Wow! Carbon Grey Verna looks stunning to say the least. Love it in all angles. Double exhaust looks good too. Adds to the already very stylish look of the Verna.

Congrats! You have a fantastic ride (atleast from the looks perspective )

Thanks buddy! I will start the ownership thread shortly. Have to squeeze in some time to do so...

Dual exhaust chrome looks good with Carbon grey. Would love to see chrome handles on this beauty. Enquired with the Sales rep and he said that accesories for New Verna are not yet available.

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

Did my first long drive to Coorg (560+ kms round trip) and following were my observations
  1. The car was extremely smooth, and the engine is very responsive
  2. The AC in the car is fantastic
  3. FE was 15.62 km with high average speeds
  4. Front seat is very comfortable
  5. Since there was only one passenger in the rear it was easy for that person to find a comfortable seating position. I guess the under thigh issue will come into play when there are 3 people in the rear and where there legs need to be straight
  6. Steering is very light but I like a light steering
  7. The car handles well till around 120 km speed and after that does not handle the dips in the road very well. Would not recommend 150+ driving which in any case is not safe on Indian roads
  8. Braking is very good.

Thanks

Could you please share some details on the petrol version:
1. In some reviews i read that the diesel variant is much better in ride and handling. How has your experience been so far? Till what speed did you feel comfortable, esp on the highways?
2. Is the very light steering a matter of concern?
3. How about the rear seat? Way too low? Is it resonably comfortable?
4. What mileage are you getting from the petrol machine?
here you go:
1. Petrol is super silent. Cabin noise is almost inaudible. No issues with handling in city driving. Verna is super comfortable. On highways ride above 120 kmph becomes a bit wobbly.
2. Its only a matter of time to get used to it. In fact light steering is a blessing while parking in tight corners.
3. Yes rear bench is a bit too low but my parents who have been on the same for about 100 kms did not feel uncomfortable at all.
4. For the first 900 kms I clocked 12.5 kmpl with a mix of city and highway driving. Hyundai service personnel told me that the mileage will improve after the first service.

Thanks for the replies. Keep us updated on your ownership. Also, i see that you also own on Honda City ZXI. How would you compare the 2 cars here?

I have loved my Honda since the day I have owned it, but now after experiencing Verna, it seems that I have gone back ages when i sit into my city. Equipment levels in new Verna are amazing as compared to City. Also since City is almost 4 years old its not as silent as the New verna.

On the flip side ride and handling of City is better than Verna at high speeds. City feels much more planted.

Don't want to comment on the the FE till I get my first service done for Verna.

Great review Zappo. Couldnt have asked for more. You have practically covered everything - outside, inside, under the hood, inside the trunk. Will surely help make decisions. And yes, the Citys and the Ventos and the Lineas are sure to face some unpleasant music this time from Hyundai.

Hyundai has managed to confuse a lot of customers with this. Surprisingly the sales personnel have little clue about most of the features on the car. Its actually Super Vision and is Hyundai's way of advertising the adjustable brightness for the Speedo console. The top two variants SX and SX (o) come with an adjuster next to the headlight leveller switch to increase/decrease the console brightness. The other variants just come with the leveller control.

Would anyone have FE figures for the Fluidic A/T diesel - city and highway separately? Most interested in this variant.

In Bangalore booking amount for CRDI is 1.5 Lac now. Also, can anyone please let know if there is air bag deployment ON/ OFF switch in Verna, if yes will it be possible to switch off only passenger side air bag?

re: Review: 2nd-gen Hyundai Verna (2011)

Is the waiting list for the 1.4 Diesel as long as the 1.6 diesel too? I hear very little being talked about the 1.4D as the 1.6D has dwarfed its smaller sibling with its Power and torque output figures. Has anyone booked/bought the 1.4D?
