Human shampoo is becoming bad for human hair forget cars.
Jokes apart, when there are shampoos/solutions specific to cars
then why try a milder on the car ?

I think we could use the Anti-Dandruff shampoo, i hope the car gets cleaned off by minuscule dirts lol:

I have been using "Clinic all clear" on my 10 year old matiz and it has done the job very well. dose is one sachet for 2 liters of water. It cleans well and maintains the shine. i used to polish with waxpol silicone licquid once in two months or so and the clinic shampoo maintained the shine.

this attached pic was taken in dec 08 when i was on the way from goa to bangy (NH 63) to hand over the car to my son. You can see the shine on the vehicle.

OTOH On my dezire i have been using formula 1 shampoo just to spoil the new car:D but have run out of the same and back to usung clinic all clear sachets. actually.. I dont see much difference between human shampoo and car specific shampoo.

i agree with @goandude.. i too am using the Clinic All Clear (that blue one) which is mild, i have been using this method for more than 10years on my bikes, samurai, unicorn and cars Matiz, innova and i10, i had no issues with the paint and cleans well.
Guys nothing wrong giving a try... till date i had no issues as such.

So Clinic All Clear is the word here !?
This should inspire the shampoo company to launch a new ad campaign & increase sales ... !

The human shampoo can also be diluted with water and used as windscreen washer fluid.

Well, if it is supposed to be ok for human skin, then I'm sure the paint has nothing to fear!! Have been using Clinic All Clear sachets to wash my car for a few months now. 2-3 sachets is enough for a bucket of water. Also use it mixed with water as windscreen washer fluid.

I have used shampoos( I found chik shampoo the best because the fragrance is quite good and stays on for sometime) all this while too, but for windshield wiper fluid I swear by Pril (orange/lime) dish washing liquid. Just try it on. I get good results during rains too and all the water spots have vanished too. Sometimes when I am too lazy to fetch the shampoo satchet, Pril goes all the way.

I have been using pril luquid soap for about 4-5 yrs .The lime effect cuts off the grease and dirt very effectively .What made me think of it is seeing the effect on utensils made of stainless steel shine !!! It s cost effective too !!!

Are you sure Pril does not harm your paint? I feel it could be a little too strong for the it. I agree it would take care of all the tar and grease though.

This is exactly what I was contemplating. The windscreen washer concentrate looks no better than mere soap water. This would be far more economical.

As a further step in that direction, we can try herbal shampoos as opposed to regular ones.:)

Whoa! I'd never use human shampoo on cars!(since its never been tested regarding the long term effects)

will try it on my mom's car though! just to check its cleaning power!:)

I think i'm the odd man here, i use head & shoulder.
I think hair sampoo does pretty decent job.

Its good to use the shampoo if you are not washing your car in the open.
The moment you use shampoo water and if it dries up before you clean it with clean water. The shampoo stains are unforgiving on the paint. I stick to plain water.
But for the windshield I prefer mixing "Colin" with water. Excellent results. :thumbs up

To the long term users.

Any bad effect on the rubber beading and wiper? Do the crack easier?
One thing i noticed with these dish wash liquid is over the time they take the shine off the Black non painted bumpers that we had on older cars.

Though havent tried Pril or Clinic shampoo yet.
