Most Z variants have a feeble clicking noise coming from the height adjustment during lateral loading. Please keep us posted on how this one holds up. I have complained to MASS during service but to no avail.

How much did it cost you? What are going to do with the old seat?

Rs6600/- for the complete seat including the rails and belt buckle. Not decided what to do with the old seat, might sell it off or turn it into furniture.
Ill watch out for that clicking sound, didnt notice any so far.

Wow. Great to see this! So is it a direct fit in the existing holes? I believe it would be direct fit for a Ritz Zxi to Vxi variant too!

Mileage - should I be worried?

I have a Swift ZXI (petrol), which has around 6k on the odo right now. The car is almost stock, except for the tyres which I have upgraded to 195-section A-Drives from the 185-section stock MRFs.

I'm getting a mileage of around 13-13.5 kmpl consistently, measured on a tankful-to-tankful basis. My usage is around 60% on a congested highway (BLR-MYS) and the rest in moderate city traffic. I run AC 100% of the time. I like to believe that by and large I drive with a light foot (don't often rev beyond 2.5k too).

I think the mileage I'm getting is definitely on the lower side, considering the usage. Swift petrol owners, please pitch in with your experiences.

I did ask MASS to look into mileage during the 5k service, but I suspect they did nothing.

Very similar experience - I also have a ZXi, drive with 100% AC, but mostly in the city. Initially the "average" reading used to show 14.8, but pump would actually give 13 or so.

Nowadays, it has further dropped. Talked to maruti, they did some test drive in less-congested roads with AC off, and car showed average of 17 or so. No conclusive solution from them.

I have decided to switch to only Shell, and also moved to Nitrogen, with the hope that tyres will hold pressure for longer. Lets see if these help ...

re: Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)

Swift 4x4 launched and will go on sale for UK market next month

Review: 2nd-gen Maruti Swift (2011 - 2017)-0_0_860_http__i.haymarket.net.au_galleries_20130709024340_suzukiswift4x472.jpg

This 4X4 system will come with a fully automatic and permanent 4-wheel drive system that transfers additional torque to the rear wheels when necessary through a viscous coupling.

The 4x4 is 65kg heavier than an equivalent 2WD petrol model.

However there is no news yet of it coming to India.

Swift 4x4 it was available in Germany and some other scandinavian countries since the time when the model was launched. I don't think it'll come to India.

It doesn't make sense to launch a 4x4 hatch in India when the 4x4 system is more of designed to provide traction in snow rather than a pure off roader.

Sankar, can you confirm if a choice of upholstery on the height adjustable seat is available? My VDI came with a different seat cover and I would want to get the height adjustable seat from the ZDI.

In other news, my Swift went past 40,000 kms and counting: Link.

Height adjustable seat only comes in the Z fabric trim, but if you don't have seat covers on you can transplant the V cushions and backrest on to the Z frame. The Z's seat feel slightly more cushier and comfier.

If you're looking for such a transplant you don't even have to get the full seat, just get the height adjustable lower (squab) frame from the Z and replace the V's lower frame with it. Seat sub assemblies are available.

Can't go with the MID, obviously!

My ZXI has had a recent drop in FE, too. With 100% AC, in the city, I get around 13kpl. The MID shows 16!

Earlier, the MID consistently stuck around 17!!

Have noticed that driving style/environment(ie city/highway) seems to have a huge impact - noticeably more so than some other cars I've owned.
So much so that, I have to make up excuses to not let the driver get behind the wheel!!!

I second that the FE as per the MID is completely unrealistic. My MID presently shows 16.5kmpl, while the actual is closer to 13kmpl. Such a large difference renders the MID readout quite pointless, in my opinion.

And yes, even I feel that the FE is very sensitive to driving technique. In the initial 1k km, I was careful to not rev beyond 2k RPM. During this time I got a tankful-to-tankful FE of nearly 16.5kmpl (60% highway use).

Overall, I must say that I am pretty disappointed with the VVT K-Series -
a. Middling FE (as discussed above)
b. Poor pickup on inclines, even when at highway speeds.

The only redeeming factor seems to be its smoothness and silence (But that only makes the rattles more audible )

I agree on the MID - at best it is a rough indicator on how bad a mileage to expect in the next visit to the pump

The instantaneous one too - feels good when it hits 30 kmpl, but staying there is usually shortlived in the city :(

In the lower gears, I find that sometimes engine races beyond 2k very quickly. Need to further check. I usually do try to keep it under 2k.
