Absolutely right. U need to to take the lane right next to woodlands hotel and u will find this guy.dont know the shop's name .. its next to the old vidyuth motors near the mision road flyover.the shop can be spotted easily, cz its painted in bright yellow

ok give me some time i'll get the lowdown on this....

look i'm a mechanical engg....now to give very high surface finish on a metal surface we use a series of emery papers and then we use a cloth polisher...this cloth is fixed on a rotating table or a tool and then Al2O3 +Fe2O3 liquid is poured on it.....this liquid has suspended particles....these suspended particles polish the surface......now there are ceratin liquids with diamond dust suspended in them which are used to polish glass.....i'll just get the details and then probably we can make a DIY method for everyone....

ok people....there is a chemical called cerium oxide ....this is used to polish glass....it is mixed in water and then used for buffing the glass.....

BEWARE: the chemical is TOXIC....probable not sold off the shelf in india...will have to look for it......

its also called CERIA......ok......

ok here's more.....

CERIUM OXIDE POLISHING POWDER...this is available off the shelf....but in US....my friends there use it to polish the headlight plastic of their 12r's and other bikes.....this is the powder that is used to even give the final finish to the steel in the bikes like swingarms etc.....

you guys mush have seen those shiney bikes...all chromed out frames ets...well its not chrome...its polishing effect.....very high grade steel polishing.....and it lasts 1 yr on steel, aluminium etc.....

ok so here we have it......

a DIY solution of windshield scratches......

I got them for 380 bucks. with steel frame... Funny part was, they did not have a 24" 18" combi pack, They removed 1 each from different pack to fix it.

Most of the cars have different sized wiper blades (ie.. left and right side blades are of different sizes) that is the reason they are packed in different boxes. And i have noticed in some of the petrol pumps in delhi that they a sell a kit for 250 bucks where they have a anti glare, a dash board cleaner and so on . the anti glare works good so go for that .

Hey DRC, did u find a solution for it?

If yes, details please...

dude i've given the solution....this is the thing....i'm in the process of procuring it for my safari.....

Anyone know of a good auto-glass shop in Gurgaon who can do some buffing and remove scratches from windshields? The rubber of my wiper blade twisted while I was running the wipers in heavy rains yesterday. By the time I realised the wiper body (the metal rod that holds the rubber blade) left a few scratches (not very deep) on my windshield.

Any other recommendations short of changing the windshield?

Just to clarify, they are not wiper blade or water marks, so the usual toothpaste, vinegar, newspaper tricks don't work.

Anyone knows about any glass buffing shop in Mumbai?

Try windshield experts. They are the best.

This month's Autocar (Aug 2008) has an advertisement on Pg. 186 from a company called Glass Polish India which seems to have a solution for windshield scratches. They have provided an address and ph. nos. in Mumbai.

Glass Polish India Ltd - Advanced Professional Glass and Plastic Repair

Yes I had seen that and called them yesterday asking if they had any distributors/resellers/service centers in Gurgaon. They said they would call back but haven't ;)

Maybe someone in Mumbai can try their services.

I was returning to Bangalore from Krishnagiri. It was around 8.30 PM in the night. Suddenly there was very heavy rain. I turned on the wiper. After a few mins the wiper blade turned 180 degrees. It came out of its lock. I think the handle to which it is fitted scratched my windscreen :Frustrati

there is a scratch in arc shape right in front of my eyes.

What can be done about this.please:

How do i get this scratch removed from the windscreen.

Will i get insurance cover to change the windscreen.

I dont know if insurance covers scratches on windscreens.
They however cover it 100% if its broken.
But you will need also need to replace the rubber beading. This only gets a 50% insurance coverage.

Give a call to windshield experts, they may be able to help you with the scratch.
