Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

My friend in Bangalore has a 2008 Fabia 1.2 lt petrol model run 41000km, whose AC has gone kaput. He's checked with
1. TAFE who said condenser needs replacement - cost approx INR 18000 plus any other parts and labor
2. local mechanic who said coil plus condenser and compressor overhaul - cost approx INR 15000
3. Aditya AC Jayanagar Bangalore who have said it could cost up to INR 30000 depending on what parts need replacement.

My friend is very confused given the wide diagnosis and quotes. Can someone throw light on typical costs to expect and which would be the best place to get the AC fixed?
Contact Pavan Kadam via PM, he's got a very good mechanic for AC repair, the guy's name is Shaju and he's located near Kodava Samaj at Vasanthnagar.

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Last week got my 800s ac serviced as it stopped cooling - basically the compressor would stop working after a few minutes of the start.

Taking a cue from this thread took it to Aditya car a/c on the start of ORR Koramangala and was diagnosed immediately that the gas has gone empty. The guys filled in full load of gas and cleaned the filter as well.

Also it was found that the radiator fan relay had gone kaput and was changed. Over all a bill of Rs.2000 (1500 for full gas refill and 500 for the relay)

The entire servicing was quick and couteous and would recommend this place for any ac issues.

Just wanted to check if full gas refill cost 1500 and what would be the interval of top up of the gas.

How reliable are the The aftermarket radiator fans and condensors sold by Aditya Car a/c Kormangala.
The price difference is almost 70% compared to authorized dealers for VW and Skoda

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Recently my colleagues GM Aveo 2010 model which has clocked about 40K suddenly stopped cooling. As usual the Kropex guys said they don't have an AC engineer to help in their hosur road outlet. I suggested my friend to thobias (behind garuda mall). He checked and said all GM cars including the cruz suffer from the same malfunction. The only way out is the replacement of the compressor. 20 grant and the car is back to shape.

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

I have a indica vista and there was a noise coming from the bonnet. So, took it to Concorde near kudlu gate for inspection. I had thought that the problem was due to the ac belt or the pulley had gone. When they inspected, it was found that the noise was coming from the compressor. The compressor was from subros and they said that subros can repair , if repairable. If its total not working, then approx cost will be around 21-22K. So, i asked them to remove the ac belt to reduce further damage.

So, came to team bhp, "Aditya" seemed good. So, i went to his place, kormangla, met him. They removed the compressor and said it needs to be changed and quoted 19.5K, i ask him to reduce the price, he says 19K. But, seeing the workmanship, i was not convinced. Somehow the feeling was not good. So, told him to put it back. He asks for 800, i pay him. I thought paying 21K to ASS is much better than paying 19K to local shop.

When i reached office, thought of opening the bonnet and check. They had left the gas inlet open. Fearing that dust might go into that, i took the car back to Concorde, asked them to send the compressor to subros for a check. To my surprise, "Aditya" had not even fitted the compressor back properly. It was on only 1 nut, totally there were supposed to be 3 nuts holding the compressor.

So, totally not i impressed with "Aditya car ac". Finally paid around 17K to Concorde for changing the complete set. So, even at the price point, "Aditya" was charging more. The subros compressor cost was around 15K, gas refill around 1500, totally it came to around 17.5K-18K max including labour.

So, one advice is to please check with your service center people. Especially, if its a Tata car, they wont charge you more and you'll have peace of mind that the parts are original. For me, compressor make was Jan-2015. I think even if the ASS are charging more, say 1 or 2K more, i think its worth the peace of mind. This is what took me back to Concorde. Even if they would have charged 21K, i would have been happy to get it done from ASS than from local shop.

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Hello,
Is there any option close to whitefield - marathalli side for car a/c repair? From this thread Adithya looks like a good option but bit far. Appreciate suggestions.

Thanks

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

I had a problem with my i10's ac and after seeing the recommendations on this thread I took it to Aditya AC in Koramangala. His diagnosis was same as the two other places where it was checked - first by a service station in Chennai and then Hyundai ASS; that the compressor had jammed. He showed me the old compressor and why it can not be fixed and then replaced with a new part. Then upon further investigation, he found that there was a lot of debris in the system and his team cleaned it thoroughly. Overall I am happy with this person - he investigates and ensures that the problem is resolved, his team is good and dedicated, he is always available on phone with any questions. I don't mind recommending him. I stay in Whitefield and when I told him this, he tried to fix the ac on the same day, so that I didn't have to come back again.

Also, big thanks to the team-bhp members who suggested this place in this thread :-)

Re: Bangalore : Please suggest a Good Workshop to repair A/C

Would someone confirm if this is the place - gmap link? The older one is not valid anymore.

On my way back from Mysore today morning, there was a sudden noise - very similar to a tube-type tyre puncture. After inspecting the tyres and driving on, I realized that the sound was coming from the A/C (Compressor). This minor sound transformed into a whine and then to a screeching noise within seconds.

The Advaith SA at Channapatna (where I got the car inspected right after the incident) diagnosed it to be a jammed compressor bearing and quoted approx Rs. 1500 + labour + tax. In Bangalore, Advaith is quoting me ~25k for the compressor assembly and 9k for the bearing assembly alone. He added that he cannot guarantee if it would work after replacing the bearing alone and that I have to incur the cost whether it works or not (and trying to push me to replace the compressor).

I am really confused now!

This is the place where I went. Although they have other place in Jayanagar. Better to call them and check before going.

A/C servicing for Ford Figo

Hi, the a/c in my Ford Figo doesnt work and the guys at Elite Ford (Bangalore) tell me that the complete unit (coil, fluid etc.) needs to be replaced. Apparently, the entire dash board along with the gear stick, music system and steering wheel needs to be removed as part of this. As, I dont trust the team at Elite Ford (plenty of past issues), I would appreciate any pointers to another service centre, preferably outside Ford. I would also like to do my regular servicing plus wheel alignment/balancing at this place if possible.

I apologise if this issue has been raised in the past but I wasnt able to find anything in the archives.

Thanks.

You can try Wekool just off Garuda Mall, Tobias is the person. His contacts are there in this post. https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techn...ml#post3721710 (Swift AC Problem)

Balancing you can goto Madhu's near langford which is close by.

Our Santro's AC is not cooling effectively. Also, need to clean up the system as we are not much comfortable when the AC runs. Any good places near Sarjapur road - Marthahalli area?

Thanks in advance.

My Dzire AC on fan speed 1 is very negligible. The air hardly comes till the steering wheel. I have complained repeatedly to the service center and they claim it to be normal.

Anyplace close to Marathalli or Kundalahalli where this can be checked?

Quoting the other two who had similar requests to see if they have had any luck.

You could check the cabin filter if swift has one. If it's clogged, the air volume output Will reduce
