Basing on used oil analyses, 10k kms is no sweat for any if not most full syn 5W30 in world market in an Asian/Japan engine.

Amsoil claims 40k kms oci. Would it works?

I would think so, basing on typical laboratory limits in an UOA.

The oil filter won’t last 40k km.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Hi Folks, what would be good choice of oil for 110ps Duster?
my car is at 75k and approaching service date really soon, till now I've got all services done at ASC and have used he company supplied oil which i believe is mineral oil.
I'm thinking of moving to more better after market choices and purchase it before going to ASC for yearly service.

Any advise or first hand experience is really appreciated. Thanks.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Hello oil experts,

My Punto 90 HP diesel has ran only 3000 km in last 1 year. As I can see the feedback despite low running, it’s recommended to change engine oil in 1 year, which oil is recommended. It’s mostly used within city now so would like to go for something normal, easy on pocket. Present oil in it is Amsoil European car formula 5w40 which I find is waste of money given its low usage now. I have Castrol Magnatec or Mobil Super 3000 in mind in 5w40 avatar. Please feedback.

Any fiat grade oil should do the job given your low usage. Kindly replace the oil filter as well

Both are good oils and will do the job.

Shortlisted the following 3, can you confirm which one would be better or worse based on your experience.

1. Maximile FEO - Mineral Oil
2. Mobil Super 3000 Formula I 5W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil - Synthetic Oil
3. Mobil 1 FS X2 5W-40 API SN Advanced Full Synthetic Engine Oil - Synthetic Oil

As stated earlier, this is for the XUV 500, has run approx 1.10L kms till date.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

Depends on how many km a year. Feo should work very well for 10k though I wouldn’t stretch it to 20k

It isn’t a mineral oil

Go ahead use FEO and service the car with extra oil change if the service interval doesn't have it .. on odd number ten k intervals like 30k 50k etc they will only top the oil up, and change every 20k km otherwise.

The spec is not published anywhere. However a little googling suggests that Seo V2 is a 0w20, probably ACEA C3 or C5 given the long drain interval. The alternate recommended in an Italian manual for the KUV 100 is a 5w30 C3

Boodmo, the part says - Maximile. Engine Oil 0W20 (5L) (Maximile Feo V2)

And this is a screenshot on the alternate oil recommendation. These manuals are available on Mahindra-tis.com

The normal Feo oil for BS4 engines (the green can) is, similarly, a 5w30 one. Probably ACEA C2 at least, given the extended drain interval of 20k in the service manual.

I have no idea about Maximile Ultra and haven't seen where its supposed to be used. Is this a full synthetic variant they are offering for BS6 vehicles? If so its likely to be the same 0w20 spec but full synthetic.

BS6 diesel oil for mhawk 2.2 engines. It is used in 2020 Thar diesel. Seeing the seized engine report in facebook from a Thar owner on an engine seizure within 30k kms. I was reminded of a frequent complaint by Mahindra jeeto/supro operators that Mahindra dealer in service usually doesn't change oil and just tops up. If any dealer service centre does that with a BS6 engine with DPF and DEF then it is done for.

Make 100% sure that when there is a separate bs4 and a different bs6 engine oil in stock at the dealer, that the dealer doesn't fill a bs4 oil (green FEO bottle) into a BS6 car even by accident. Many dealers do this especially the ones that have oil by the drum rather than by the bottle in stock, they don't want to open a new drum of oil just for the few bs6 cars that are coming in.

Re: All about diesel engine oils

I enquired today and maximile ultra bs6 diesel engine oil is semi-synthetic. It is not available in open market and only with dealer. And they give only 1 litre packs for top up. No 6 litre drums are available for sale yet.
