Guys, the needle from which i was injecting acetone into my Petrol Tank (Baleno) accidently fell inside the tank.
What's the best course of action, should I get the petrol tank cleaned or would there be any other way to get it out
Leave it in place and forget about it. Incidentally, why were you injecting acetone into the petrol tank??

As SS traveller said just leave it alone or get it removed next time when you give your car for servicing..
There will be no damage caused.
I think it will be quite difficult to get it removed since fuel tanks are sealed except for the inlet and the outlet/drain outlet. Since they also have baffle plates inside, it will be quite difficult a task. Leave it in piece.
Is needle magnetic , I dont think so ,but take a chance and see if it magnetic and then you know what to do .:p. Dont blame me if you drop the magnet inside while fishing for the needle .lol .
I would say the needle is not about to cause any harm to your car at all. The plastic of the hub is quite resistant to melting in petrol or acetone, and the needle is high grade stainless steel. So buy yourself another needle (maybe a wider bore this time, like 20G or 18G), and happy injecting!
I presume you're injecting the chemical through the fuel inlet,Still beats me as to why you needed the needle ??
If you do not get the needle out, how do you mainline on acetone?
The needle might bust a membrane or other delicate part or lodge itself in an uncomfortable position. One does not want a busted gut or a pin stuck in the backside.
Mainlining on acetone is a delicate operation and exact metred doses are to be introduced into the fuelline at a regular rate. I hope you are using good quality needles which are properly sterilised. It always helps to have a comely nurse on hand to monitor the flow.

wow, always heard finding needle in the haystack and now its needle in petrol tank.
my advice, dont bother about it and its not gonna cause any danger though ita one of a case.

Guys, stop needling the poor boy! Must be pricking his conscience every time he thinks about his Baleno.
But seriously, speak to a mechanic, to see if there is any filtration mechanism to ensure the needle does not get into the fuel injection system. That would cause serious damage.
If it's caught by the filter (assuming there's one) the most that will happen is the engine will die for lack of petrol, and you can then extract the offender.

Apart from all the poking:), I was hoping the experts on the forum will guide me on if there is a fuel filter in a baleno and innovative ideas on how to remove the needle.
I am sure MASS will suggest a replacement of the fuel tank. :)
or better still replace the car
