That's a nice tribute. As for the equipment for price point, I think Maruti couldn't really do it with first gen Swift petrol with a 1.3L engine. They had already lost the price advantage & didn't qualify for the lower excise bracket.

Later when the K-series engine was introduced, they didn't reduce a single paise there by easily making a good margin on the product.

Hello All,

I also have a Maruti Swift Zxi, 2012 purchased and we call her as 'Laado'. We have taken her to multiple places within India and our 'Laado' has performed as per the expectation. She is one of our trusted family member. No breakdown, no niggles, no trouble apart from some small issues like replacing the ORVM adjustment knob and two times puncture.

However, since last two months, a 'spring stretch' type of sound is coming while moving in a slight incline road and recently took her to MASS to figure out the issue. After a test drive with their engineer, it was found that rear axle suspension is having problem and they have suggested me to replace the suspension for which they have provided me estimates of Rs 12500. I had a talk with their SE Mr. David who is my trusted SE since last 4 years and he has mentioned to me that even if I am not going for replacement, there is no issue and can still drive with the same suspension even for next 2 years. As I travel a lot and I am visiting Munnar again during Dec, whether I need to be worry? Do I need to change or I can still drive without any problem?

Please suggest.

Take a look at this Swift making its way across the track at Nurburgring! It is a miracle that is does not flip. One can just imagine the amount of damage to the body an identical Swift made for India would be subject to!

My 2008 model 1.3L Swift Petrol makes a whistling sound at low RPMs. Got throttle body cleaned but it did not help. What could be the possible reason?

There is a lot of rattling noise coming from dashboard in my My Swift Vdi 2013. The current odo reading is 47000 kms.

It is very irritating, This noise is audible at almost all RPMs but it is higher in lower RPMs specially during cold starts.

Where can I take the car to get it fixed? Annual/10k service is some 5-6 months away.

Anybody knows of a place in Gurgaon/Delhi other than MASS?

A friend of mine is buying a Swift Lxi option pack. During PDI we found that there is no Lxi badge on boot door. SA says no badge is there for Lxi Option pack. Is that a correct statement?

Be it any option pack, the base monogram will be there on the boot lid. What I mean is be it LXi (O) or VXi (O), there will be LXi or VXi on the boot lid. The "(O)" won't be given.

So ask the dealer to show any other car that fulfills what he says.

Interesting. We confronted the dealer today, and he is sticking to his word that this is how the car came from factory. Car manufacturing date is Nov 2016, there is no sign of a repaint, we checked the car right after its arrival on prev night. We booked the car in Sept and was waiting for Maruti to build it for him.

I've asked my friend to write to Maruti to confirm.

Other interesting part is that car came with Bridgestones as OEM tires.

That's funny. How it is possible to not have a base variant monogram! That's the first way one differentiates with variant.

I can understand the manufacturer not providing badge for the (O) but basic LXi missing is shocking.

Someone close to me recently took delivery of his Brezza LDi and the variant emblem was missing in his car too.



I have seen many Swifts offlate lacking any variant badging.

Maruti Suzuki has quietly introduced the following features in the Swift.

Seat belt reminder lamp and buzzer for all models - Zxi and Zdi already have it.

Driver airbag in Lxi Opt, Vxi, Ldi and Vdi.

Front seatbelt pre-tensioner and force limiter in Lxi Opt (O), Vxi(O), Zxi, Ldi(O), Vdi(O), and Zdi.

Planning to buy new swift soon since my 4 year old santro has started giving some issues which the service guys are failed solving. Somehow I feel they do not understand the problem itself.
Is the 2017 model different than 2016? Dealer may sell me old model since I am unaware of the difference. How do I check that? Also plan is to go for vxi(o) with abs and airbags.
Any other suggestions please before I go ahead and book it.

Next generation Swift is likely to launched in festive season 2017 if rumours are to be believed. Else what you are getting now is what you would have got in 2016. VXi(O) is a good choice IMO.
