Having had hydraulic power steering on my Fusion, the Verna steering was really strange when I first drove it...sort of like turning a Game console steering wheel. I didn't think I would ever get used to it, but you know what? I was totally used to it in a few weeks! As for handling, I find no issues at all at speeds upto 100, unless there's a rough patch on a bend - then it does get a bit wobbly, and my immediate instinct is to slow down a little :) till I'm past that bit.

Yes, I would recommend taking a test drive of TJet and of all the cars. Regarding Vento, the rear hump will be an inconvenience, but only for the third passenger. Its upto you to analyze how often there will be a 3rd passenger in your backseat. Otherwise, the Vento is a nice offering too.

Anyways, I am not sidelining the Verna, as its a very capable and reliable car. But if you dont like the soft suspension, try the others.

Thanks for the info. I definitely am looking at reasonable space at the back for 3 passengers, esp. during long drives. Very happy with the Verna on all counts except handling. I have the i10 now but that seems way better in terms of handling.

Guess I will end up waiting for the revamped Honda City or the Jazz (even if I have to settle for a hatchback!)

Hi I have the part number for my SX(O) chrome gear knob it is 437110u300hz. However everywhere I ask, I'm unable to get it for less than 1400 odd. Can you please tell me a convenient way for me to order this in Mumbai, or can you ask the guy you got it from, if he has some point of contact here? I'd really appreciate that.

An particular reason why you do not want to order the same one which I ordered(437113x200hz)?

I also remember, when i had randomly asked them to give me part code and prices for all verna gear knobs, one of them was around 1400.
What i finally did was, found a SX(O) parked in the service station, took down the VIN and asked them to give me part list for that model(yes the spares team at any HMIL workshop has a way to find this).
This is how I got the part number for INR 735 and it was the same one which comes with SX(O).

Edit: Just saw your previous post and realized you have a petrol Verna. My bad. In that case I am not sure about the price. However, the best way to get the correct part number is the way I used. Any friendly HMIL spare parts manager will be helpful.

Looks good. However I have come across a number of people from the service centres advising me not to change the headlights as it ruins the originality of a stock fitting. Later on, it may lead to problems like water seepage, etc. in the long run.

Still they do look pretty awesome.


I have tried and tried and finally exhausted now. Even tried using a VIN from an SX (O) variant, still in vain! Please tell me if there is someway if your contact can pull a few strings and make it available here in Mumbai.

Finally managed to get hold of this. MRP showed 1296/- though. :) I dont think there maybe another way to get hold of this

Gentlmen,

My car - 1.6 CRDI SX has now completed around 1 year and 4 months. Just wanted to do a mini review.

What I Like:
- NVH: This is absolutely class leading and this was one of the strongest reasons I chose Verna over Vento.
- Gizmos: I know some people dont care about it much, but i am simply in love with bluetooth connectivity, power folding mirrors et all.
- FE: It has consistently given 16+ in city. And by city i mean Delhi-Gurgaon peak hours traffic. On highways, it easily gives 20+ if driven within speed limits, thanks to the sixth gear.
- Road presence: Although the car is very common on roads right now, but still it is one of the best looking cars in its segment.
- Maintenance costs: This car is cheaper to maintain than other cars in this segment.

What I dont like:
- Paint quality: The paint is very very delicate and a small nudge can also cause the paint to come off. On highways i have to be very careful that i am not following any behicle too close, because even a small stone causes the paint to chip.
- Soft Suspension and light steering: I know this has been discussed quite alot. Specially for me, coming from Swift Diesel, this turned out to be the biggest adjustment i had to make in my driving style.
- Some shocking ommisions: Auto up on driver side window, even i20 has it.
- Light colored interniors: Although they look excelent, but are a pain in the wrong place maintaining them. Specially for a person like me who likes to keep the car sqeaking clean and tidy. :Frustrati

Here are the FE details till now(full tank to full tank method). The average FE in the MID is little over-optimistic i must say.
Total KMs on ODO: 22596
Highest FE: 20.564 Km/L
Average: 16.221 Km/L

Subtle mods done till now.
- LED DRL Foglamps from aliexpress
- Rear debadged
- Horn replaced with Minda - Skoda type horn
- Chrme gearknob, same as SX(O) variant
- Roof blacked out with glossy finish

Whats in the pipeline:
- Planning to change the color of alloys to Gun Metal finish.
- Amp and subwoofer. I have a monoblock amp, woofer and a 4 channel amp lying with me which i took out from my swift. Still havent gathered the courage to rip apart the car and install them.

What does NVH means?
I agree with you on your don't likes.

NVH stands for Noise Vibration and Harshness. Basically to do with the engine noise and the manner in which the vibrations and the harshness are felt in the vehicle while on the road.

Diesels are notorious for having a high NVH due to the high compression ratio. This is mainly controlled or muffled by using some damping material around the engine and under the hood. Certain high end vehicles also use stage wise injection which ignites the fuel in stages during the compression cycle.

Verna/Hyundai is quite good at managing the NVH in their vehicles.
