Re: Polo 1.6:My Grey Hound!

Congrats Speed Kills.. Pepper grey looks sophisticated..

I am considering the Polo 1.6 and just took a TD.. the TD car seemed to have a lag - once u depress the accelerator pedal there is one second delay after which the power surges pushing u back in the seat. I asked the sales person and he said its just the TD vehicle.. wanted to know if u have noticed this in your car..

Also did you consider the Fiesta Classic 1.6 during your purchase decision.

Thanks a bunch

Thanks a lot Nimz! Regarding the power surges, I haven't experienced them till now.
The Fiesta 1.6 wasn't on the list of cars I was keen on taking a TD of. From what I hear, it's a masterpiece. I was looking to upgrade from a Swift to another hatchback as opposed to the trend on TBHP (where majority of Swift owners have upgraded to the Vento)

Your signature says you have the right mix of cars in your garage. A luxury car. A cracker of a gasoline hatch. A sensible and nimble oil burner hatch. Right mix o'.

Having a slight problem with one of my rear doors. The door doesn't lock, nor does the power window work :-(
Would really appreciate inputs.

Re: Polo 1.6:My Grey Hound!

Congratulations Speed Kills! Have a nice drive.

Better get the problem checked with the Service center. Hope the upgrades have not altered the wiring harness...

Better to leave the wiring in a German car untouched.

Did you do any ICE installation or any modification? What event happened before you started encountering this issue?

Don't worry about it. The plug which plugs from the door into these 2 will be a bit loose.

The only ICE installation done was the addition of rear speakers. Apart from that, none what so ever.

Re: Polo 1.6:My Grey Hound!

OK so where and how did you add rear speakers? You mean on the parcel tray? Or did you simply replace the ones on the rear doors? If its the latter, I think something went loose while installing the rear speakers on the rear door?

Re: Polo 1.6:My Grey Hound!

The parcel tray. That's right. The rear door speakers are untouched (although one of the speakers don't work).
Added these speakers

Re: Polo 1.6:My Grey Hound!

I wonder - with the Honda Jazz at about 6.5 lakhs and giving 90 bhp with a 1.2 litre engine with 16 kmpl, with spacious interiors and good finish, should one sacrifice the top 14 bhp to go for a cheaper and better looking and better finished car. The Jazz back seats are really roomy and the ceiling is high, the boot is huge and can be opened out even more. I have to choose between a Jazz and Polo 1.6 in the coming days and will be trying out both in the coming days.

Re: Polo 1.6:My Grey Hound!

Lovely! Pepper Grey is the BEST for the Polo and would have bought it if I wasnt so OCD about Black!
Check the connections to the lock and power window switch. My ICE installer said this is a problem area with the POLO/VENTO and failures are common. It is tricky because access is difficult but is fixable. He also said he is pointing this out to me BEFORE he touches my car because I shouldn't crib about VW not honoring warranty if something should go wrong later!
Boy you do have an awesome garage. The new Passat is a gem of a car and IMO the best car under 40 lakhs now.
Does the mileage improve with time? I cant seem to manage more than 10.5 (at best) as per the MID. I have not checked by the fill to fill method yet. Of course i have run only 350 km thus far and there have been no highway runs, only bumper to bumper city runs on the worst roads in the world!
