Thanks. Did speak to him in the morning. It seems he has stopped selling Mobil and has taken up dealership of Hyundai engine oil, tried to sell it me which i declined.
I guess Mobil Delvac MX plus is a mineral based oil. So, to stay with synthetic, i will probably go to MASS and get Feo.

Any feedback on Feo v2, anyone.

Are you sure it is 5w30? I have a 2021 2.0 Diesel and the user manual and the ASC have told it is 0w20 ACEA C2.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Today I handed over my Hector diesel for 15K KM service. It has jeep 2 litre engine and oil used is 0W20 grade. I was surprised as well, as my Punto diesel 1.3 litre engine gets 5W40 specification.
Service center informed that 0W20 specification is BS6 engines.

If it is Scorpio Mhawk, just use Feo - green bucket. There is an M&M spare parts retailer (Suma Enterprises) near JK automobiles in JC road, you can pick it up from there along with the oil filter.

Your cousin is right, you won't need to flush especially for a 50k run car that has had regular oil changes. He is wrong in filling Helix though.
Dear Hserus,

What oil would you recommend for Altis 1.4 diesel. Usage is 70% highway 30% city. It has done 58k kms all on Toyota regular oil.
Shifting to FNG for future services. Oil is changed every 10k kms.
Will Elofic filter be fine?
I think the capacity is 4.1 litres.

Get a purolator if you like. Or ufi sofima or valeo.

Any good 5w30 synthetic will work fine.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Dear hserus

Which oil would you recommend for a 2017 Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8 Diesel?

The service center uses Toyota oil with the following part number L-0888-083117 TGMO SN/CF 5W30

The car's usage is less - so should mineral oil be considered? The mineral oil I'm considering is Shell Rimula R4 15W-40 API CI4 Plus

Also, how is Shell Helix Taxi 5W-30 API SN Plus? In it's product description, they have mentioned Innova Crysta

Shell LubeMatch oil finder is reccomending Helix HX5 15W-40 API CH-4

Any other oils to consider?

Thank you

Re: All about diesel engine oils

The Toyota motor oil is fairly cheap. Or else get the Shell Helix Taxi, it is semi synthetic and good quality.

If you want to pour mineral 15w40 your engine won't object too much, but your fuel efficiency will suffer and you get rougher engine noise.

Yes there has been absolutely no supply and with no visibility I don't think we can expect to receive this anytime soon either according to retailers

Spoke to the owner at JK and he was the one who helped me with the above feedback

Have my Engine oil replacement due in June end and hope to get the Delvac 1 before that

Suggest you try the Shell Rimula R4 oil. It provides 70% of the performance of Delvac 1 at 50% or lesser cost. It is a mineral oil which I have been using since I shifted from Delvac 1. I am very happy

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Please suggest the best oil for my friend's 2008 Maruti Swift Diesel which had run 1,30,000 kms till date. It would be helpful if a link to the compatible oil filter is added too.

I had spent a few hours reading a lot of pages in futility. The manuals that I read specified 5w30 at/b5 oil but were mentioning k12 engines. I learnt that Maruti was fitting the g13b petrol engines in the 2005-2011 period. Which meant that the manuals I had been through were not for first gen Swift Diesel. Maruti had changed the oil rating many times too in the period.

I would say go with 5w40 instead of 5w30 because the former provides better protection which is what you need after 1L+ kms. Get any good brand 5w40 fully synthetic. (Looking for advice from engine oil experts though on this).

As for the filter, you should be able to get it on Boodmo.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Suresh and others - need your expert advice.

I have a 52K run 2014 Safari Storme. I have been using Amsoil 5w40 Turbo Truck from past 2 fills and extremely happy. Recently the availability of Amsoil has become patchy and also the prices have gone north (almost 8K for 7.4L). Please suggest any other alternate which might be a less heavy on the pocket. I intend to keep the truck till it's end of life. Is it advisable to move back to premium mineral from fully synthetic?
