It was KUN :-( Pursue with the dealer strongly if you would like to get your car.

I own the new fluidic Verna 1.6 petrol SX O model. I am facing issues with the suspension of the vehicle. The suspension is too soft and in bad roads the ride becomes very un settling. Even on normal roads the car's suspension is not stiff and it tends to bob around vertically. The passengers at the back do not feel comfortable at all . Also, if the car goes through a pothole, the suspension crashes hard and makes a loud thud sound. When the car is stationary, some sort of squeaky noise comes out of the rear suspension when the passengers try to enter/alight. Also, in full load, the car's rear suspension bends too low and comes very close to the wheels.

At high speeds, the car suspension tends to be more vulnerable and the ride becomes very uncomfortable. At speeds above 100 km/h it really doesnt instill confidence in the driver. I think this is a serious issue. A powerful and expensive car worth 10 lakhs having suspension issues like this is not done. I have written to Hyundai on this today and am awaiting a reply.

Any other owner experiencing this issue? I heard the reviews on Autocar and overdrive stating the same but didnt expect it to be so bad. Is there any way out? Is a manufacturer capable of making changes to the suspension to solve the problem or do i just have to live with it and if i have to do the latter then i am very very disappointed.

I am sorry if this is already discussed somewhere else. Please guide me through. Thanks

This is an age-long issue. Even earlier (Gen1 Verna's had this issue in high speeds). Many owners have discussed about this problem here. You could do a search for the same.

Sorry to hear about the suspension issue in a newly launched car. But it seems you are the first one to report it here. Do you face this issue when the car is fully loaded 4-5 adults + boot filled or is it prominent even when you are driving alone? Suggest you show it to the service centre & ask them if they can adjust it on the stiffer side.

This is a problem with the Verna. Lots of power with very little control at high speeds. This is the reason i am staying away from this otherwise wonderful piece of machine.

Please check out this wonderful thread by GTO on a similar problem for the Civic. Since you are in Mumbai, you could check it out for your Fluidic. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...uspension.html

Keep us posted

If that's the only reason, don't! Just go out and get yourself a pair of Konis, springs and high quality tyres; the Verna will then handle equal to / better than most C segment sedans out there.

Honestly, I think this is one of the easiest problems to fix....much more so than what some of its competitors suffer from.

Thank you for the nice suggestion GTO. Would try and get my contacts in Hyundai to see if I can get a Fluidic Diesel sans the long waiting period. My Fusion is on its last legs and I had almost decided to go in for the Magnum. But since this suggestion is from GTO, I would give the Fluidic a try :-)

If I'm allowed to ask here: Between a Verna Diesel SX and a Magnum 2.0 LT, which would you recommend with City:Highway usage being 25:75. I need to decide on my next car (replacement for Fusion) in like a month's time.

+1 to this.

Start with the tyres and you'll begin noticing the difference right away. But to be honest its not as bad as most people make it out to be. I've had mine for a couple of months now and she's 4 highway trips old. While the suspension is not the best in the world, its far from the worst! But the odd hump will be scraped when fully loaded. That's there.

I don't think the Verna's soft suspension is a deal breaker at all. For one, they are giving the masses just what they want (super soft suspension & super light steering). Second, for 50,000 rupees or less, with high quality after-market parts, you can make the Verna behave better than the likes of the City & Vento on the highway. Try fixing the competitors problems for 50 grand and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I own ANHV SX CRDI and experiencing similar characteristics. My previous ride was a Swift and used to be very comfortable at 100 KMH. However, driving ANHV at 110 KMH on highway was little uncomfortable. The ride is very comfortable as long as the road is very flat. On uneven road conditions the suspension feels very soft and becomes wallowy(took this word from Zappo's review comments :-)). I generally drive within the city for 90% of time, so may not be a serious problem for now, but I am still looking for a suspension replacement option.

Also, if the car goes through a pothole, the suspension crashes hard and makes a loud thud sound. This happened to me at least 4-5 times.:Frustrati

Thanks GTO for your inputs. Could you please help me with further information on these parts or share some links where i can read up and decide. Thanks.

While I agree with you that this issue can be addressed by after market solutions, I would still hesitate to do this on a brand new car due to any associated warranty terms and conditions. I'm simply not comfortable with the idea of spending 50k on a brand new car to fix its suspension and the idea just doesn't seem right to me (Its strictly my personal opinion though).

As someone suggested, upgrading to a good set of tyres will be the easiest thing to do and may be an year or two down the line, these after market options can be explored. Best thing to do, will be to get used to the dynamics of the car, drive it within its limits and enjoy it for its positives.

You have been spoilt by the swift my friend. I drive a swift and scorpio regularly and I know what you mean. This IMO was the single biggest flaw in otherwise a fantastic and very desirable car.

I had booked the Verna 1.6 Diesel in the first week of May, just received word from the dealer that my car has left the factory and should be in Delhi within a week!

You are quite right. I will also hesitate in doing that. But, if i am assured of a better ride and a sustainable solution i might go for it.Because currently its always playing on my mind and i feel afraid to push the car. I feel, what is the point of a car like this if you cant drive it to its fullest and always have a fear of crashing it whenever you go through a pothole :Frustrati

One more question. Can Hyundai help their Verna customers out and provide a solution? Is this done before by any other manufacturer?
