if at all you have checked it perfectly and dint hear any noise thats a great one in thousands alto.
but the thing is even one of my friend in the office was claiming that he never hears that sound. i drove his car made him sit beside, he was like " now whats that new sound"
in normal driving style where you shift and immediately accelerate the sound doesnt come.
its very difficult to explain here what makes the sound. forget it. dont think about it at all.

^^ Amit, thanks for the re-assurance! You have made my day!

Now I will *never* have that thought in my mind!

Oh and yes, remind me never to let you drive my Alto, if you ever drop by Bangalore.

Just got the axel boots changed on my OHC when my wheel alignment guys informed me that they were torn. The entire job cost me INR 1,300
(4 boots + 4 Clips + Labour)

I totally agree with SirAlec, it is a very important preventive maintenance point and one must check for a torn boot a on a regular basis.

Will put up my low quality pics soon.
few pics from my side. should give a brief idea of how torn axle boots like

^^^ seems the grease is still holding, its not dry yet. did you change the axle or just greased and changed the boot? for changing the boot the drive shaft has to be removed.

Today I noticed that the front drive shaft(CV) boots of my M800 are damaged and grease is leaking. While doing a full turn getting a mild krrr krrr sound , no sound while driving straight.
Went to a MASS nearby he told that the drive shaft assembly has to be changed, costing Rs.3200/- + labour. I felt that the cost seems to be too high for a M800.

Guys require your advise should I just change the boots & repack the joints with grease or the entire assembly needs to be changed.

I changed my drive shafts 6months ago, did 5000kms and now i hear tak tak tak sound coming from the left side wheel only when i accelerate. when i leave the accelerator and the car still in motion doesnt make any sound. I approached my M.A.S.S and they say the driveshaft has to be changed and it's going to cost around 4k approx.
Any suugessions on what to be done? Is it required to change the entire shaft?

I replaced the LH drive shaft of my M800 5-speed y'day. The OEM unit + labour cost me 3000 bucks. My mechanic says 5-speed cost more.

Regards,
Jose.

Previously it was 1950/- and 1900. Now the price have increased to 2400/- tax included.
Its a confirmed price through a MASS owner friend.

If you are in big city you can buy from outside, Its basically GKN or Delphi make.

brand

I wanted an opinion on the brands available for the OHC.
I found a company called GSP and it sounded reasonable between 4k - 4.8K
There is also one called ABX or AXB ! but many are not in favor of it.
The stock I think is Delphi, but most places here said that off late there has been too many complaints with the same.
Please give your suggestions.
