Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

@harry, I'm getting a very consistent 14kmpl in city driving conditions with AC right from day1. Out of city, I always get 17 to 23kmpl based on road conditions and driving style. My Linea has clocked 9k now. Wondering on whether it could be on issues such as poor quality diesel or clogged air-filter hampering the efficiency in your case.

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

Why don't you get the dealership to do a mileage test along with you? This should give them an idea about how bad the problem is. This car should definitely give around 12-14 in city since its a diesel.

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

hmm there is some issue with my car, but the Tass sis not willing to do a mileage check. anyway my first service will be due by this month (5k service).
Friends can please do tell me the following data,

Eco index what you are getting

usual driving speed .

i usually have an eco index of 55 and my speed is about 60 - 75 km/hr.

Yesterday i have cleaned the air filter by myself it was little dust, but after cleaning the air filter the car is smoother and also responds to accelerator very fast. I hope this will also help me increase the FE. Does anyone know what is the ideal gear shift speed for the MJ linea...

thanks

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

Don't expect miracles after any service. A fuel efficient car delivers good FE from day one, the FE improves slightly after the engine opens up. Do not expect the FE to jump 50% after service, 1kpl or less is what can be expected after first oil change(considering the driving style and conditions remain same).

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

@harry, you cannot trust the eco index. The ecodrive does not have the Indian spec Linea 1.3MJD in its list. For Linea diesel, the only option that it gives us is the 1.6 MJD with 6-speed gear box. So please do not rely on the eco index.

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

so the ideal thing is to take FE test. I shall visit TASS and have a detail chat with them. Thank you for your valuable reply.

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

friends to day i have given my Linea for service. the issues i have pointed to them are as follows. This is the first service of my Linea, Km covered is 4898.

1. Poor FE. 12km/lit. this never changed, constantly giving 12 from day one to till now.
2.Front suspension sound tak tak on uneven roads and when turned to L or R 90%.
3. Media player restarting continuously.
4. Rear left window too tight to slide.
5. Wiper blade making sound.
6. head light focused too low.
7. Fuel lid cover too tight to close.
8. B pillar plastic cover not properly fitted.
9. boot hinges clip rusted.
10. while riding at 20 ~ 40 km/hr steering vibrating to L and R.
11. AC recycle vent not closing properly.

I have given the car for service at Kulathugal motors at 9:30 AM. estimated delivery time is at 5:30 PM.

I hope all my issues will be resolved. I went for linea since it had good FE and comfort. But FE is very low for me. i hope this will be rectified today.
keeping fingers crossed...

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

Took the vehicle from Kulathungal today.
Media player ordered, i have to wait 10 days.
FE issue- they did not find any issue. after 15K service only i will get FE.
can anyone comment on this......
rear door glass winder motor changed.
the rusted clips were changed.

Now comes the fun part. how much will it cost for balancing 4 alloy wheels?
the charged including weight i had to pay was 1222.00
I never in my life saw a bill of this much amount for balancing.

The free part

two new scratch in left rear door.
When asked the SA told he will repair it next time. when i insisted he told that the body shop workers are busy.

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

The alignment and balancing costs have been increased in tyre shops too. As per the price list put up in shops in chennai, balancing cost for 14" alloy wheels irrespective of weights is Rs.200 per wheel. I was charged Rs.800 for balancing 4 wheels for my Palio. But 1200 is way over.

Errr...Going by the invoice/bill it seems that Harry was charged Rs 600 for balancing the wheels.

Plus,

Final Parts Invoice Amount : Rs 213.10 + Rs 284.13 + Rs 62.15 + Rs 0.62 = Rs 560

Final Labour Invoice Amount : Rs 600 + Rs 60 + Rs 1.80 = Rs 661.80

Total Amount = Rs 560 + Rs 661.80 = Rs 1221.80 ~ Rs 1222

I hope this answers it all!

Did they charged you for the weights they have installed.

I dont really trust this service centre, i have to take out the wheels and see if they have installed this much of weights in the the wheels.
is the charge for the weights true? i really dont know much about the price of the weights.

can anyone tell me regarding the FE issue. the SA told i will get only FE after 15K service. They have checked the car and they did nt find any issue with it. I am now confused what to do for FE. I went for Linea since it had good FE, other wise i would have gone for Innova which also offer 11 to 12 / liter FE.

But Klub Class, I believe that Rs.560 charged in parts is for the weights.

@harry, please correct me if I'm wrong.

No harry, I was not charged for the weights. In here, irrespective of the weights added, it is a flat rate of Rs.200 per alloy wheel.

I believe it is better off for you to get your alignment/balancing works done in a reputed tire shop rather than with the A.S.S. I'm totally against giving my cars to A.S.S. for alignment/balancing.

I'm wondering on your FE issues. It largely depends on your driving style and road/traffic conditions. My Linea in normal conditions gives 14kmpl in city, but few months back, when my dad's driving was less for about a month, the FE dropped to 12, at that time, his usage was as below:

1. Home to Office at 8:30am (approx 2kms)
2. Office to Home at 12:30pm (approx 2kms)
3. Home to Office at 5:30pm (approx 2kms)
4. Office to Home at 8:30pm (approx 2kms)

Eight kms a day and that too in 4x2km trips is way too less. When this continued for about a month with no additional driving, the max FE was 12kmpl.

Now he's back to his normal routine and the car is delivering 14+.

So how about your daily routine? How many you drive in a day and what is the breakup for your daily drive? Do share them, we shall try and figure out on whether it has to do with conditions or is there any issues with the car.

Do share the traffic conditions that you encounter too.

The fact that those parts charged are 'weights' didn't flash through my brain! My bad.

Regarding the low mileage, there is something wrong with the fuel you fill or the way you drive.

Re: Fiat Linea Diesel Mileage Problem

@h14

yes i too agree with you i should have taken the vehicle for balancing to some good private shop. In fact i never gave any of my vehicle to TASS for balancing or alignment, since this was the first service i did not opposed doing the balancing and i never expected from them this much charge. In future i wont give it to them for balancing or alignment.

Regarding FE. My driving conditions are just like what we face in city even though i drive outside of city. But there is not much idiling but gear changes are frequent 3 and 4 the are used mostly. 5th gear is not used while coming to office. from home to office its 9 km. average speed is 25 to 35.

@Klib Class

usually i fill disel from COCO pump (Indian oil and Bharath). i have tried different pumps in the city too. but i got the same FE. My driving stlyle is not aggressive. you know i cant be an aggressive driver in by-roads due to the low Ground clearance of Linea. anyway i have filled a full tank let it finish then we will check once more the FE.

Friends i would like to segregate the 1st service of my Linea as follows,

1. Poor FE. 12km/lit. this never changed, constantly giving 12 from day one to till now. Need to check in the next filling of Diesel.
2.Front suspension sound tak tak on uneven roads and when turned to L or R 90%. Resolved
3. Media player restarting continuously. Nor resolved since no stock, waiting for replacement ETA 10 Days
4. Rear left window too tight to slide.Resolved. changed the window glass winder motor
5. Wiper blade making sound. Unresolved!!!
6. head light focused too low.Resolved
7. Fuel lid cover too tight to close.SA commented that its like that by DEFAULT
8. B pillar plastic cover not properly fitted. fixed
9. boot hinges clip rusted.resolved, changed the rusted clip
10. while riding at 20 ~ 40 km/hr steering vibrating to L and R.Resolved but bill was a shocking
11. AC recycle vent not closing properly.Resolved

Free of cost.
Two new long scratch in the rear left door seems like some metal part has done it.
the customer support manager called me today morning and i have raised this and she told it will be rectified. Don't know what they are going to do... yesterday the SA told the body workshop is busy..
