Points towards a severely chocked catalytic converter. If the catcon looks clogged even after cleaning then just break and remove it .

Oh on RPM, it is not the same torque-RPM correlation as in normal condition. Its as though I am having my leg softly on the clutch pedal and rev it up, after 2 sec it just opens up, like removing my leg from the pedal.

Looks like catcon let me first get it cleaned and give my feed back.

ok I think I have no option but to get the engine opened. Now I have 2 options, either get the engine done up and assemble or pick up a sealed engine from a believable person either in Bangalore or anywhere.

If I have to get it opened, let me know some decent mechanic who would do a quick and good job in Bangalore.

The Ford Fiesta Duratorqs run on an average 1,50,000 to 2,00,000 kms. A Duratorq becomes very expensive to maintain after 1,00,000 kms. There is a special Ford-specific garage here that looks like a shanty, but step inside and you will be amazed to see 2-3 Endeavours and 6-7 Fiestas. Some nostalgic owners still hold on to their Duratorqs after 100000 kms but they buy an alternate efficient car like the swift/Ritz/alto. The Fiesta Duratorq basically leads a retired life after 100000 kms.

On the other hand, the old swift Diesel DDIS can run 300000 kms on good Diesel without an engine rebuilt. Swift DDISs with 230000 kms on the odo can be seen in some areas of India. I had a chance of sitting in such a swift when I visited Sikkim. super silent and smooth. It has been our office car since 6 years. Perhaps the cooler climate and Assam Oil Diesel has worked wonders for the car. On the sub continent you will rarely come across such a DDIS.

Needed some advice, looking to buy a Second hand Ford fiesta 1.4 diesel,basic version.

23k kilometres,2010 registration, person is quoting 4.25 lacs, the exteriors are in excellent shape, taking it to the ford sc tomorrow to get it checked.

pls advise whether it is a good deal.

Ford is known for its tough engines.i have a 2008 fiesta which is used by my mother just for local running.it has clocked 130000 till date without any major problems except for replacement of wear and tear parts.
One of my friend's drove his fiesta for nearly 300000 despite it being overheated twice due to faulty radiator bottle.

I have noticed a drop in engine oil levels for my Fiesta Classic 1.4 TDCi. It has dropped by about 40% on the dip stick. I checked the location where it has been parked, there are no oil drops there. Checked the exhaust for any oil residue, noting. The car has run 63000kms. Any suggestions? I plan to get the car checked tomorrow.
It has run about 5000kms since last service and that was about 6 months ago. Technically, the car is due for next service. The last 6 months of running has been covered mostly in the city.

Check the coolant one too see if there is any mix of engine oil and coolant.

Anurag, Thanks for your response. I checked the coolant reservoir, it did not have any oil traces.
Took the car to service, SA claims its alright and he did not find anything else wrong. So do the technicians. Let me see how she comes after service.
BTW - power steering hose was found leaking. So, some Vitamin M will go off now :(

Thanks for the information. I thought it would take in only 37 liters. Or was it not 37 liters when the Fusion was introduced and then upgraded to 45 liters tank with the FIGO? Last time when I went to fill fuel, the tank was close to empty as the DTE was showing only 130 kms range and it took in only 31 liters of diesel.

Can please somebody clear my doubts? Thanks.

@Josevijay---it was always 45 liters for the Figo, Fiesta Classic and Fusion tdci. I'm not sure if the initial lot of petrol Fusions had a lower capacity, but that is hardly probable. The Fusion TDCi came much later, and at that point of time, the capacity was surely 45 liters.
