Yes, this is totally correct. I agree. Even Ford is very good in maintaining a low NVH.

Hi All,

From yesterday, AC of my car ( 1.6 CRDI SX) has stopped working due to leakage of gas. Standard warranty is now over & I have not taken any extended warranty. Car is 26 months old & has done 39k. One thing for sure is Hyundai is still way behind in reliability front when compared to their Japanease counterparts. Took the car to local HASS today & after inspection, they concluded that there is a leakage in cooling coil. The cooling coil requires replacement. Their quote is placed below:

1. Cooling coil- Rs 4,600/-
2. Gas- Rs 900/-
3. Labour- 1800/-
TOTAL : Rs 7300/-

Is the quote ok? How come cooling coil develops leak so early? My 6 yr old Wagon-R had absolutely trouble free AC. Should I get the car inspected from some other service station? FYI, I am sure of the gas leakage as the pressure check was done in my presence.

Agreed ! Though all over TBHP the consensus seemed to be that Teflon coating is not worth it, and I did not get it done, I really wish I had. Might have saved a few chips of paint for me :)

Come to think of it, I think it would really have been worth a try.

BTW, I have not had teflon on any of our cars and Verna is the only one which suffers from this extra delicate nature.:Frustrati

Are you sure on the highlighted part or just unhappy because your car's got a problem? What other problems you have faced? Hyundai has taken giant leaps on quality & reliability fronts & matches the Japs. It the ride+handling & interiors where the European are a notch higher.

My car's clutch is still going strong at ~85k kms & there are no other problems (off late sticky power windows) that his & few other TBHP-ians are facing, as per later posts.

Re repair of your AC, have your tried taking quote of any good car AC expert in your vicinity. Do refer TBHP Directory for the same, probably it will be of some help.

The underlined portions are purely my personal experience. Before Verna, I had used three old gen Marutis, 800, old Zen & Wagon-R for approx. 12 years. Never had such unexpected faults in those old cars. Current Maruti etc. should have been still better.

Problems faced by me during my last 26 months of ownership are:
- Current AC problem.
- Rear sensor replaced three times under warranty.
- Horn relay replaced under warranty.

You can see that I had made five unscheduled visits to Hyundai service station with my Verna. I am sure this would have been less/ NIL had I taken a SX4. Just my opinion. Others may or may not agree.

Is your 85 k done car a Hyundai? Are you saying that you are still on original clutch plate? If it is so, then it is really great going. Cluth plate of a Santro of my Sister went for new clutch plate few days back at around 60K.

Hmm... it seems your are facing niggles, for which even I do not know could have cropped up in a Hyundai :eek:.

However, these days there are many companies doing the warranty replacements, which is good as it builds trust of the company backing the customer in case of any problem & also conveys that the company is willing to correct any mistake or problem with the product.

Not sure, about other cars, but I'm sure you won't have been happier in a SX4, for it's got more body roll & the interiors are a notch lower than Verna.

Mine is a '03 Santro Xing, which has been primarily driven either by me or my brother. But, there have been phases when we have hired drivers for few months to have family member chauffeured around town. And yes, its most of components have never been replaced, except tyres at 44K kms, front shock absorbers at ~50k kms, fuel pump at ~62k kms & gear stick leather cover.

In fact, it was our first car straight after the driving school & now I can say that we have become proficient driving the car.

These days it runs on CNG+Petrol, & I believe I will retain the car for few more years despite increasing mileage, because of its reliability.

I am also attached to the car, because it has been a trusty companion all the 10 years, being a part of good & bad times, not complaining once. If I were to describe my experience with my car in one word, I would say it has been "brotherly", & has helped build trust & faith in brand Hyundai.

Today on way home from office i saw a fairly new RED color fluidic verna. It wasnt one of those cherry reds. It was the kinda red we see on Polo and Vento.

When did Hyundai launch a RED color for Verna? And honestly speaking, it didnt suit the car at all. Just my opinion. No offence to anyone.

- Projector headlights and integrated day-time running LED lights (DRLs), which in India will be reserved for the top-end variant, or be offered as optional equipment.

-The steering-mounted controls have been reworked for better ergonomics.

- The infotainment system, along with the audio has been updated as well.

Guys - Need some advise on insurance. My insurance is due for renewal next year Feb. Getting calls for Tata AIG, offering premium if Rs 22,000/- Zero % Dep. This includes 20% NCB, 40% discount and 10% commision wave off. First year insurance was for 30K. Does this sounds good? Have never dealt with Tata AIG before also. Please suggest. Thanks.

I work in the insurance department itself and deal with many insurers daily. Tata AIG is a fairly good insurer and their service is also decent and responsive. And that quote isn't bad either.

But, I recommend to get a couple of quotes from your existing insurer and other insurers like Future Generali or Bharti AXA just to compare and make sure that you got the best quote and to bargain further with them if possible.

By the way, does any body know if there are any after market suspensions for enthusiasts available for Verna Fluidic?

I totally love my verna in every aspect, except for its soft suspension. It's marvelous engine doesn't deserve that setup. Heard long backthat some guys in bangalore are preparing a TEINS street suspension for Verna.
Does anybody know about it?Can any body help me with this?please:

Guys I can't find any review for petrol 1.6 manual transmission.
Could somebody guide me to that ?

Exactly my feelings.To me, the only problem is soft rear suspension. I am fine with the front suspension & steering feel till 140/150 kmph unlike many. I have talked to the service station for stiffer rear set up. He told me that if the rear springs will be replaced by spring of Accent's ( provided they fit into Verna), then rear can be stiffened. Approx cost of one spring is Rs 600/-. Can any one throw light on this, or any other method like spacers etc to stiffen the rear of Verna ?

Unfortunately there are no after market suspension for Verna from any of the suspension majors. Remember Verna is called as accent in foreign markets. So if you find any suspension manufacturer having a set up for accent then it will fit Verna also.

As far as red rooster and their suspension for Verna is concerned its a joke. They said they are working on a setup for i20 as well. They give the same standard reply every time.
