Re: Windshield Scratches removal

Have scratches all over my Figo windshield. But driving in night was not a major issue as there is not much distortion. Havent driven in rain though. Was worried about replacing the windshield as i had Rs.7700 worth 3M sun film on it .Windshield replacement would have cost me ~Rs 1200 as insurance would cover most of the amount.

MPL Ford Chennai said they cannot remove these scratches by polishing and advised replacement. Quote: Rs 3K from my pocket and remaining Rs.7K from insurance. Windshield experts Adyar also said they dont do buffing stuff and suggested to replace. Quote: Rs.6600 from insurance and Rs.1200 from my pocket as part of compulsory excess and sealant charges.Local garages and auto glass dealers also suggested replacing the windshield.

Read about glasspolishindia in teambhp and got the chennai dealer contact Mr.Senthil. He asked about the scratches and initially advised for replacement. Later he asked me to bring it so that he can check once and suggest if it can be polished. Took the car today to him and he said 70% of it can be removed. On request small area was buffed initially. On seeing 50% improvement requested them to go ahead. Currently polishing is going on. Will update the results by tomorrow.

Senthil seems to be a nice guy and knows about teambhp. He said that i am not a normal customer but a social customer as i am attached to teambhp . He requested me to provide my honest feedback and also post it here once the job is done.

Re: Windshield Scratches removal

Got my car back after buffing yesterday evening. From outside the windshield looked clear and shining due to buffing. Got inside the car and checked the view from there as that is where the scratches would be visible clearly. Considerable improvement was there. Minor scratches has vanished and bigger scratches are now less pronounced. I would say that the improvement was around 40%. No issues driving in the night.
During night driving parked the car to the side and tried pouring some water over windshield, used wiper and checked for distortions. No issues. So decided not to replace the windshield and continue with it as of now. Anyhow need to test it more on 2 lane roads without divider and during heavy rains.

Hi,

Can you please provide me the address & contact number of glasspolishindia in Chennai? I am also looking to get some windshield scratch removal done on my Linea. How much did it cost you? And any other feedback for the job done? How are the scratches now?

Thanks.

Re: Windshield Scratches removal

Had the same glare in the night issue on my Honda City ZX. Many minute scratches on the windshield would cause the light from the oncoming vehicle to glare in a very bad way. During the routine service schedule at Whitefield Honda, Bangalore asked the service person if anything could be done to this. He told me that some kind of polishing would be done where in 70% of the scratches would be removed. As promised after service more than 80% of the scratches vanished.

Now driving at night is no more a concern. The glares have almost vanished. A few scratches though remain. But doesn't cause me any problems. the whole process cost me Rs 1,500.

Senthil - 9884782307. Nice person to deal with. Please feel free to tell that you got the number through t-bhp as i have informed him already that i am going to share his number. It cost me Rs. 1350. As I mentioned in my earlier post, minor scratches vanished, most of the remaining scratches became less prominent. Overall was satisfied and still running with the same windshield. If you have lot of scratches then I would suggest you to test a small area before proceeding for full windshield buffing.

Re: Windshield Scratches removal

Its in Bangalore
----------------
When I bought my GETZ GLS , it had a lot of wiper scratches and swirl marks in the windshield.
The marks were lighting up my windshield like anything. It was literally not possible to drive in highways.
I searched everywhere to find a suitable solution everyone including the windshield experts were saying glass replacements. Then I read in Team-BHP that there is this fellow Umesh at car SPA in total mall ,Sarjapur Road. Who does the job of swirl marks removal.

I contacted this fellow ( He had moved out of Car spa), he came to my flat and rubbed the glass for a good hour voila the scratches where reduced by 90%. This guy charges 1000 bucks, but I have to say that was well earned.

If somebody needs this guys contact no , do give me a PM. As I am not sure will it fall under advertising for somebody that might well be against T-Bhp rules.

Thanks for the info pisthpeeps!

I am finding it a little difficult to drive during the night with the scratches on my Vista. The scratches seemed to be caused because of the mud settled on the windshield, together with operating the wipers dry & improper windshield cleaning.

I'll get in touch with Mr. Senthil soon to get as much scratches removed on my windshield.

Regards,
Kaushibeta.

Re: Windshield Scratches removal

Glass Polishing / Buffing in Delhi

Hi guys

I shifted to Delhi recently from Bangalore, and am looking for someone to help remove the scratches from my windscreen and rear glass on my A-Star. The cars is only 2 years old, so this is why it hurts even more. These scratches happened when I gave my car for a door repair / painting and it came back with plenty of scratches on the glass

I have got a couple of deep (read: felt with fingernail) scratches which I know will not be removed via polishing / buffing, but I at least want the small fine ones removed or reduced.

Am going to get the car serviced at the MASS in 2 weeks and will ask if they can do it, but seems unlikely. Can anyone suggest someone in Delhi (preferably South Delhi) for the same Also, what would be approximate charge. I do not want to change the windscreen and lose my NCB.

Guys, sorry but have to bump this thread, as there was no response to my earlier query:

Re: Windshield Scratches removal

I looked up Mr.Senthil - 9884782307, as shared by member pisthpeeps in 2013 above. I used truecaller to search him with this phone number and it worked! Mr.Senthil still does glass polishing in Chennai and he's based out of Maduravoyal. I'll likely get him to buff up my recently purchased used A star which is difficult to drive at night thanks to its legacy scratches.

His business is now named Hygene car care, is at 135, Poonamallee high road, Velappanchavadi, Chennai 77 (next to Buhari hotel)

Re: Windshield Scratches removal

I got a scratch over the driver side windshield in my 6 month old rapid due to the auto wiper that activated when a vehicle sprayed muddy water on to the windshield. Is there any option to remove it?

You may visit Windshield Experts outlet. If it is a minor scratch, they will be able to repair.
