on 1st Jan 2015. Toyota normally changes the price in 1st week of new year. Even if its Invoice by end Dec 2014, you can ask the dealer to get it registered in Jan 2015. Worse case, in places like Mumbai, you will wait for physical delivery.
B. 2.5 Litre Engine would come at almost the same price as the current 4X2 MT, so why not take a bigger Engine now. 2.5L is not going to be fuel efficient as Innova is not a great car as far as mileage is concerned.
C. If you can afford 22 L, please spend another 3 lakhs and get a new one. In Delhi, it cost around 25.4L, if you buy your own Insurance or negotiate hard with dealer on Insurance.
Thanks a lot wanderers. Your reply is actually helpful. As a matter of fact I live in delhi but I'm a native of gurgaon.
I can get a better price due to tax benefits in haryana.
This is what I found out about Fortuner refresh.
- 2.5L 4x2 MT & AT in addition to existing 3.0L variants
- 3.0L 4x4 AT
- Launch later (end of) this month
- Black interiors
- Dark Grey Alloys
- Navigation with voice control
- New colour, Bronze Mica Metallic
